Hillary Clinton Comes Out Swinging On Healthcare

In a sign that Hillary Clinton may intend to brand herself as healthcare crusader in this post-primary period, today Clinton spoke to the American Nurses Association convention in Washington, DC in what was her first official public appearance since endorsing Barack Obama earlier this month. She used her speech to slam McCain's health care "plan".

"It is absolutely unbelievable that the healthcare plan he has proposed would cause millions of hardworking Americans to lose the coverage they already have," Clinton said during a speech to the American Nurses Association convention in Washington, DC on Thursday. "So what ever issue you care about, what ever your passion may be, we have to join together and present a united front."

She also urged the nurses to support Senator Obama's candidacy.

The former first lady called on the group that had originally endorsed her "to do everything you can to help elect Barack Obama."  The ANA has not officially endorsed Obama.

"I have seen his passion and determination and his grip and his grace, and in his own life he has lived the American dream," she said of Obama.

This is going to be fun watching Clinton parlay the scrappy fighter persona that she emerged as later in the primary process into a full on assault on John McCain. Whether she's on the ticket or not, Hillary Clinton is going to be absolutely invaluable to Barack Obama this year.

Good!  When she was running for president, she claimed that she wouldn't even touch health care until 2014.  Now, maybe she'll force the democratic congress and Barack Obama to act sooner.

At least I hope that's the case...

Would she be ScrappyDo or ScoobyDo?

Sorry I put away my cheerleading outfit for baseball season. Get back with me the first Tuesday in November. I'll see if I can find it then. I'm not all happy Hillary anymore than I'm happy Obama. Or happy McCain. Unless you're asking me to be cheering for a Unity ticket. Well I think I can make an exception. Otherwise, Ah it's hot and well I'd rather not.

Especially not motivated when she's missing votes in the Senate for a photo op that could have been rescheduled.
Her job is represent the folks in New York on all issues not just her pet ones.

Matter of fact, concidering that this vote is about civil liberties? I'd rather have seen the "love" on the floor of the Senate and then Unity, NH to announce an "engagement". Otherwise, this primary was just draining and frankly I'm not really giving a ....

Now that the primary is over, you can stop spreading lies about Hillary Clinton. Clinton's plan was to have universal coverage by the end of her first term:

She seems to have changed her position. In February, 2007 she said by the end of her second term:  http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Hillar y_Clinton.htm

She unveiled her health care plan in the Fall. Your article is from last February. Just accept that you are wrong and stop spreading lies about Hillary Clinton.

Hillary is one HELL of a campaigner (2.00 / 1)

She may be Obama's best asset.  I look forward to her going on shows and slamming Mccain to the wall.

"I have seen his passion and determination and his grip and his grace, and in his own life he has lived the American dream," she said of Obama.   Wow.  She really is something.  I'm convinced, and glad to have her as my junior senator.

Woot (2.00 / 1)

Good grief. You could almost feel sorry for McCain.

Is her name on the Dem ticket? (2.00 / 1)

No? LOL Todd. It's hot. When that happens I save my energy for basic survival stuff.

Did they announce Sen. Clinton on the Unity ticket? No. An sorry conseving energy now can't expend any "Give a darn" energy at the moment.

Honestly.

I don't think you meant it this way but my reaction to this subject is that you'd just patted her on the head and said good job and then gave her a very special participating ribbon. A ribbon that said, "She's Sen. Obama's special helper." The one that comes with the special "autographed" glamor shot press photos that they send out to the masses when they ask for money.

LOL I am so sorry. I promise that I'm not attacking you personally or your enthusiam for Sen. Clinton. It's the truth. I don't know what could be done to change my reaction or for that matter if you really care. But it just reads on this side of the screen as spin.

Plus I'd be alot more interested if Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama showed up to vote:D,

Also, increasing the absurdity of the Hillis44 type folks is always good stuff as well.

way to go Hillary. If you don't vote for Obama, ain't you voting for McCain? That would be like cutting off your nose because you don't like your face..

If she decides to tear into McCain, (none / 0)

I may feel sorry for him.

Nah.

She's hellacious, and I mean that as a compliment.

Good. No matter what position she holds, I want her championing universal health care and we should all support her in this effort.
