In a sign that Hillary Clinton may intend to brand herself as healthcare crusader in this post-primary period, today Clinton spoke to the American Nurses Association convention in Washington, DC in what was her first official public appearance since endorsing Barack Obama earlier this month. She used her speech to slam McCain's health care "plan".
"It is absolutely unbelievable that the healthcare plan he has proposed would cause millions of hardworking Americans to lose the coverage they already have," Clinton said during a speech to the American Nurses Association convention in Washington, DC on Thursday. "So what ever issue you care about, what ever your passion may be, we have to join together and present a united front."
She also urged the nurses to support Senator Obama's candidacy.
The former first lady called on the group that had originally endorsed her "to do everything you can to help elect Barack Obama." The ANA has not officially endorsed Obama."I have seen his passion and determination and his grip and his grace, and in his own life he has lived the American dream," she said of Obama.
This is going to be fun watching Clinton parlay the scrappy fighter persona that she emerged as later in the primary process into a full on assault on John McCain. Whether she's on the ticket or not, Hillary Clinton is going to be absolutely invaluable to Barack Obama this year.
