Bill Clinton Offers Support to Barack Obama

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080624/ap_o n_el_pr/obama_president_clinton Today, President Bill Clinton has released through a spokesman, Matt McKenna, that he "is obviously committed to doing whatever he can and is asked to do to ensure Senator Obama is the next president of the United States." This means an endorsement is nigh. This is a great thing for unity, and will further bring the party together.

They still need to mend fences, i think Bill was hurt more than Hillary by the tone of the campaign, the big Teddy bear just needs some love:)

and I'll try to be philisophical about it. Look sharply at Donna and you're dead before you hit the ground. Friend of mine died early in the year (young. sad.), and in posting a story about how I made Donna laugh describing some of his antics online, some nihilistic fuck - for no reason at all - posted the most sexually violent words I have ever seen. Directed at Donna.

Of course he was an anonymous coward, but I have my feelers out should he ever be identified in the (temporarily) corporeal world...

Anyway, I give spouses way more slack than candidates. Must be hell putting up with the attacks that are part of the landscape.

I thought I was far enough along since then that I could just relate that episode here as an example. Wrong. Leaves me feeling shaken just to read my own comment here, still.

Just words, right?

Words are what we have. Strip away everything else - sight, sound, touch, taste - we have words. Cities are built and cities are burned because of how we use words. Our intentions may be more true, but words are what we offer between ourselves.

For my part I'll take the opportunity to apologize to anyone who has been hurt by my words. My intent is never to hurt, but I own the results of my words. For good or ill.

I know what it means to lose a friend and I know what it means to think the wounds are closer to healed than they are.

We all too often ignore the effects of our own words...and we all too often ignore the realities of our own feelings.

For what it is worth both of your comments struck a chord with me and I felt the pain that that you spoke of.

I do hope that, in time, you will not feel so shaken by the past. It is a long road though I know...

I had this poli-fantasy last night where Bill and Michelle took a 4 month roadtrip doing small town stump speeches in all 50 states.

How awesome would that be?

in the places where Bill would be needed, Michelle may not be as welcome a sight. He is needed in the Appalachian regions, and Florida, where Obama performed poorly. Frankly, many of these places, not they'd "never" vote for a black guy, but many of these places may have been where they were very apprehensive about it, and trusted the Clintons in part because they not only knew and liked them, but that was part of the equation. these people need more convincing. Michelle may still be unpopular in these regions. These states include PA, KY, TN, AR, WV, and maybe LA, all of which went Clinton twice, where either Obama could win, or create a big diversion for John McCain, leaving Obama open to go to other battle grounds. Also, Bill would be needed in Florida, where he was loved, especially with Jews there, who haven't warmed up to Obama just yet. Also, I don't think he and Michelle would have good chemistry, especially after she expressed her desire to scratch Bill Clinton's eyes out.

Yeah, while I like the idea emotionally, I agree it would be problematic at best. In line with my comment below, these two have the best reasons of anyone in the country to be, um, sore about the primary contest.

Give them a break, let them not be forced to smile too much at each other, just yet.
