FISA and Hillary

Where is Hillary on FISA?  Her leadership in the Senate on this issue would be a perfect vindication for all who supported her.  It strikes me that the perfect coordination of presidential ambitions would be for Hillary to organize and lead opposition to this FISA debacle while Barak seriously and vocally supports her.

What say you Hillary fans?  Barak fans?  Isn't this why people supported her to be the President -- to lead us to a new place of lawfulness and integrity?

What say you?!

by JustJennifer on Thu Jun 19, 2008 at 09:40:39 PM EST

Look, (2.00 / 4)

no matter WHAT Hillary would say right now would be the right thing for her to say.  If she voiced her opinion against the bill, she'd be accused of trying to out-do Obama, claiming the limelight once again.

If the stated she's for it (which I do NOT think she would do), well, you can only imagine the outrage that would follow then.

I think it is perfectly fine for her, at this time, to take some time off after the grueling primary race she's been through, and give things some thought before responding to ANYTHING right now.

Obama is the leader right now.  Let HIM be the first one to take a position, and wait to see what Hillary says after that.

Fair?  I think so.  Your diary, not so much.

Can anyone here ever let go of Hillary for just one moment, let alone a few days or a well-deserved month off.

I'm sure that even during that during her time off she will NOT abandon her responsibilities as a Senator.  Why keep hammering at her?  Have you no heart?  Obama won.  It's up to him now to pick up where she left off.  No more excuses please.

Re: Senate takes a long beak after next week (2.00 / 1)

What do you mean by that? I mean Obama hasn't been participating much in the Senate ever since he started running for President, some three months after he won the Senate seat, stating that he would NOT run for president since he was too in-experienced. His excuse for not holding a single hearing on the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee of which he was appointed chair of, was that he was too busy running his presidential campaign. Why, o why, is he excused from these things, while Hillary, who showed up for all the important votes while running for office, is being scolded and held to a far more vigorous standard than Obama ever has been held to? Tell me, oh please tell me? Where has Obama led in any of the Senate's most urgent issues since he became a Senator? List me one, just ONE? If you can't, then just shut up about Hillary. She's done far more than he ever has, even while she was running. Where's our new leader on FISA? It's Hillary's fault because she doesn't chart the way for him? That's the latest storyline. Where is he when decisions need to be made in less than 24 hours (and this one seems to be an urgent one). Come on.

Re: FISA and Hillary (2.00 / 2)

I think I answered that question already.

No matter what she would say, it would be used against her.  Why can't you all just let go of her for one single second, and enjoy/celebrate your victory, instead of continuing to haunt her.

I do not understand your lack of compassion for her after she lost.  Why is she still on you list of most important people to villify AFTER she dropped out and conceded, supporting Obama?  Why do you all insist on continuing and perpetuating a "hunt" for her by all means, and by all methods?

If this is the kind of unity you long for, please go ahead and have it.  But I personally cannot participate.  If Obama had lost, my compassion meter for him would be far higher than yours is for Hillary.

I would not have these expectations of him that you now project upon her.

Just let go of her, please.  At least for a few days or weeks.

And she still is.  She'd never let you down.  She won her re-election with a 67% approval rating.  There's most likely a good reason for it.

You may be in the minority here.  Anyway, what is the problem with allowing her to have some time off after a grueling 16 month primary campaign - to catch her breath and to reflect on those 16 months before making further decisions.

Are you not human?  Would you not want the same thing for yourself?

Re: FISA and Hillary (2.00 / 1)

Now there's a way to do it.  I agree with you.  Write to her, call her office and let your opinion be known.

At the same time, respect her wish to take time to re-group and think about what needs to be done here.

She's always been a good player, and the outcome may be something Obama supporters are hoping for.

To once again, interpret her motives ahead of time, leaves no openings other than keeping her labelled as something unproven and unwarranted.

Re: FISA and Hillary (2.00 / 2)

Not so much.  If you've followed her campaign at all, she's opposed much of what you propose she went for.

Lack of information and research on her.  Plenty of acceptance of the picture the Republicans spent millions of dollars for 16 years to villify her.

Thanks for helping them out.  Too bad you can't find the time to do some research not tainted by, you know, the media that sold us the Iraq war, the same ones that tell us that Hillary is the evil Satan from hell.

I feel sorry for you for your ignorance.  You are buying into the same merchandise presented to us by the corporations and their media - killing the one candidate who truly has the guts to stand up against them.

Why the hell do you all think they are so much against here?  And where the hell is Obama on FISA?

All I hear now is that HILLARY should be the one charging the course, while Obama needs 24 or more hours to decide on this.

Give me a break, please.  Let him lead the way, and perhaps, NOW?  If not NOW, when?

How many hours does he need to make a decision?

24?
