Unify This: Who is Off the Island

Some thing we can agreed to disagree because we are mostly unity. Let's see if are unified behind who we would toss of the Island and out of The Village. (I saw this as a most excellent question w/o poll on Sadly, No and had to bring it here. )

If you could kick one villager off the island who would it be? Now I am assuming that Judith Miller is, for all intents and purposes, off the island. So she is not here. And because alot of people did get furious at Olbermann I am including him, but I expect him to get few votes.

Ideally include a pointer with a comment on why your person deserves to be booted off the island. If you add a comment I will (assuming I can as I have never done so) edit the poll to include the Islander you most love to hate.

For me, it is Maureen Dowd that I most want off the island. She has been toxic to the national discourse by making the political into the pornographic. Her pretense that somehow her uterus betrays her as a progressive while her words prove her to be among the most vicious elements of the backlash bring her forward. Most of these Villagers are toads, but know they are toads. She denies her warts. She has done more to degrade public discourse into a long series of slurs against decent men for being decent and against women for being women than any other person in America.

And I will just leave you with these leagues of Dowdisms:

There are so many to want off the island. I know I forgot some of the most terrible, because putting O'Reilly here is like asking if you would rather have to eat bad chocolate pudding, cat food or radioactive waste. He is in a class of badness by himself (ok maybe drudge..)

So Vote!

That was great. I get to vote first so Dowd is 100% awful.

I fell self-unified.

Re: Unify This: Who is Off the Island (2.00 / 2)

Can we add Lou Dobbs? I voted for Novak, but I really want to write in Dobbs.

We can get Dobbs off the island (2.00 / 3)

by letting a few immigrants on.

Re: We can get Dobbs off the island (2.00 / 1)

Or as Dobbs likes to refer to them, "lepers."

What an ass.

Dobbs is a jerk... (2.00 / 1)

His show is so disgustingly xenophobic... And at times, downright racist.

No way, no how, no McCain! :-)

Re: Dobbs is a jerk... (none / 0)

I added Dobbs if you want to vote.

Let's visuale Novak being tossed off a cruise ship .... and Plame laughing.

Seconded! (none / 0)

Dobbs is a complete tool, and a dull tool at that.  No, Lou, my state is not undeserving of being part of the U.S. because we prosecuted (gasp!) a man who broke the gun laws...so fuck off!

I must admit, though, I'm puzzled as to why Tucker Carlson isn't on the list--in my mind, Tucker, Matthews, and Dobbs comprise an Unholy Trinity of Fucking Stoopid, all of whom are worthy of eviction.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were no rhetorical questions?

Re: Unify This: Who is Off the Island (2.00 / 2)

Isn't Novak the clear favorite to get tossed?

Re: Unify This: Who is Off the Island (2.00 / 1)

I'm not sure. There are lots of good candidates, especially depending on your personal pet peeve. So far, five people have votes, so we'll call those the front runners.

Dowd was mentioned in the article by the author.

Chris Matthews has a well-established track record of saying things that... well, let's just say I learned the true meaning of the term "facepalm" while reading an article about something he said. At the start of the year, he had NOW petitioning NBC for his removal for sexist comments said to that point. Since then, there have been six more months of the same.

Bob Novak is the sleaziest of the bunch, between Plame and pretty much everything else I've ever seen him say.

Kristof I had to look up... The only thing I saw that was offensive was his statement that sweatshops were good for Taiwan and S. Korea, since the revenue investment helped modernize the country and reduce infant mortality.

Olbermann has always been a little pompous and has waned in terms of popularity, especially in light of the Couric "Worst Person in the World" thing. He also has the most recent offensive comment.

So, to summarize:
Dowd - Toxic
Matthews - Sexist
Novak - Sleazy
Kristof - Callous
Olbermann - Pompous
Other - Presumably "all of the above"

May I leave with you? (2.00 / 1)

I'm having such a hard time picking that I think I just make things easier for all the Corporate Media Village Idiots  by leaving myself. So please, may I join you on that lifeboat? ;-)

Re: Unify This: Who is Off the Island (2.00 / 2)

Keith ' He is No Edward Murrow " Olberman , should be off the island.

I know... (2.00 / 2)

He's been such a disappointment. I really think he fell to a new low when he named Katie Couric as "worst person in the world" for simply pointing out the ugly sexist attacks against Hillary Clinton. Olbermann is a truly nasty Corporate Media Village Idiot... And he certainly is no Edward R. Murrow!

Re: I know... (none / 0)

I never found anything really impressive about him even prior to the primary .

I really have no interest in fringe zealots on any side of the partisan divide , as bad as Chris " I have a thrill up my leg"  Matthews was in his commentary especially the instances I felt he made sexist ones , Olbermann was a disgrace to Cable TV.

Most times he looked unstable to me especially during his phony special comments on Clinton.

It appears that Olberman is (none / 0)

doing better than you thought.

I agree, Dowd is a total prat, but Olberman has been a notable disappointment.  I used to watch his special comments over and over and over, sometimes tearing up at the mere thought that someone who had a national pulpit was finally speaking out. And then.... And then.

Dowd, I'd put on a life raft, with drinking water.  Olberman, I'd put on a life raft, with plenty of sweet, sweet kool-aid.

Re: It appears that Olberman is (none / 0)

I'd put Olberman on a raft with Lanny Davis. Give him something to chew on.
