Barack and Hillary - Joint appearance June 26th

The Daily News reports

Hillary Clinton will join Barack Obama for a joint appearance in Washington next week to persuade her donors to begin giving to the Democrats' nominee, the Daily News has learned.

Jonathan Mantz, Clinton's national finance director, sent top Clinton fundraisers an e-mail today inviting them to the event on June 26.

"As we move forward, we invite you to join us for a National Finance Committee meeting with both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama on Thursday, June 26th in Washington, D.C., to discuss how we can work together to support Barack Obama and the Democratic Party," Mantz wrote.

I haven't found much other press coverage of this yet; Newsday has a brief article:

WASHINGTON - The Barack and Hillary Reunion Tour has booked its first gig.

Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama will appear side by side June 26 for the first time since the former first lady suspended her presidential bid, for a fundraiser where she'll try to persuade former donors to share the wealth with Obama.

The low-key duet at Washington's Mayflower Hotel comes after Clinton's June 7 withdrawal announcement.

Does this mean they're going to announce a joint ticket?

Should be better than Giuliani/McCain (2.00 / 1)

I remember the pathetic press conference where Rudy essentially admitted that he was just there to act as a spoiler against Romney in Florida.

I continue to assert that the extended Democratic primary has been really good for us, because we're getting these unity bumps and media coverage much closer to the conventions and election.

If I had it to do over again, I'd strike a little of the more specious attacks on each side, but I'd still have it play out just as contested as it was.  I wouldn't trade Operation Chaos for the world... you know how many donations and voter registrations Rush indirectly caused?

Why does she need to persuade her donors to support him? Shouldn't he be doing that himself?

Re: Barack and Hillary - Joint appearance June 26t (none / 0)

She is a Democrat and every Democrat is working to get their constituents and supporters on board for victory. She is also an adult and fought like hell during the primary and now having accepted the results with the class expected of a grown up and a professional she will fight like hell for the winner.

No surprise. The Clintons have been at this for a while it's not like this was their first election.

In my opinion it looks like she's holding his hand.

If he's after her big donors he should face them alone to ask for their money.

She will have more influence with her own people so of course she is going to 'hold his hand'.

If I was after a new client and had someone who the client trusted willing to go to bat for me of course I'd use them. Unless of course I was a complete idiot. Hillary wants Obama to win so she will do everything possible to make that happen. Obama will use every resource available to him including the Clintons.

What is your point? They are working together for a common goal. It's a no brainer.
