What's it Good For?

Senator John McCain tells us that that the war in Iraq is "necessary and just", and hey, good news: Bush's surge is a success! Will it work for the next 100 years? Let's take a glance at May of this year to see how well everything is working so far, eh?

We're still winning hearts and minds this month. Think July will be just a good?

Help Barack Obama and the Democratic Party put an end to the damage that George W. Bush has done, and work to defeat John McCain in the fall.

Re: What's it Good For? (2.00 / 1)

There was a report on NPR yesterday about a Sunni family who had returned to Bagdad. But only to sell their house.

When the reporters arrived at the Sunnis' home, their Shi'a neighbors were there, to welcome their friends back, but the Sunni family felt they could only speak frankly when the Shi'as had left.

And when the reporter went to the Shi'a family's home, the 'patriarch' (he sounded very old) said that it was only a matter of time before the Shi'as took their revenge on the remaining Sunnis.

Both families had lost relatives to the violence and chaos.

But the surge is working. Somehow.

I heard that too.  The amount of damage done is staggering, on so many levels.

Ah, damn... (2.00 / 1)

This is the sort of thing which should be on the rec list. But we're at MyDD, so naturally, it isn't. Going down that chart and looking at the Iraqi civilian deaths is staggering. I noticed that between 5/19 and 5/20/08, none were killed. And I'm wondering, under a Republican administration, is that considered a good day or a bad day?

Even John McCain lusts after teh engels.

Re: Ah, damn... (2.00 / 1)

Might just be that none were found and counted.  Many argue that (fairly credibly) that the Iraqi numbers are grossly under reported.

Thanks for dropping in for a look.
