. . . but don't boo her !!!

So, the mere mention of Hillary's name was boo-ed last night, and gentlemanly Obama said it was wrong.  Hmmm . . . .

We told you she's a shrill and cackling old lady. . . but don't boo her!

When she said it took a president to sign civil rights legislation into law, we told you she was disrespecting MLK and JFK . . .but don't boo her!

We told you we needed to turn the page on self obsessed boomers like her . . . but don't boo her!

When I got Republican support, it was a sign of my post partisan appeal, but when she got Republican support, we told you it was a racist plot by Rush Limbaugh . . . but don't boo her!

We told you she "darkened my pictures on her web site" . . . but don't boo her!

We referred to the peace, prosperity and advancing social justice of the 90's as a failure . . . but don't boo her!

We made daily references to Monica and unnamed unspecific allegations of philandering by Bill (including Michele saying Hillary should `take care of her house' . . . but don't boo her!

We said she was an emblem of the evils of crony-ism and dynastic politics (although we have no problem with Jesse Jackson, Jr. or Caroline Kennedy getting high level slots) . . . but don't boo her!

We intentionally destroyed her husband's reputation in black America with accusations of racism (see the South Carolina memos!)  . . . but don't boo her!

When she referred to RFK's assassination to refer to a point in time, we told you she was banking on Obama's assassination . . . but don't boo her!

I didn't even give her the courtesy of looking her in the face, but while looking down scribbling on my pad, I dismissed her as "likeable enough" . . . but don't boo her!

Even after she endorsed me, my campaign still puts out negative information on her daily, to destroy her reputation in an effort to keep her off the ticket . . . but don't boo her!

We told you sexism was a silly myth and had no impact on this election . . . but don't boo her!

She's the worst person in the world (repeatedly) (as are newscasters who accuse the media of sexism)  . . . but don't boo her!

We told you her critique of Rev. Wright was a sign of racist disrespect for the black church (until we cynically dumped my "surrogate father") . . . but don't boo her!

And, to the 48%+ of the party that selected delegates supporting Hillary, and to the majority of primary voters that supported her . . . I'm sure none of you will be insulted by the boos, and sit this one out if she's not the veep, right?  Right?  Hello? Where'd you go?

PS - I know, I know, the spin is that they were booing Granholm . . . the one we told down state voters we needed to "primary", 'cause she supported Hillary, right?  After all, who needs Granholm when we can rely on Kwame's support, good press, and statewide influence?  And, considering that Obama's campaign surely reviewed the text of her remarks ahead of time, Granholm's really appreciative of the boos today, right?  Just all fired up and itching to go, I'm sure!

UPDATE - SERIOUSLY, DO FOLKS NOT GET THE DISCONNECT BETWEEN AXELROD BAD MOUTHING HILLARY TO THE PRESS OFF THE RECORD IN THE MORNING, TELLING THEM THE SOLIS-DOYLE APPOINTMENT MEANS WE'RE NOT GIVING IT TO HILLARY, AND THEN OBAMA BEING "Shocked! Shocked, I tell you!" WHEN HIS CROWD BOOS HER AT NIGHT? THAT'S TWO FACED BULL.

Agree with the tag line of your first comment, and with Obama's reprimand to the booers.

But much of your diary is opening old partisan wounds. I won't go there. It's over. But you're flying some red flags there. Perhaps you know it.

Such a clever tactic... (1.60 / 5)

To post the names of people that disagree with  you...

Call them out publicly, and throw in a dose of McCarthyism..

That doesn't come across as juvenile and bullying...

That's a really good way to unite your party...

Why attack Republicans when it is so much easier and fun to continue to beat up on fellow Democrats...

Keep the Party pure!

Hail Obama!

Actually... (2.00 / 2)

I think it is called... calling people out, and if I am not mistaken it is a bannable offense.

The objective is to intimidate people with whom you don't agree by naming them publicly.  It is an ugly and mean spirited tactic.

But my real point here is that it is counterproductive to what you profess to want to achieve. You say you want to mend fences and bring the party together, but instead you continue this program of insults and ridicule of anyone that does not fall in line with your thinking. If you keep it up you are only going to further alienate those you say you want to form an alience with.

TEH OUTRAGEOUS!!1! (1.66 / 3)

So you think it's not reasonable to question where people who are never around suddenly appear to rec. trash like this? I think it's a perfectly reasonable question. Where did I call out or bully these people? I'm just asking where they are.

As for this:

You say you want to mend fences and bring the party together, but instead you continue this program of insults and ridicule of anyone that does not fall in line with your thinking. If you keep it up you are only going to further alienate those you say you want to form an alience with.

I don't really care who you or these people vote for. Deciding who to vote depending on what some anonymous person says on the internet is immature and petty. Pathetic.

Re: LOL!!!!! (1.75 / 4)

That may be what the diarist is doing, but the diarist's candidate did not win the Democratic nomination. The diarist's candidate is not the one running for president anymore. The diarist's candidate does not need your vote. It is your candidate that needs the diarist's candidate's votes, and you seem to be doing everything you can to insure that he does not get them. So, keep up the insults and bullying tactics... Keep booing Hillary... It's just for the Presidency of the United States...

Where did I boo her? For what it's worth I get along great with most of the REAL Clinton supporters around here. The mature ones. It's the concern trolls and PUMA's which bring a smile to my face.

I could care less who this diarist votes for. This is the same person who called on 2 Democratic Senators to resign and was concerned about Scarlett Johanson enough to write a diary about it

I really don't care who you vote for either. Spare me the drama please.

Re: Such a clever tactic... (2.00 / 3)

These are not secret names.. they are available to all, and it is a legitimate question as to where a bunch or relative unknowns come from to rec up a divisive diary?

To question, to challenge is perfectly acceptable, especially when it seems suspect. To mildly accept and ignore is silly and counterproductive. I would agree with you if these names where behind some firewall and available to the Mods only... but they are not.

You have to stop doing this (1.66 / 3)

You always call people out - put their names up, inviting other posters to harass them.  You did it all the time to Alegre - and now you do it to anyone you want to make go away.

Were you part of the `lets go get her in the real world' anti-Alegre pile on that happened last week?  I was appalled by the implicit threats attached to that diary.  Do you know what it means to have someone actually come after you?  I do.  I was attacked by right wingers who took exception to my feminist viewpoint.  They broke the fourth wall.  They ferreted out personal information attacking me directly in my home.  It got so bad the case was turned over to the FBI where I am told it is still an on-going investigation.

So back off on the 'gotcha' tactics.  The diarist is entitled to his/her opinion.  Disagree?  Well comment on that.  Its bad enough you toss the `troll' label around like confetti.  Calling people out - making `examples' of them is going too damn far - not to mention smacking of fascism.

My opinion on the diary?  I think the diarist is attaching blame to the Obama campaign that rightly belongs to the media.  There.  No pejoratives, no personal attacks.  Just my opinion.

No personal attacks? You are so full of shit. (1.50 / 4)

You better offer up proof that I harassed alegre before you go around throwing baseless allegations. Your holier than thou comment is absurd.

Posting the names of people who rec'd this diary is the same as fascism? I'm ferreting personal information? The FBI?

Before accusing me of anything why don't you find that diary and see what I wrote. Could you do that for me please?

I love people who talk smack and then play coy and innocent.

Link to the google cache of the diary in question or STFU please.

Just STFU.

If you are against calling people out (none / 0)

Then why do it?  And getting personal and nasty with me doesn't change things.  I re-read the comments on that particular diary (the ones I could find as the diary itself was deleted) - and you did indeed tell people to stop towards the end when it got crazy.  I apologize for connecting you to the violent tripe that thread degenerated into.  I've been threatened before - and it provokes a big reaction.

But if you really believe that - if you really think calling someone out is as wrong as you said back then - then why do it now?  It's inconsistent.

By the way - my troll rating on you is for the language and personal attack.  Totally unnecessary.

You either need to get over it and learn ignore the immature who think booing is funny and move on. Or finally just come out and say your voting for McCain and find some other place to post.

Since it apparently only takes 4 recs to get something on the rec list, the sensible thinkers around here should just go and rec much more deserving diaries rather than this tripe.

Re: . . . but don't boo her !!! (2.00 / 6)

The hell it is. It's ripping off a bandage and rubbing dirt into an open wound. And it's based entirely on opinion. We're almost rid of these diaries that take this kind of white-knight/black-knight, good/evil look at the campaign and instead speak of it with the nuance and seriousness it deserves. Let's not be children.

Re: . . . but don't boo her !!! (2.00 / 7)

You are bitter... and no wonder, because you have a very ugly memory of the primary campaign. Even ignoring the fact that you will never, ever separate a campaign from negativity (not even a high school election is free of poeple taking it to the extreme), several of the points you made are just blatantly false.

If I were you, I would actually step back and rethink. Not just whether all of these things actually happened, not just whether you haven't exaggerated some of those things in your mind, not just whether your negative feelings about Obama (both justified and unjustified) clouded your feelings, but whether it's worth it to think this way in the first place.

Drop the hate and then look back at these moments with objectivity. Look at things Obama's people got angry about with objectivity. It happened on both sides, but if I was still angry about all the things Hillary said in the campaign, then I'd be miserable.

Re: . . . but don't boo her !!! (2.00 / 3)

If I was still angry about some of the things that people I can call allies on here said, I'd be miserable.

Start with the "likable enough" remark. It's on YouTube. Look at the reactions on his face and Hillary's when he says it. He holds a straight face as he says it, then breaks out into a little grin as she does a little happy dance. It was a joke about the ridiculousness of pundits talking about who was likable and unlikable. And if it wasn't meant to be a joke, why would he have said it at all?! He interjected it into her comment. Why would you do that unless you were trying to make a joke that defused that very sad question that they asked her?

Re: . . . but don't boo her !!! (2.00 / 6)

Aha, I get it!  Obama told Axelrod to say something (no link, so I don't know what) to a reporter, so that an audience member would "boo" Clinton, so that Obama could call that out and praise Clinton, so that the final nails would at last be driven into the coffin of Clinton's defeat, thereby ensuring his victory and a hundred-year setback to women's rights.

Truly, his evil is as subtle as it is vast.

Bitter much? (2.00 / 2)

Look, a crowd was revved for their candidate, and more than likely would have booed ice cream if it wasn't their  candidate (who was uncharacteristically late).

I am very glad to see Obama chastised them, as he should.  And lauded Clinton, as he should.

I can understand, it was a long, tough campaign, and it's going to take a while for Hillary's supporters to get through the grieving process.

But do not mistake this: 99% of Obama's supporters feel just like Obama.  Hillary is and will continue to be a formidable Democrat, she has a great future, there is great respect for her, and great respect for her supporters.

Now, have a hug, go smell the roses for a bit, relax and rejuvenate.  We all have work to do for our party.  ;-)

We made daily references to Monica and unnamed unspecific allegations of philandering by Bill

That's a big claim... daily.  In rational debate, you are expected to support claims.

Please post 492 links - one each day since Barack Obama declared his candidacy - in which the Obama campaign references "Monica and unnamed unspecific allegations of philandering by Bill."  Support your claims, retract them, or be known as a liar.

(including Michele saying Hillary should `take care of her house'

The full quote:

So our view was that, if you can't run your own house, you certainly can't run the White House. So, so we've adjusted our schedules to make sure that our girls are first, so while he's traveling around, I do day trips. That means I get up in the morning, I get the girls ready, I get them off, I go and do trips, I'm home before bedtime. So the girls know that I was gone somewhere, but they don't care. They just know that I was at home to tuck them in at night, and it keeps them grounded, and, and children, the children in our country have to know that they come first.

You have now been educated.  You no longer have ignorance as an excuse.  If I see you use that talking point again, it gets HRed.

PARTY UNITY (2.00 / 1)

While I don't agree with the attacks on Obama, I think that many seem not to appreciate the imperative of OBAMA himself taking a far more vigorous role in healing the wounds of the campaign.  OBAMA IS THE PARTY LEADER, SO HE IS RESPONSIBLE AND MUST LEAD.

For starters, he needs to do a few key things:

  1.  speak about sexism in our country, with the eloquence he devoted to racism.
  2.  make vastly more clear to his supporters (and, most important, to his surrogates) that the anti-Hillary comments and language are unacceptable.
  3.  actually make an effort to reach out to the 49% of Dems who voted for Hillary, such as spending time in WV and KY; his choice to IGNORE those states (while politically understandable) was a real slap-in-the-face to many.

Obama surely has my vote, because I am a Democrat, and because McCain (aka, another 4 years of Bush) would be a disaster.  Obama has not, yet, however, won my support.  That difference is critical.

So, while ignoring the shrill, neither Obama supporters nor the Party can afford to ignore the intense anger and disillusionment with both the Party (its silence on sexism and preference for Obama), or with Obama himself.

PS, I do NOT believe that sexism caused HRC to lose the nomination.  The cause was a poorly run campaign.  But that fact in no way diminishes the vile sexism promulgated by other, but never dis-owned, by Obama.  We have work to do!

Re: . . . but don't boo her !!! (2.00 / 1)

Half of your assertions are unsupported, the other half are indictments of the media and ground-level supporters. There's also a smattering of manufactured indignation, like choosing to interpret "Likable enough" as some sort of sexist attack.

A dozen or so Hillary supporters booed Obama at her concession. A dozen or so Obama supporters booed Hillary here. If you have a problem with any public figure who can produce a dozen assholes in a crowd of thousands, you need to get out of the political world right now.

Both Obama and Clinton got catty in the primary, but that's where it stopped. Overall, both have remained cordial and gracious. If you'll damn the man for sticking up for her just as you did for saying nothing (and by the way, it's not his job or area of experience to address sexism; he wrote a speech on race because its an issue in his own life he can understand and speak to as gender difficulties never can be for him), then you're simply anti-Obama.

And anti-Democratic candidate diaries are troll-rated, plain and simple.
