Stop posting about past bloggers

I am going to explain something ENOUGH ALREADY. I used to post stuff about Alegre at dailykos. I meant it when I said I came here to mend fences. What you and others are doing will not help only make things worse. Please stop paying attention to stuff like that.

If you look for things that bloggers say then all you are going to be doing is creating more pie fights. The primary season is over.  It is time to move on and focus on the general election.

I have no power to do anything, but only to ask others to listen. Please lets stop posting on bloggers. Focus on other things because right now we have a battle for the White House going on and I want to see Barack Obama as President.

I took a pledge to not post about other bloggers.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/6 /4/15323/69184/335/529540

Today we are all Dems again and together we bring back focus on the issue. John McCain is the one we are fighting not Hillary Clinton and not her bloggers. We must come together.

Its a testament to her effectiveness as an advocate for Hillary Rodham Clinton.

She moved here from that other site and immediately had an impact in her advocacy for Clinton.

Even though she hasn't blogged here for sometime , there is still a diary about her almost on a daily basis .

Some Obama supporters just can't get enough of her.

The attraction is almost fatal lol.

That is why I have learned it doesn't help. I came here to try and help others see that. If we are to become united we need to move on past it. I'm Deleting My Alegre Diary (2.00 / 5)

I apologize if I offended people by posting my diary this evening about Alegre's comments.

Here's what I've learned so far:

1) There are apparently people who have deeper issues with Alegre than I do. I just didn't like what she wrote.

2) Fewer people read Hillary's Bloggers than I thought, so it probably wasn't worth bringing undue attention to Alegre's anti-Democrat diary.

3) My ill-conceived attempt at criticizing bloggers who sow division within the party has led to greater division within this community. Whoops.

For these reasons, I'm going to delete my diary. Anyone having conversations over there better finish them up in the next few minutes.

Again, sorry to those who were offended by what I wrote and/or the comments it provoked.

Re: I'm Deleting My Alegre Diary (2.00 / 2)

Done.

A quick post mortem:

1) Sorry to those who were offended.

2) Sorry to those who lost comments.

3) The purpose of the diary was to discuss what Alegre wrote today, not what she does for a living or what kind of car she drives. The RL stuff was out of hand and I did not participate.

4) Thanks to the site admins for recognizing that my diary was only "borderline deleteable" -- I guess that means there was some redeeming value to the point I was trying to make.

5) I'm supporting the Democratic candidate for president. If you're not, I'm going to continue to let you know why I think you're wrong. If you happen to have a blog here or somewhere else, that is not a "get out of jail free card" that prevents me from criticizing things you choose to blog about.

Roland Martin called out Dem bloggers (2.00 / 6)

on CNN last night.  He pointed out that a lot of the smears against Barack Obama that they were having to deal with were coming from (gasp) certain Democratic bloggers!  In fact, he named a couple, Larry Johnson at NoQuarter being one.  Larry, of course, has been the tip of the spear for the "Whitey" smear.

All this kumbaya is just horseshit if we don't recognize that there are some recalcitrant assholes out there that are more than just mad because their candidate lost.  They are damaging the Democratic nominee's chances for November, and at this point, it's clear, they are doing it on purpose.  "Coming together" and "unity" are all fine and dandy, but let's not pretend everything is reparable, because it's not.

Re: Roland Martin called out Dem bloggers (1.85 / 7)

Exactly. I don't give a damn about unity with people pushing racist smears against our nominee. Or with the people who write front page diaries on known hate sites.

People like SoCalDarlin fit into both of the aforementioned categories, while people like alegre fit into the second. I don't want unity with that. It makes far more sense to engage with people who aren't actively trying to undermine our nominee instead of pushing for pseudounity with racists and deadenders.

Past bloggers but current sites (2.00 / 1)

How do we address the current crop of websites by people who are historically good Democrats, but who are urging things like a McCain/Hillary candidacy, trying to unseat John Kerry in Mass, leaving the party, etc.?  And of course some of the really frightening stuff on one particularly noxious site.

Are these sites just arenas for frustrated non-Obama-supporting Democrats who are blowing off steam, and do they really have some effect on who wins the GE?  I have no idea if they need to be ignored or dealt with loudly in some way, but the rage and sadness and ill-will that fills them, I think is bound to spill over into the election in some way.

Unfortunately, the ones I have looked at are either the property of many of the former bloggers on this site who have left, or these guys do a lot of contributing to them.  I agree about calling out people individually, but I also think (and please correct me if this is wrong) that they will have some effect on this election.

Today we are all Dems again and together we bring back focus on the issue. John McCain is the one we are fighting not Hillary Clinton and not her bloggers. We must come together.

If this were true there wouldn't be a problem.  The main ones taking shots now are those who can not get over that HRC lost and now support John McCain.  Just like in real life (if to a lesser extent because the passion a site like this engenders) most HRC supporters are rational people who are disappointed but know Obama is a lot more like HRC than McCain.  Its the minority that keep this stuff up (I was going to link but I'll keep it anonymous.   People know who they are.)
McCain = Iraq. John McCain = overturn Roe.

By giving them attention (2.00 / 1)

you give them reasons to keep doing what they are doing. By not paying attention you take away their ability to effect you. Once you move on and stop worrying about it then it doesn't effect like many of them would want it to. You can avoid being distracted by it if you just focus on the main Goal Winning the White House.

Really? (2.00 / 1)

Certain diarists were on the rec list every day, sometimes with up to three diaries on there at once.  These were not all lovey dovey positive diaries.

I think it is perfectly valid for people still to be talking about those diarists.  If the community didn't want the diaries to make such a huge and lasting impact on people it shouldn't have recced them every single day regardless of content.

I used to post a lot at dailykos in a bad (none / 0)

way that didn't help. I have learned it doesn't help all it does is make things worst. It is easy for honest people to allow emotion to replace reason during those times. A lot is said that might not normally say.

Re: I used to post a lot at dailykos in a bad (none / 0)

I think part of the problem is the Internet.   We are all passionate people about politics and if we post from the gut sometimes we say things that aren't quite true or are over the top, but express our true emotional frustration.  You can't see the faces of the people who read your posts. Easy to flame if you can't see someone's reaction to your anger.  Anyway...ita always going to be a part of the process.  There are those moments when you just have to "STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER" before responding and imagine the goal is really to persuade, and not get a pat on the back from those who agree with you anyway.

Re: I used to post a lot at dailykos in a bad (2.00 / 1)

I agree. I was actually better in real life when it came to interacting with people, but the blogsphere life was a different story. My emotions seemed to come up. Sometimes real life frustration of things would allow me to direct emotion in ways I normally wouldn't in real life. That is the bad thing about the blogsphere it is so easy to get lost in emotion that we forget there are people behind that computer not just text.

Pledge?  How about Hell to the N-O?

As long as morons like this and this continue to infect the earth, the argument and the battle will continue.  They need to be stopped.

and what does it honestly do (none / 0)

by paying attention? Does being angry at a site actually help change anything? There are things we can do to help, but directing anger at a site does that really help in the end? What does paying attention to those sites truly change?

The Whisper Campaign (none / 0)

anyone can post trash or have a web site, and that person should be called out for misstating the facts.

yes anyone can (none / 0)

and if we just go focus on all those websites when do we focus on real issues?

Obviously the whispers have (none / 0)

become a real issue.

Many folks think Obama is a secret muslim. Where and how do these rumors get started? On blogs, with individual bloggers.

That is why calling them out is wise.
