The Complete A#@holes at HillaryIs44

I heard about Tim Russert's passing this afternoon as a radio person cried while I listened in my car. We lost a great voice of truth today. Meet the Press has become part of my Sunday habits in the past year, and now I wish I'd started watching earlier I would have been better informed.

I haven't been online much of today, but upon coming online tonight, didn't I know that the a#@holes over at HillaryIs44 would have a listing of negative Russert articles, while touting their restraint.

http://www.hillaryis44.org/?p=655

Anybody who continues to be associated with that site is below pond scum in my book.

Sorry for the short diary. Busy night, but I needed to vent a bit.

Nice post Travis. I was especally sickened when I went online to check the reaction there--I figured it would be bad, but the blatant stuff on there is absoutley disgusting, now even encouraged by "Admin" Alex Rodriguez.

It's just stunning how low these people have went, really.

it's not like your browser is yanked to that or any other site. I have never been to that one or Taylor Marsh except by clicking a link in a post and closed the tab real quick. I have enough stuff in real life to be outraged at, I don't feel a need to scour the worst places on the net for more. But some folks seem addicted to constant outrage. I bet you could find similar crap at many other sites.

About Taylor Marsh.... (2.00 / 1)

Check it out. Don't read the forums, which are filled with conspiracy theorists, but check the main page. Taylor has the moral compass to oppose John McCain and the good sense to realize that the way to do it is by supporting Barack Obama.

As for Hillaryis44, today is really a historic low for them. Irrational hate for Obama and the lumping together of everyone in the world who helped him as sexist is one thing (ridiculous), but the vitriol focussed on a specific man who died before his time is something else (disgusting).

Don't even bother with the comments. They're gloating over the Kennedy tumor, the Iowa flooding, and Russert, crossing their fingers that someone kills Olberman. It's the sickest thing I've read online; utterly unrestrained hate. Even hategroups have the grace (or sense of self-preservation) not to air the ugliest of their opinions in bald terms; not so at Hillaryis44. I've never seen a more despicable group of people.

The people at ClintonistasforObama are a credit to democrats everywhere. Taylor Marsh did a lot of harm, but has always acted out of conviction, and I can't fault her that. Hillaryis44 are scum, no more.

Re: About Taylor Marsh.... (2.00 / 0)

Indeed, I was surprised that Taylor Marsh responded to a complaint I made (though only after the nomination was over).  She had an advertisement linked to a book which was rather antisemitic, and accused Obama of being a tool of some vast conspiracy, and, moreover, had shades of Mussolini.

After a complaint, and an explanation of why I thought it was a bad idea (and offensive, as a jew) to have it, there, she took it down.

I don't know if it was cause of me, or more people like me complained. But, she was willing to step back from her In-The-Primary hatred, and do what was best for the future.

People who go there and come back aghast at Hillary supporters make me laugh.  There are crazies and hate mongers who claim to support anyone and everyone across the spectrum.  It's nonsense.  The anonymity of the NET allows them to do this.  Ignore them; and do NOT come back and be appalled that Hillary supporters do this.  It's nonsense and a way to demean Hillary and her real supporters.

Either you're disingenuous or you're not thinking ahead. What do you think will happen to the legislation your favored down-ticket Democrats try to pass when it hits McCain's desk? Or when progressive legislation hits the "unitary executive," TNC-enamored courts McCain appoints? And do you think McCain is going to wait for your favored Democratic Congresspeople to vote for war with Iran before he starts one?

Might as well send your donations directly to McCain.

And by the way, if your real issue is that you don't like Obama, why not at least support the Green or Libertarian candidates for president (or write in Hillary), rather than voting for George III?

Why don't you all forget Hillaryis44?  For all you know, those posters could be a number of people with a lot of different agendas.  It could be a bunch of republican plants attempting to sew divisiveness in the Democratic party.  It could be someone from a blog like this attempting to work out their hatred for Hillary or her supporters.  They could be over there posting comments so that they can bring them back here to say, look what these Hillary supporters are like.  I mean, some of you visit there much more than any of those who support Hillary do.  I only go there when I see diaries like yours to see what you are talking about.  Otherwise I wouldn't bother.  Really, please please please stop obsessing about something that has nameless, faceless, people posting crap on.  These are not real supporters of Hillary Clinton. I think HillaryIs44 is and maybe always was a false flag operation intended to peel off Clinton supporters for McCain.  Most of the 'Democrats' over there were probably never anything of the sort... they are really repubs in dem clothing doing an act.  The irony is that most are probably working on their own and don't know that they are playing to their own choir (the real Dems having bolted some time ago).  The longer it goes on, the more the mask slips, and the more they are revealed to be just a bunch of freepers and redstaters.

A bunch of republicans, pretending to be dems (for the benefit of other republicans they think are dems), crowing about how they will lead half the Democratic party into rebellion and the waiting arms of McCain.

It would be funny if it was not sort of sad.

Re: Russert (none / 0)

That's not actually entirely true.

When a reporter first figured out who ran the site, he called the Clinton campaign before he ran the story.

When he asked about the creator, the woman he was speaking to actually let slip their first name, without him ever mentioning their first name.

It's pretty obvious that even if they weren't directly involved in its creation, they were atleast aware of who was running it before anyone else.

Re: Russert (2.00 / 3)

I suppose part of it comes from hard feelings left over from the primary season. Obama supporters were frequently slandered as being cultists and automotons, yet the most egregious behavior we've seen so far comes from a place where some of the diarists from this site (prominently featured on the rec list for months) participated in or were a part of.

However, if we've seen anything from this, it's that real Clinton supporters are nothing like this. It just sucks- for months, we tried to show those people for who they are, and instead of doing something about it then, we're all gonna get embarassed as hell from their behavior now.

Re: Russert (none / 0)

I didn't want to get into this yesterday, but I'll address your points today. Tim Russert was a powerful and complicated man. The New York Times is publishing a piece tomorrow that captures some of his sincerity and hypocrisy:

Mr. Russert liked to seem sheepishly above-it-all, but was also as acutely status-conscious, befitting the local water. He was always mindful of not appearing too often on MSNBC, NBC's cable cousin, for fear of diluting his big-league brand. He was known primarily as a TV star to most people, but often identified himself by his more hierarchical title, "Washington bureau chief." There is no shortage of politicians, beginning with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, who believed Mr. Russert could be bullying and prone to grandstanding at times, making excessive show of his top-of-the-heap position.

Many Democrats believe that the Washington press corps is a broken institution, when I read the hillaryis44 posting linked from this diary I realized that it was documenting Russert's part in breaking the Washington press corps. You may argue that it was poor timing to post that on the day of the man's death, and I wouldn't disagree with you, but it is hardly "despicable".

As for some of the comments to the post they are as despicable as some of the comments to this diary. Using Tim Russert's death as a vehicle for attacks on Obama supporters or Clinton supporters is shameful, and if you sincerely find it offensive then I would suggest you start by chastising this diarist and those who recommended his diary.

I don't think it's hitting below the belt at all.  I have very serious doubts that many of the more bizarre posters over there are Democrats at all. Re: The Complete A#@holes at HillaryIs44 (none / 0)

It's only been a week since Hillary conceded and we have four months until the election.  Some of her supporters aren't ready to cross-over to Obama.

Why is it so important that they do so IMMEDIATELY?  Why can't they have some time to think about things before making a decision?  At the end of the day, it's not important that they take a blood oath to support Obama on June 14, 2008.  What's important is that they vote for him in November.   If being patient and giving them time and space makes the latter outcome more likely, what is the harm in waiting and treating them with respect?

People kept talking about it, so I went hunting. At first, I couldn't imagine what he could have said that was so bad. But yeah, it was absolutely terrible. I was shocked. I'm emailing him about it right now. But no matter what he did, he shouldn't leave because of it. We all make mistakes. That was a particularly bad one, but I expect he learned something from it. Feeling guilty and running away from the situation is not the proper way to deal with it.

The whole thing has put me in a very poor mood, though. He's one of my favorites.

Oh, and thanks for saving my abusive comment to rankles. I imagine someone else will probably come through and HR it again, but I really don't care at this point. Rankles has no right to tell anyone to leave, least of all SG.

I missed all of this yesterday, but if people were exposing alegre's real identity, that's definitely loathsome behavior. I'm an Obama supporter and have done my share of chiding alegre here, but I would never cross that line and it should be condemned.

Regarding HillIs44, yeah, it's best to ignore that site going forward.  I was disheartened to read several incredibly despicable comments about Russert on A-list liberal blogs today. I used to think we were better than wingnuts, but after what I read today I'm not so sure. My theory on HillaryIs44 (none / 0)

My theory is that HillaryIs44 is a plant along with a number of the diarists (and posters) that used to reside on MyDD.  Think about it.

The GOP always wanted HRC to run against.  They've been revving up for it for years.  She has high negatives, they have tens of millions of dollars worth of opposition research on her they can bring up again, she voted for the war, she appears to be a political opportunist and the smear machine already had plenty of warning to work on her.

I believe one of their strategies was to plant so-called "liberal Clinton supporters" online at popular websites, get them to integrate into the existing communities and act as a sort of "sleeper cell."

From there, they could do plenty to hurt the HRC campaign.  They could start making over the top radical statements that some of their loyal readers would follow along with and create a meme for the media that HRC supporters were radical liberals.  They could "change their mind" at some point in the campaign and switch to McCain, which would create the meme that HRC was losing key supporters and her campaign was in trouble.  Or they could create division within the chronically fractured Democratic Party.

Now it didn't work exactly as they wanted because HRC lost.  But they have managed to encourage the viewpoint that HRC was robbed of the nomination since she only lost the delegate and popular vote by a little.

how to lose in November? (2.00 / 1)

there are two rec'd diaries still about Hillary and her supporters? This will not help Obama, makes him seem boring, the only story is still Hillary?

If you want Barack to win, as i do, you will stop looking up what Hillary's supporters are doing and saying. He won, she lost, this can't possibly do anything but make you seem like sore winners, who still can't give up bashing the opponent. In this case it's a same party opponent and ought never to have been smeared in the first place, had that not happened, Obama's win would be nicer, and not sullied by his supporters ongoing fascination with all things Hillary.

Grow up, Barack won, time to realize it and blog positive.  End the hate the contest if over, let that hate die?

Uh, did you even bother to read the diary, or did you just respond to the title? This isn't about Hillary, this is what some disgusting people on a website (that claim to support her) said about Tim Russert's death. Are you defending what they said?

Furthermore, if there was an pro-Obama site like this, (no, Kos doesn't count) you'd be bringing it up as often as the rest of us do.
