Who needs to be thrown under the bus

I've suggested that Obama throw both Jimmy Carter and Kwame Kirkpatrick under the bus in the upcoming weeks; it'll be good theatre and probably help him out in Michigan and Florida.

Now here's a suggestion for both Obama and Clinton; when she returns next week, Hillary and Barack should do a web-based commercial together where they throw the entire liberal netroots and blogosphere under the bus. The venom getting thrown by both sides has been an absolute embarrassment. The community deserves to be hoisted upon its own petard.

That diary last night and its subsequent comments were pathetic. It was great in fostering divisions in this community and lending credence to the dead-enders that are spreading disunity.

I can't believe Governor Granholm hasn't removed Kilpatrick yet.

Seriously, it's like a crappy movie up in Detroit. That man is a disgrace.

If we lose Michigan, I'm placing all the blame on Howard Dean, Kirkpatrick, and Granholm (didn't her husband get in trouble with a prostitute?). The only reason Kerry won Michigan was that he ran up a huge margin in Wayne County. It appears that Obama will need the same margin or hope to swing the Arab-American vote overwhelmingly his way so he can get an record margin in Detroit.

As the city of Detroit is 80% African-American, I expect Obama will do very well in Wayne County. Realistically, there ought to be enough white liberals and a hopefully enthused African-American community to carry him to victory in Michigan.

And you're thinking of Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow, not Jennifer Granholm, who has the misbehaving hubby.

It used to be a lot easier to be a Democrat, don't you think?

That diary last night was a complete embarrassment. The diarist was obviously exercising poor judgment in even writing it and subsequent commenters were exercising even worst judgment in "outing" the blogger.

Who cares whether the former blogger lied about who she was when she posted here? It's unbelievable to me that at a time when Obama is experiencing a modest surge in all national and state polls that people would be worried about a thousand dead-enders. Obama and Clinton need a get a grip of the freaks that support them and show some leadership; I suggest a five-minute web based scolding.

responsible for those comments any more than you can hold Jerome responsible for hosting the site on which they appeared.

Frankly, I've been occasionally checking in on the blogs of the former MyDDeadenders to see if they've seen a return to reasonability. It certainly is one of the most interesting anomalies of this entire campaign, and could be a viable case study later on for any researcher interested in reviewing the strange nature of this year's primary season.

I'm apologizing again for the comments that my diary inspired last night and for offending anyone by calling out Alegre by name.

The point of the diary was NOT to discuss Alegre's personal life or real identity, which is none of our business and was not at all relevant to what I wrote.

My purpose in writing was to say that wishing for tragedy or scandal to befall the presumptive Democratic nominee isn't just anti-Obama, it's anti-Democrat. I stand by that sentiment, even though I chose to delete the diary in response to the comments that ensued.

I have no beef with Alegre personally, I just didn't like what she wrote. It's clear some people have larger issues with her than I do, and I should have thought about that before I decided to post my diary.

Dude, you showed some extremely poor judgment by posting that diary. The comments weren't your fault but you should have gotten a hint after the first forty posts that the diary should have been deleted. You shouldn't have had to ask about whether the diary should have been deleted. It shouldn't have taken Todd Beeton (who has been the most fair guy in the blogosphere during this primary season) or another diarist to convince you about why the diary should have been deleted. You screwed up pretty badly and created division on this blog. I'm glad that you are owning up to it though. Kudos to you.

The diary went from zero comments to nearly 200 pretty quickly, and it actually took me a while to figure out that there was a subset of comments (none of which were directed to me) where people were talking about revealing Alegre's personal info. Had I noticed that sooner, I would have been more quick to remove the diary.

I frankly have no idea what sphere of influence the people who post at other "dead-ender" sites have, I was simply commenting on what I saw as the conversion of a former A-list blogger from pro-Clinton to anti-Democrat. Someone who could play an active role in helping us win in November has thus far decided to go the opposite direction, and for that reason, I felt it was fair game to discuss it here.

I wasn't trying to create division, I was trying to comment on the dangers of sowing division as we head into the GE. Nonetheless, I should have anticipated the kind of response my words my generate and should have chosen a better way to get my point across.

Thanks for the feedback, and sorry again for the train wreck last night.
