That ended a long time ago for MyDD

Markos makes a post that deserves clarification:

Today Daily Kos is announcing the birth of a new ActBlue fundraising page -- the Orange to Blue List. This marks the retirement of the joint Blue Majority ActBlue page, previously maintained by Swing State Project, Open Left, MyDD, and Daily Kos.
Not so. I have no idea why Markos is pulling DailyKos out of the "Blue Majority" page, but MyDD dropped out of the "Blue Majority" ActBlue page in the Fall of 2007, nine months ago. The reason why MyDD dropped out of it was because of BlogPac's (which Blue Majority funded) decision to target Red State Democrats that hold seats where only a conservative Democrat can win.

Re: Blogger Tweed (1.10 / 10)

no surprise that Markos is full of it. he seems to think he is special because he turned his site into a resume for a job, other then that he has nothing to reccomend him.

Re: Blogger Tweed (2.00 / 6)

I read it first over at DailyKos, and I actually understood it correctly. Without knowing the details, I understood that Blue Majority was started by those named websites, but that it has since dissolved as those websites chose their own path. His post marked the end of DailyKos' involvement.

Frankly, Markos had no obligation to state MyDD's specific history with Blue Majority. There was no malice here nor attempt to deceive.

Jessie jackson won SC, so why even if it is "technically corret" was it considered a bad thing to say? Same with LBJ signing the Civil Rights Act yet there was a lot of noise and bluster when that "technically correct" statement was made?

I'm confused. You are drawing a comparison between Markos's comments about the ActBlue page and Bill Clinton's comments about Jesse Jackson winning SC.

Are you saying that both sets of comments were appropriate or that both were inappropriate?

None of which is untrue. YOU are the one being dishonest.  Put away your hate, dude.

The real point in x's post was that because a lot of people read there it MUST be a site for truth justice and Amuakin Way, and that just does not hold water as an argument.

Re: Blogger Tweed (2.00 / 2)

Well, I think what many of us feel is the hard feelings toward Kos are counterproductive.  This entry seemed to push that theme, yet again.

Further, a number of us are still waiting for some acknowledgement from a certain someone here that he was a bit "over the top" in his support of a certain somebody.  I think looking for an apology is a bit much to ask so I won't bother.  Letting Obama supporters out of the penalty box (lost Rec/Rate) was a nice first step.  Some kind of statement would be the next step in restoring credibility, IMO.

Re: Blogger Tweed (none / 0)

He did have an amnesty grant post. One that he started himself, back in April.

Here on MyDD, a thoughtful poster made an amnesty request diary, and the admins reponded by granting it.

However, Markos did it first and he didn't need diarists to prompt him to it.

Jerome.  Saying it just needed clarification is incomplete.  Many things are a little inaccurate, or could be read more than one way.  We pick and choose which one's we respond to.  Markos post, while possibly misleading, was essentially benign, no?  You chose to clarify because you are annoyed with Markos. Anything he says that touches on you or MyDD is going to get high scrutiny.

I don't know what has transpired between you two, so I am not in position to say whether your pique is legit or not.  But since the vast Right Wing Conspiracy loves to see the progressive community feuding, I for one, hope you guys bury the hatchet soon.

Regardless of any perceived animosity, I think we can all agree that this is amazing progress:

It's a sign of maturation that we can do this. Even just two years ago, splitting up would've seriously hampered or killed our fundraising efforts. Today, splitting up ultimately means more candidates will get support... while better allowing us to meet the needs of our own communities.

Re: That ended a long time ago for MyDD (2.00 / 0)

Now I see.  Markos' post gives the impression that it is the withdrawal of Daily Kos that "marks the retirement of the joint Blue Majority ActBlue page[.]"  Jerome is correct (if a bit arch) in pointing out that, in fact, MyDD pulled out last year, and that therefore the withdrawal of MyDD actually retired the "joint" page as previously maintained.

Jerome perceives that Markos' post slighted MyDD's prior withdrawal from Blue Majority, since in Markos' view, only the withdrawal of Daily Kos "marks the retirement" of the joint page.  This is, in my view, waaaaaaaaay too prickly, but Jerome has a point.  If only a small one.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and despite the tensions that have existed between DailyKos and MyDD during the primary season and the differences of opinion between Markos Moulitsas and Jerome Armstrong over their preferred candidates, the two men are, were, and remain close friends and generally in alliance in their vision for a progressive America.
