Direct Democracy..A Tail of Irony

Funny I can't help but think of how shocked we dems were when Al Gore won the popular vote in 2000, but lost the election due to delegate allotment.  These things happen every once in a while and demonstrate the utter sham of representative democracies.  These elaborate facades filled with the superrich and  designed to control the will of the people or direct democracies.

Now it's 2008. Once again a slight majority of the people supported one candidate, but the system so designed to recode the errors, changed the results.

Does the end (disenfranchisement  of voters in two states, character assassinations, misogyny, ignoring popular vote) justify the means?

What an interesting "tail" you weave there. Gosh, I'm certain you're not a troll at all.

I disagree with your basic premise.  Have a nice day.

Ignoring that you're wrong. (2.00 / 1)

Let's just say this is yesterday's news. Only one question remains. Are you an Obama supporter, and consequently on the same side as Hillary Clinton, or are you a Republican.

John McCain supports privatizing Social Security.

Argh. (2.00 / 7)

Primaries are not general elections.

Primaries aren't designed to display the will of the people, they're designed to show who the best campaigner is, and who the party wants to face the opposition in the fall.

Primaries are created by private, nongovernment groups called political parties, and they can give them whatever rules they want.

Primaries are not concerned with the popular vote unless they have rules which account for it.

The argument for changing the electoral college to a flat popular vote in the general election has much more merit with modern conditions.  Please do not suggest otherwise.  Concerns about the primary process by which Democrats choose their nominee should be directed to the DNC.

Yeah I know (2.00 / 2)

I write this stuff not for the diarist but for the unnamed multitudes that read these sites but don't participate.

Don't want anyone getting the wrong idea.

Hell yes!  In fact, I'd even vote for Hillary Clinton to promote those ends!

Just give it up.
