OH-02: Jean Schmidt up to her old tricks

Cross posted from dailykos

It's not even August yet and Jean Schmidt is already spewing out lies.  With less than six months to go until the election she's now claiming, in a fundraising letter, that Democratic candidate Dr. Victoria Wulsin engaged in "grotesque experiments" as a doctor with the Heimlich Institute, injecting unwilling patients in China and Africa with the "Malaria virus."  The truth is, Dr. Wulsin was fired from the Institute after she wrote literature opposing these experiments.  According to The Daily Bellwether there's another problem with Schmidt's attacks... there is no Malaria virus.
How can we prove Schmidt doesn't know what she is talking about? For starters, Schmidt's claim that victims in China and Africa were injected with the "malaria virus" is freighted with intent to deceive because a "malaria virus" does not exist. Malaria is caused by a parasite of the Plasmodium genus. And Baratz, who filed the medical board complaint, says Wulsin didn't inject anyone in China or Africa:

Even Dr. Wulsin's biggest critic Dr. Robert Baratz claims that the experiments mentioned weren't conducted by her.

"The experiments were conducted in Africa by Henry Heimlich, MD (popularizer of the 'Heimlich Maneuver' for treating choking.) These experiments were either conceived, coordinated, devised, supervised, funded, or managed by Heimlich and/or The Heimlich Institute in Cincinnati."

Is anyone honestly surprised by this?  Jean Schmidt, a Congresswoman who claims to hold integrity and values, yet smears her opponent with unfounded lies.  A congresswoman who's done nothing but embarrass the people of her district and continue the failed policies of the Bush Administration.

And just to kick the people of our district in the crotch one more time... Schmidt claims she needs money to wage "the type of honest campaign our district deserves."

You can tell when an incumbent worried about losing when he/she resorts to tactics like this.  Schmidt even admits in her fundraising letter that the race will be "tight" and she "desperately needs cash" for campaign ads.

Finally she states that "without question, the liberals are energized and united."  You're damn right we are!  After eight years of President Bush and Rovian tactics we're ready for a change.  We're ready for politicians who put people before politics.  We're ready for a candidate that isn't controlled by Washington lobbyists and corporations.  The people of my district are ready for Dr. Victoria Wulsin to clean up Washington and fix our health care crisis.

Feel free to donate to help stop the Schmidt Smear Machine.

Isn't that the MOC who had that stupid exchange with John Murtha?

When you start out making the "slippery slope" argument, where do you draw the line?

Because I always confuse her and Marge Schott - the former owner of the Cincinatti Reds who... I dunno, put in a good word for eugenics or something.

Yeah, Schmidt called Murtha a coward.

SNL's parody of her was hilarious.
