NYT Drinks Cult-Aide: Throws Hillary Under the Bus!

Cross Posted at: Pagan Power

Today's New York Times Editorial cut right to the chase. They wasted no time whatsoever in throwing Hillary Clinton right under the bus. After all she has done for the city of New York it would seem that the very least they could do is have a little grace and dignity. But they apparently don't understand what it means to have respect.

According to the New York Times Editorial Board Hillary continuing in this race can is contingent upon two ridiculous requirements.

First of all she is not allowed to use the phrase White voters. Because apparently this is offensive to black voters and we sure as hell can't have that.

Sen. Clinton and the Campaign

But we believe just as strongly that Mrs. Clinton will be making a terrible mistake -- for herself, her party and for the nation -- if she continues to press her candidacy through negative campaigning with disturbing racial undertones.

In other words, Hillary must use only black approved politically correct language when discussing her strengths and Obama's weaknesses. Since when is honesty and frankness something that we should sweep under the rug? Is censorship the new password for Democrats? After all the lies we have heard these past long 7+ years from the Bush gang, isn't it refreshing that we have a candidate for President that is willing to be up front with us for a change?

Obama can declare that there are "typical white people" and that is ok but Hillary makes mention that she has stronger support from whites and she is painted as being racially divisive? Give me a break!

This is what this current matter is all about. Hillary gave an interview with USA Today and this is what she said:

Clinton makes case for wide appeal

"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY.

As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

"There's a pattern emerging here," she said.

In other words Hillary stated the obvious. The same points that political pundits have been saying for months now. But since it was Hillary that said it suddenly there are disturbing racial undertones.

I wonder if any of the blacks and elites have any idea how offensive it is to have some black person call someone a typical white person? Do they even have a clue? Should we now start referring to Obama as a typical black person because whenever something isn't going his way he always pulls out the race card to blame things on the "Bradley Effect"?

All Hillary is doing is speaking the truth. According to the 2006 US Census Blacks in this country make up 12.8% of the population. Hispanics make up 14.8%. Asians make up 4.4%. And Whites make up 66% of the population. It doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to realize that you HAVE to have a strong coalition including whites, and especially working class whites to win the Presidency.

Clinton rejected any idea that her emphasis on white voters could be interpreted as racially divisive. "These are the people you have to win if you're a Democrat in sufficient numbers to actually win the election. Everybody knows that."

So Hillary is guilty of speaking the truth and nothing more. Apparently among the elite speaking the truth is a capital offense. That certainly explains their attraction to Obama.

The second thing that the New York Times declares Hillary must do is quit talking about Michigan and Florida.

We believe it would also be a terrible mistake if she launches a fight over the disqualified delegations from Florida and Michigan.

What the NYT is basically saying to Hillary is that she should shut up about Florida and Michigan because every time she brings up the fact that the voters have been disenfranchised it makes the Democratic party look bad.

In addition to abandoning the attack ads, Mrs. Clinton must drop her plans to fight to seat the delegations from Florida and Michigan, which defied the Democratic Party and moved up the dates of their primaries. A lot of people voted in Florida anyway, but Mrs. Clinton should not pursue this nuclear option. It would make the Democrats look unable to control their own, just when they want to make a case that they can lead the entire nation.

Excuse me? Standing up for the rights of the voters in Florida and Michigan by a nominee of the Democratic Party makes the Democratic Party look good. It demonstrates that we will not allow rules or lies or any other bullshit stop the citizens of any state from having their legitimate voices and votes registered. What Donna Brazile and Howard Dean did is inexcusable. And they are indeed the root cause of this fiasco.

Sweeping this under the rug isn't going to give the American public confidence that the Democratic party is worthy of the trust required for the Presidency. All it would prove is that the Democratic party is no different than the Republican party used to be. At least the Republicans had the good sense to settle their problems long before they spiraled way out of control.

What this is really about is protecting Obama. And hiding the fact that he cheated the rules, lied and then threw money at the DNC to cover it up. The New York Times believes that it is important to cover up the fact that Obama has been the one standing in the way of having the voters of Michigan and Florida franchised. He has consistently refused to allow revotes in either state while Hillary, the only true Democrat in the race, has insisted on American fairness and enfranchisement.

The New York Times has drank the Cult-Aide and hopped on the Hope Train. I hope they choke on it, have a spectacular crash and rot in hell.

Hillary Clinton rules! (2.00 / 2)

She's a wonderful person, a good Democrat, and a role model for all of us.  I'm sorry she won't win the nomination, but I'm very excited about President Obama!

Let's stop the bickering and move on the real fight.

Not really (2.00 / 2)

Obama didn't, cheat, lie, or throw money at the DNC to cover anything up.

He did throw money at the DNC because he is a good Democrat and just has all this money cluttering up his place.

Clinton's comments are also simply wrong.  Obama has trended upwards with white voters as the campaign has worn on.  Further, his base is much stronger than hers: he trends upwards and eats into her lead in every single contest.

In closing, the Times warned her when she brought up the ridiculous gas tax issue that she was on the wrong track.  She didn't listen to their advice and went even further off-message into racial slice-and-dice territory.

The game is over.  Clinton got second place.  I'd say she did pretty well, all told.  Let's move on.

The NYT has been trying to Micromanage (2.00 / 5)

ever since they "endorsed" her.

And within days of their endorsement, they were trying
to kill her off.

They have announced her demise at least 7 times.

The NYT has mentioned that they work with General
Electric puppets at NBC for their political coverage, which
is apparently why they seem to parrot Chris Matthews so much.

Re: Keep your hate (2.00 / 4)

this is a real opinion, the way Hilary is blamed for all of Baracks' wows is beyond wrong.  Recall how the NYT helped sell the war?  Hillary actually helps Obama, look how fast McCain called him out and rightly over his agism?  How's that going to be her fault? She never called him sexist once, she's run a fine campaign. This stuff is simply ugly.

Amazing how quickly you've gone from believing all of Hillary's anti-Obama spin to believing all of McCain's anti-Obama spin.  What a seemless transition.

Re: NYT Drinks Cult-Aide: (2.00 / 4)

yes, the NYT was way over the top.  They endorsed her based on qualifications and I guess they only way to take it back is to say the worst things. I'll have to cancel my subscription, I get get that kind of biased news anywhere.  The worst part is the racial undertones remark.  Unbelievable.  Well, buy buy Andy, you lost me and I'd subscribed way way long. Oh well, your stocks are tanking too!!!

I've always loved and promoted the NYT (2.00 / 4)

but the level of their political reporting is a brand
new low.  The pieces are at the vacuous level of Daily Kos.

Re: NYT Drinks Cult-Aide: Throws Hillary Under the (none / 0)

The way she phrased what she said in the USA Today article was very inartful to be generous. It made it sound like she was equating "hard working Americans" with "white Americans." I listened to it and it sounds even worse than it reads. I don't actually believe that she meant it that way but to say that this is not something to be called out is wrong. It has nothing to do with "black approved" language, which is a ridiculous phrase anyway. It has everything to do with making sure that people understand that as a party we stand for everybody and that everybody works hard to make the party, and the country, great.

Re: NYT Drinks Cult-Aide: Throws Hillary Under the (2.00 / 1)

She was actually quoting an AP article. It was their phraseology.

Everything Hillary says the Obama crew try to paint as having racial undertones. You folks have destroyed a once fine political party. And there is a price to pay for what you have done.

The new Dixiecrats (none / 0)

Outside of hyper partisans blinded by their emotional investment in their candidate it was blindingly obvious to the rest of the world both pro and anti Obama that Hillary's WV press conference was channeling the bad old days of the Dixiecrats.

You can make a good case for saying that the fairytale and MLK remarks were mis characterized. The Jesse Jackson remark was a lot more suspect. But the WV remarks were pure George Wallace and if they had come from a Republican would have caused a firestorm of indignation along the lines of the Macaca moment.

You can project Hillary's bad behavior on her opponent but no one is buying it (not even a good many of her voters) and the polls about Hillary's negatives and trustworthiness bear that out.

Re: NYT Drinks Cult-Aide: Throws Hillary Under the (none / 0)

No, she wasn't.  Nowhere in the AP article did it assign "hard-working" as an adjective.

Speaking of racial undertones, your most recent post at No Quarter is entitled, "I Call a Spade a Spade."

http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/05/07/ i-call-a-spade-a-spade/

And you repeatedly compare David Axelrod to Hitler in that post.

Oh no, there's a price to pay!   Will it be that we are deprived of your constructive criticism and reasonable thoughts on the issues of the day?  But who will call black people "spades" and compare Democratic strategists to Hitler?  We will be lost, lost I say!

Speaking of which, you forgot to say "you'll live to regret this."

At the end of an election there are some hard feelings for sure. But honestly this kind of diary is indicative of some emotional trauma. I think a blog break and some soothing music might cure what ails you.

People are no longer attacking Hillary they are just waiting for her to stop putting on the show. We should hope she ends this sooner so you can heal sooner. My condolences ( is that what ya suppose to say?)

Re: NYT Drinks Cult-Aide: (2.00 / 1)

If this weren't really happening, I would not believe it. It is now absolutely necessary for all Hillary Clinton supporters to boycott the election if BO is nominated. This scurrilous campaign to malign Senator Clinton has to stop. Gee, BO cries "typical white person" and the press yawns. Hillary talks election demographics, and she's suddenly a racist. I'm done. This is it for me. If we allow these people to continue to control the narrative, women (all people for that matter) are toast. This is bordering on being "crazy" as in really crazy. Hillary Clinton, her MANY MILLIONS of supporters, and frankly, the American people, deserve so much better than this!!!
