Obama North Carolina Speech Thread

Consider this a thread on Barack Obama's speech following his North Carolina primary victory from Raleigh.

Update [2008-5-6 21:37:47 by Todd Beeton]:Again, Obama is taking on the unpatriotic BS head on.

I love this country too much to see it divided and distracted at this critical moment in history. I believe in our ability to perfect this nation because it's the only reason I'm standing here today. I know the promise of America because I've lived it...it is the light of opportunity that led my father across an ocean, it's the founding ideals that the flag draped over my father's coffin stand for. It's life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In this country justice can be won against the greatest odds...and when we are told that we can not bring about the change that we seek, we answer in one voice: Yes we can!

Nice.

In your comment in which you told me to "be respectful," you also called me a "kid" (I'm 43), told me to "shut up," and misspelled my name.

Just out of curiosity, I checked your recent comments and found that within the space of your last 10 comments, you have also called someone a "liar" (or perhaps someone who doesn't understand English) and called Markos an "idiot" (standard fare around here, I know, but still).  All of those comments were posted today.  Is your long-term history as rich with respectful behavior?

Thanks, but I think I'll take my lessons in being respectful elsewhere.

Obviously, if you behave like a child even though you are 1000 years old, i will call you a kid. And your behavior earlier was childlike.

I stand by remark about Markos...he is an idiot and he belongs to another blog, not this one. You don't like it that i called Markos an idiot, well too bad. Go to the other blog.

I called that person a liar because he was lying about what Senator Obama said. His speech was respectful and he was distorting it. So he is either a liar or have English comprehension problems.

My sig line doesn't gloat, and it's not related to these primaries.  And I haven't gloated in any post you've responded to.  So I'm at a loss as to what you're talking about.

As for whether Obama started his speech got a dig in a Hillary, I agree with you that he did not.  But the poster was not "lying."  When I heard the speech I thought, I bet someone is going to take that as a dig.  And lo and behold, someone did.  Point being: things are open to interpretation.  I loved the speech, but people see things through their own lenses, and some are likely to take any reference to the opponent as a dig.

This is all getting too meta for me.
