Kentucky SUSA: HRC 62 / BHO 28

Total blowout in Kentucky.

New Survey USA, Obama does not even cross the 30 percent threshold.

HRC 62
BHO 28

From SUSA:

Two weeks to the Democratic Primary for President in Kentucky, Hillary Clinton remains decisively atop Barack Obama, according to this 4th tracking poll conducted by SurveyUSA for WHAS-TV in Louisville and WCPO-TV in Cincinnati. Today, it's Clinton 62%, Obama 28%, effectively unchanged from SurveyUSA polls released on 04/29/08 and 04/15/08. Clinton leads in every region of the state and in every demographic subpopulation of consequence.

How so ? (2.00 / 1)

Sen. Obama is the presumptive nominee.. at least according to a strong majority of his supporters.  This means that Sen. Clinton has no mathematical chance of winning the nomination.

Normally, when you have a winner, the voters tend to coalescen around him/her ~ in a honeymoon of sorts.

This poll (if it bears out) would be a stunning repudiation of the presumptive nominee.

Unprecedented, actually !!

Re: How so ? (none / 0)

She was always going to blow him out in KY.  It probably won't be by 35 points since he hasn't campaigned there but it will be a large double digit win just the same.  And really, its Kentucky, it has as much chance of going blue in the fall as D.C. has of getting representation in congress.

Re: How so ? (none / 0)

So let me get this straight: Kentucky doesn't matter because it will never go Blue, according to historical trends. But solid red states Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Utah, North Dakota and Kansas somehow do count because Obama won them and will somehow miraculously turn them?

Re: How so ? (none / 0)

Most of those yeah I don't care about, they aren't going to help us.  I would argue though that Clinton would have an outside shot at Kansas and I think Obama has a solid shot at North Dakota.  But I wasn't saying it didn't matter so much as it's totally not surprising.

She may get to 70 (none / 0)

with 8% undecideds, she may actually get to 70 percent in this closed primary.

So what? (none / 0)

Which candidate is going to have the most pledged delegates going into the convention?

Why should the superdelegates overturn the will of the voters as determined by the delegates they elected?

Thank G-d for closed primaries unlike all the other states where GOP and conservative leaning independents are voting Obama knowing that the GOP race was decided and that McCain would cream him in November.

Blacks and voters under 35 would be even better b/c they don't have the sense to vote for the right candidate, eh?

What a strawman. (none / 0)

S/He did not say anything like that.

As I read it, s/he was saying that Rs and independents tended to increase Obama's votes.  I don't know if that is right, but the statement said nothing about African Americans or voters under 35.

I get so tired of the drivel from both sides.

Hope you appreciate the difference (none / 0)

Between this thread and an Obamabot dominated thread.  In an Obamabot dominated thread, this comment and others would have either been gang troll rated or, at least this one, hidden.  We may all think your comment is dishonest (and insulting to some - not me, I have thick skin), but none of us do anything to censor it.

Your high-minded, respectful debating style is noted.

The original comment disparaged certain voters as not being legitimate, even if they were legal.

But at least I'm willing to let others read views I don't like.

Way to combine a personal attack with a straw man.

the same game over and over (none / 0)

The HRC campaign and her supporters want to focus on pieces of the competition where HRC wins.

This doesn't change the fact that Obama has the most delegates and, barring some freak happening, will have the most delegates.

HRC might win Kentucky big. So what? Will it change the fact Obama has the most delegates?

Re: You love your mantra don't you? (none / 0)

What you call my "mantra" is how the Dem Party determines its nominee.

But way to take discussion of issues and turn it into a personal attack. Congrats! Exactly what I've come to expect from HRC supporters.

Re: Kentucky SUSA: HRC 62 / BHO 28 (2.00 / 1)

The only person I've met from Kentucky this election season told me that Obama doesn't say the pledge of allegiance and believes in the Koran instead of the Bible.  That said, I will go out on a limb and predict he keeps the margin under 30.

Hillary will pick up a few delegates (none / 0)

Very impressive.

After Obama gains 5 or 10 delegates in OR, Hillary may gain 10 or 20 in KT and net 10 or 15 for the day.

Now tell me where she picks up the 100+ other delegates she needs when Obama by this point will have the majority of PDs and there will be less than  250 SDs who are uncommitted.

Actually Hillary makes KY close against McCain and Bill Clinton carried it twice. When is the last time Utah or Kansas voted Democratic for President?

by rossinatl on Tue May 06, 2008 at 06:30:05 PM EST

Great news for Hillary! (none / 0)

With this win, she'd get all 160 of Kentucky's delegates, right?
