No Pander Left Unturned

In a craven political pander today Senator Hillary Clinton pledged voting rights to Guam. As reported by Jack Tapper:

In an interview with KUAM-TV, Clinton, asked about giving Guam citizens the right to vote for president, said, "It seems to me that it is long past time that we remedy this inequity. It doesn't reflect American values; it is out of step with the move towards equality and full citizenship rights, and I will do everything I can to make sure the people of Guam's vote are counted."

The Senator is now promising to rewrite the constitution in an attempt to squeeze out an extra delegate from Guam.

Just like the gas tax, HRC leaves no pander unturned.

No doubt it is pander, but I can't see why the people who live under US rule in our territories should no be allowed the same rights as US citizens.

Troll rated for not backing up your claims (none / 0)

I've been unable to find a quote with BO pandering on this issue. And you've been unwilling to provide a link. Post a link and I'll be happy to remove the TR.

Re: No Pander Left Unturned (2.00 / 0)

Certainly every U.S citizen should have a say in our presidential elections. But that would require a constitutional ammendment. A process which takes decades and which doesn't require any sort of presidential power. She could have been working on this for the past 20 years if it meant anything to her... And in all likelihood it would be on the verge of happening now.

If she wasn't so busy pandering.

Re: No Pander Left Unturned (none / 0)

A Const Amend is not necessarily needed if we accord statehood to our major territories like Guam and Puerto Rico.

Re: No Pander Left Unturned (none / 0)

P.R. has had multiple referendums on statehood and they have all failed. Statehood requires congressional and local approval.

Re: No Pander Left Unturned (2.00 / 1)

We can't just bestow statehood on a territory. They have to vote for it as well. I know Puerto Rico repeatedly rejects statehood. Not sure about Guam, but I imagine it's similar. Territory status is actually pretty sweet, if you don't care who the national leaders are.

hey at least she is not bowling gutter balls, using Malcolm X phrases and posting slimy youtube videos. Look at yourself and your hero's campaign first and then talk about pander!

Re: No Pander Left Unturned (none / 0)

She pandered - Oh! My! G-d!
Yes, Hillary panders, alot.  Barack doesn't?  If an Obama supporter believes their candidate does not participate in pandering, then, well...  ...that explains much.

Let's not forget the mother of all panders: Obama pulling his name off the MI ballot to pander to Iowa and NH.  For a candidate who is supposed to be all about change he was happy with the status-quo regarding first in the nation 'rights' for Iowa and NH.  I thought the netroots was against that?  I thought teh netroots wanted to lesson te power Iowa and NH have in choosing D & R presidential candidates.  Perhaps allow other states like AZ or NJ or MT or TN or say, MICHAGAN and FLORIDA the chance to participate in the primary process.

Not Obama - the pander paid off, he won in Iowa and avoided a blow out in NH.  I don't fault Obama for that blantant pandering (just as I don't fault him for bowling - a type of pandering), but don't be silly and get bent out of shape that you can find examples of Hillary pandering.

Re: No Pander Left Unturned (2.00 / 1)

For me, it is more about the absence of non-pandering with Clinton. I can't think of any instances where she took the non-pander road when her rival(s) took the pander road.

Re: No Pander Left Unturned (none / 0)

How about MI - Edwards & Obama pandered.  Clinton, rightfully, did not and she has paid the price hard in this campaign for that courage.  She lost Iowa, didn't get a blowour in NH.  This changed the course of teh campaign for Clinton (negatively) and Obama (positively).  Obama's pandering paid off big, and Clinton got punished hard for not pandering.
