Is Hillary Clinton White? (snark title)

Where I use satire to diagram racism:

What must Obama do next?

Harold Ford Jr. -- not so long ago the rising black politician within Democratic ranks -- now heads an arm of the party that seeks to keep its focus on "middle" America and crafting centrist messages: the Democratic Leadership Council. Often vilified by liberal activists, the DLC sees itself as quintessentially practical.

From that perspective, and in the wake of Hillary Clinton's win in the Pennsylvania primary, Ford just set a political bar for the black politician that surpassed him in prominence.

"You have to win Indiana," Ford told Barack Obama (via an interview on MSNBC). And, Ford added, Obama has to "steamroll" Clinton in the other state with a primary two Tuesdays from now, North Carolina.

The Obama camp will not publicly embrace that equation. But for him to truly regain the momentum he captured during his February surge, most party pros will see Ford's formulation as spot-on.

-- Don Frederick  Pro Clinton - LA Times blogger

April 22, 2008 (Full text of post)

Hillary Clinton is mentioned twice in this blog post, but her color is never identified.  But luckily, Harold Ford's and Barack Obama's color were identified for the reader.

You see, the writer implies Harold Ford is connected to Obama.

But just how are they connected?

Are they from the same state?  No.

Are did they attend the same school?  No.

Do they both belong to the DLC?  No.

Is it because they're both men? No. He doesn't mention their gender, he doesn't even identify Hillary's gender.

Are they related by blood or marriage? No.

Hmmm.  What is it.  What connects them?  What can if be?

Oh, I know, they're black!  Got it.

Thankfully the blogger informs us that Harold and Barack are BOTH black.

Phew!!

I'm glad, I read this article, I had no idea!

OMG!  Barack Obama and Harold Ford are black!!  Did you know that?  I didn't. I sure am glad he cleared that up.  I thought they were Cuban.

But I'm confused, he doesn't tell us what's Hillary's color?

Now would he leave that out?

Hmmmmm, I wonder why?

Is Hillary Clinton white or black?  I don't know. Is  The LA Times' creep didn't tell us.  I'm gonna have to do some research!!

HAHAHHHAHAHAHHAHA!

What a piece of shit post.

SHAME ON YOU, LA TIMES!!!

SHAME ON YOU!!

Any wonder why charges of the race card are invoked?

Instead of touting an empty and odious piece of shit argument, Clinton supporters should be rejecting and denouncing this LA Times blogger and his kind of racism.

I clearly asked Clinton READERS at this blog to reject and denounce this.

Hillary, herself, has nothing to do with this.  Obviously, Hillary doesn't have the time to read blogs.

Black people don't have to be reminded that they're black.  They're already reminded everyday that they're black.

Darlin, let me put it this way (none / 0)

I don't know what Harold said, I didn't read the transcript.

But for the sake of argument, let's say the LATimes blogger has perfectly characterized Harold's comments.

Why does he bring up Harold?  Because he's head of the DLC?  No.  Because Harold is some super analysis?  No.  Again, who does he connect Harold, by, and only by, skin color.

He goes out of his way to say Harold is black and Barack is black.

Now don't you agree that they're skin color is as irrelevant as their gender?  Why didn't he say, "well, Barack should listen to Harold, cuz they be dudes."

If the LAT blogger had said, we should listen to what Harold has to say, because, and only because,  Harold is a MAN," wouldn't you say that's sexist?  I would.

Racism (2.00 / 1)

Racism is animosity towards members of a race based on their racial status.

Race-consciousness is not racism.

Again...

Race-consciousness is not racism.

So why wasn't he conscious of Hillary's race?? (2.00 / 1)

got an answer for that?

the writer was conscious of Harold's and Barack's color, but he strangely wasn't conscious of Hllary's color.

You can spin this away.

There are only two choices:

1. reject and denounce

2. support the indefensible.

Because Hillary touting this (none / 0)

Hillary's supporters are touting the LA Times post in support of Hillary.

A post that is solely based on connection.  But what connection, their skin color.  That's why he goes out of his way to state the obvious, that both Harold and Barack are black.  The entire argument is meanliness unless he can conncet them, and he uses race, and nothing else, as the connection.

Once again, without a valid connection, the argument is meaningless.  the connection is race.  that is not only an invalid connection, it's repugnant.

Hillary's supporters have been touting this post in support of her candidacy, even though it's an odious and empty piece of shit.

Al, you have to stop taking issue with people using the word "black" and people contemplating the prospect of America's first black president.

Your diary here is a textbook case of faux outrage.  You insult the scholarship of critical race theorists and the work they have done for substantive equality when you compare factual  descriptions of Harold Ford and Obama's candidacy with the real injustices that have happened in this country because of racism.

Racism is a serious problem and you make a  mockery of it by flying off the handle over innocuous trivialities.

What that shows is how pervasive racism is in this country. Most people will read that and never question why people who are black must be identified in an article as black, while it's not mentioned for whites. I see from comments here that they don't see it even when pointed out.

You know, if you cared so much about this subject, you might put a piece together noting how many times gender stereotypes are played against Hillary - how often her clothing is commented on, how much more emphasis is placed on using emotion-based adjectives, how often she is characterized in ways that are fundamentally demeaning to women.

But I don't think you care that much.  Just enough to defend your (hurting) candidate is all. :)

There is a big difference between racism and racialism.  Tone down the drama, will you?
