Today is Memorial Day, obviously, (at least it still is on the West Coast!) and much to my surprise, there were a couple of tributes to John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, when I woke up this morning.
Now, I can more than appreciate Senator McCain's service to our country, but I had to wonder why prominent Democratic servicemen weren't being honored as well. I asked TexasDarlin this on her thread.
This was her response.
Of course there are. Did I say there weren't? Why don't you write a diary about them.The point of this diary, which I chose to put the time into to create, was to pay tribute to the "enemy" in the spirit of the holiday.
I thought that might have been clear from the title and the text.

Thank you, Senator Kerry, for your service during the Vietnam war, and for the courage to stand up for what you believed in once you left.
Thank you, Senator Webb, for your service in the Vietnam war also, as well as your son's dedication to our country.
I know that the both of you will continue your fine dedication to our country in the Senate (or maybe even the Vice Presidency!) during what hopes to be a prosperous 8 years of Democratic leadership in the White House.
