And On A Lighter Note...

And now for something completely different, a little Friday evening schaedenfreude that I think we can all enjoy:

A Tuesday fundraiser headlined by President Bush for U.S. Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign is being moved out of the Phoenix Convention Center.

Sources familiar with the situation said the Bush-McCain event was not selling enough tickets to fill the Convention Center space...

Heh. Sweet. But this might be my favorite part:

...and that there were concerns about more anti-war protesters showing up outside the venue than attending the fundraiser inside.

Awesome. Actually, wait, maybe this is my favorite part:

Another source said there were concerns about the media covering the event.

Ya, wouldn't want that.

And in case you were wondering, and oh so concerned, the fundraiser will still go on, it will just be moved to various private residences in the Phoenix area.

Phew!

God, thank you Todd.  Either shut down the site and let every take a little 5 minutes of deep breathing to calm down or make us laugh...or both.

How many gated compounds are there in Phoenix? dumbaya has to hide behind something after all...

My favorite is in the Scottsdale foothills (none / 0)

where there is a gated community for the super-rich inside of a gated community.  That's probably where they will host the shrub.

Tee Hee (2.00 / 1)

Got to love this bit of news.  It is a nice light and a good note to end the week on.

And we are worried we might lose with either Obama or Clinton?  Please.  The republicans are going down hard in November.

Thanks (none / 0)

A much better note on which to end the week.

I don't think McSame has a chance. Barack is already pulling ahead of Gramps. Once everybody sees that this McCain is not the independent straight talking 2000 McCain we will be golden.

It's going to be a cakewalk.

Yawn.

I hope they keep thinking that way... lull them into a false sense of security.

Re: And On A Lighter Note... (2.00 / 2)

I heard about this on KPHX radio (Phoenix Nova-M) today. Jeff Farias was on top of it. This is a real embarrassment in McSame's own hometown! Maybe they were afraid of Bush catching a glimpse of KPHX's billboards that are all over town right now:

Re: And On A Lighter Note... (2.00 / 1)

Props to Jeff Farias! He's a great local host and was key in bringing Air America and eventually Nova M Radio to Phoenix; the only liberal radio in town.

You can catch the show on iTunes radio in the talk section

(I am not affiliated with the show but a friend of the station and personal friend)

We will still be out there wherever the Bush Twins (George and John)show up!

Some questions: (none / 0)

1.  Can you imagine McCain holding a fundraiser with Bush in, say, Los Angeles?  New York?  I think he could really draw a crowd.

2.  What does Bush typically do on a Friday night?  Solitare?  Play with the dog? Porn? Stairmaster?  He must be going out of his mind with boredom.  Ok.  Poor use of words. He must be bored.

3.  McCain needed Hagee to get through the primary season.  Then he threw him under the bus.  Can you guess the date that it will happen with Bush?

HTML entities (none / 0)

allow you to write things like <blockquote> directly.  It makes it easier to explain HTML in a context when the explanation itself will get interpreted as markup.

List of XML and HTML character entity references

Essentially, you just write an ampersand, then the code for the symbol you want to insert, then a semicolon.

For example, to output

<blockquote>

you'd write

&lt;blockquote&gt;

and the &lt; and &gt; get turned into brackets.

And On A Lighter Note... (none / 0)

I think this fundraiser with Bush is a horrible idea for McCain and I'm not quite sure what his political advisors are thinking.  They can't have it both ways.  You can't be different from the current administration and distance yourself from them and then at the same time have them playing offense for you(Israel) and trying to help you make money.

This administration is not sinking. This administration is soaring! If anything, they are rearranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg!

That is hilarious.

In somewhat related news, I was at Sunrise, FL today for Obama's rally, 20,000 seat arena filled near to capacity, it was electric in there.

Rough week for McCain.  His double distancing was fun to watch.  It made him seem very weak and misinformed.

Re: And On A Lighter Note... (none / 0)

I am afraid I cannot partake of the lighter note:  The concerns raised by this story are legitimate and need to be addressed.

Obama's weaknesses demographically and in the crucial, BIG Electoral-Vote states mean trouble in November, no matter what McCain does or does not do.

Remember, after all is said and done, Bush still enjoys a 30% approval, and this will be McCain's to inherit.

Bush fought Kerry to a standstill in 2004; I still remember the joy of early-afternoon exit polling in Ohio, and the bitter disappointment after it dawned on us Rove had found a way, through the crooked GOP in Ohio, to both suppress and realign Ohio's votes to give Bush the slim margin in Ohio that carried him over the top.

Most analyses I've read say the same thing:  It's one thing to have charisma and carry caucuses, it's quite another to look at winner-take-all swing state politics.  Obama puts it in McCain's reach.

This is the main reason I've supported, and will continue to support Senator Clinton for President.
