Hillary, today in Rapid City, South Dakota, defended Obama from President Bush's apparent comparison of him to Neville Chamberlain, Ken Vogel reports.

She told reporters:

President Bush's comparison of any Democrat to Nazi appeasers is both offensive and outrageous on the face of it, especially in light of his failures in foreign policy. This is the kind of statement that has no place in any presidential address and certainly to use an important moment like the 60th anniversary celebration of Israel to make a political point seems terribly misplaced. Unfortunately, this is what we've come to expect from President Bush.

As to your diary, I'm a hopeless believer.   Hillary will say something later because I believe Hillary, as a leader in the party, knows that dip-shit's comments are a direct attack on the Democratic party.  She's out fundraising right now trying to fix a little debt problem she has.  So, expect her to comment on it sometime tonight...I really hope so at least..

First off, Bush just made the statement today because I was watching him on CSPAN this morning (by the way, what is wrong with Laura's face?  It looked strange.  And Condi looked bored).

So Hillary made a statement about the same time as Biden and Obama and Dean anyone else who wanted to say something.

Second, excuse me, but Barry's a big boy, he can defend himself (or get Axelrod to do it for him) and doesn't need Hillary to come to his defense.

Obama shills need to calm down before you turn off the other half of the Democratic Party.

If the primary is over, can we get an ETA on the shelf life for the derangement?  Because really, this is way over the top.  Al, your Unity Pony is going to have "YOU'RE NOT HELPING" branded on the side.

The irony is that Hillary's statement, while pretty unremarkable, is still tougher on Bush than what Obama himself said.

Taking 8 hours to respond to a nuclear missile attack on the US would be shameful.  Taking 8 hours to respond to a political smear with a comment that it was unacceptable (and arguably a better response than Obama's own response) is perfectly acceptable.

I'm an obama supporter and I have to say that this diary is BS.  I think she answered forcefully and appropriately.  No matter who the nominee is, we cannot let this Bush-garbage continue to be accepted by America as "truth."

Whatever you think of Hillary, I think it's fair to say she has a lot on her plate right now.  Her delay in responding to this is not important - that she issued a forceful denunciation IS important.  

I'm no Hillary supporter, but this week she has mostly done her part to promote unity - issuing forceful rebuttals of this and the Hamas smear.  Let's positively reinforce that effort...

Al, Hillary's so-called 8 hours to respond to Bush's remark is a lot better than Obama's position of Chairman of the Subcommittee on European affairs never holding meetings  or any oversight hearings on the role of NATO in Afghanistan because he was "too busy running for Dem nom. for President".  Puhleeze!  Do you really want to go there and open up all the political "faux pas" of Obamas.  "Great Lakes in Oregon,". . . all "57 states and two more to go,". . . etc., etc., etc.  

I really don't like it comming from Obama and his supporters any more than Hillary or McCain.

Demanding the other side apologize is so tiresome.

Bush looked like an asshole when he said it, and he put himself on a tee for Obama to smash.   Making it about apologies, and rejects just makes the people demanding them look stupid.

Bush making an incredibly stupid comment only helps Obama.

As long as Hillary doesn't have  a negative and reinforcing response I am happy.  Even if that means she is silent.

Like the GOP attacking Michelle, don't cut short their rope by demanding apologies and responses, when they are about to hang themselves.

Al, this is ridiculous. I mean, really, you're grasping for straws here, and I think I've been pretty fair about this whole Obama winning thing, but Hillary's remarks were out in plenty of time and plenty forceful enough to get the message through.

This just sounds like more Hillary-hate...and I "know it when I see it". It's time to move past this. So please stop. It pushes people away, and we both know that Hillary denounced this.
