SUSA Kentucky: HRC 62 / BHO 30

Landslide on the way for HRC in Kentucky.

Survey USA concludes, significant delegate and popular vote pick up for Clinton in Kentucky.

HRC 62
BHO 30

Clinton has a shot to reach 65 percent, and a small shot to cross the 70 percent threshold.

Clinton Poised for Ceremonial Trouncing of Obama in Kentucky: In a Democratic Primary in Kentucky today, 05/12/08, 8 days until votes are counted, Hillary Clinton decisively defeats Barack Obama, and is well-positioned to pick up delegates and popular votes, according to SurveyUSA's 5th pre-primary tracking poll, conducted for WHAS-TV Louisville and WCPO-TV Cincinnati. Clinton leads 62% to 30% today, effectively unchanged from SurveyUSA polls released 4 weeks, 2 weeks and 1 week ago. Clinton gets 84% of the vote in Eastern Kentucky, 62% in Western KY, 61% in North Central KY and 52% in greater Louisville. It is unclear to what extent Democrats in Kentucky will conclude, before Primary Day, that the Kentucky contest has significance. Some may conclude that the nomination fight is over, and that the contest has no meaning. Others may see it as having great symbolic importance, and the opportunity to make a statement

I am still keeping my prediction he will top 35%.  My dream would be that he hit 40, but I doubt he will.

Question (none / 0)

Anyone know if these numbers have remained consistent throughout polling in Kentucky?  How early in the primary did polling start there?

Clinton is going to destroy him there; just curious is that win has expanded/contracted in the last couple months.

Clinton's support has remained the same. Obama's is INCHING up, but only a percentage point at a time.

Re: SUSA Kentucky: HRC 62 / BHO 30 (2.00 / 1)

If SUSA is right, after undecided and "others" will vote, it will be 67-32 and including similar result in WV means that any Super who is endorsing Obama is committing the crime against Democratic Party and pushing for candidate who will lose in November.
Thankfully, none of supers can vote until August, so they have plenty of time to correct own mistake and stupidity.
Please note, that SUSA recently was wrong about Indiana and NC.

Re: SUSA Kentucky: HRC 62 / BHO 30 (none / 0)

well, by that logic, Obama is gonna WIN...Huckabee won West Virginia by a landslide after McCain was already dominating, after all.

I believe you're thinking of Kansas, WV voted on Super Tuesday for the Republicans.

heh (none / 0)

How do you jump from big wins in Kentucky and West Virginia to supers committing crimes against the Democratic Party?

Re: heh (none / 0)

S/he hates Obama.  Once you get that, it doesn't take much else to create whatever narrative suits the purpose of smearing the likely nominee.

No way. No how. No McCain.

Re: heh (none / 0)

Perhaps that's your belief.  I happen to think that overruling the will of the voters via the Superdelegates is far more risky, in terms of our nominee having democratic legitimacy.

But, that said, I base the above comment on many, many comments by that user.

Re: SUSA Kentucky: HRC 62 / BHO 30 (none / 0)

I doubt it because he will win in OR, MT, and SD.  These states pretty much neutral the wins in WV, KY, and PR

Re: SUSA Kentucky: HRC 62 / BHO 30 (none / 0)

She has the chance to net 20 delegates here.  For comparison, she's only netted that many in two other states (New York and California).

Margin of victory matters.  Her 9% wins in Pennsylvania and Ohio only netted her 13 and 7 delegates respectively.

by Skaje on Mon May 12, 2008 at 05:39:31 PM EST

Correction (none / 0)

12 and 7 delegates respectively.

Re: SUSA Kentucky: HRC 62 / BHO 30 (none / 0)

A this point, it doesn't matter how much she nets.  He'll win some delegates there and today is behind by only 33 in pledged delegates.  So the number will be under 30 on Wednesday and he will take the lead in pledged delegates after OR and KY.

This is VERY BAD news for O in the fall. Just ... (none / 0)

about everybody knows by now that Hillary is done and to vote for her under these circumstances shows a bitter resentment towards Obama.

and some voters may actually (2.00 / 1)

be smart enough to know the primary is not over despite Obama's campaign claiming "mission accomplished" and will go to the polls expecting the super delegates to not be freaking dumbasses, more interested in Obama's phone list them winning the WH in November.

I suggest you put "freaking dumbasses" in your next email to the superdelegates.

popular vote (2.00 / 0)

this is the real significance of KY, WV, PR.  Then, when the supers make a decision--say its to go for Obama, they will have given the nomination to the person without the popular vote lead--for the first time in history.
