Your Hillary $$ Matched..[Update:Deadline Extended!]

UPDATE: HillaryClinton.com announced tonight that the deadline for this matching fundraiser has been extended. It's not clear yet what the new deadline is. Keep on giving!

A group of Hillary supporters is matching every dollar donated to Hillary up until midnight tonight!

From HillaryClinton.com:

Dear Friend,

Time is running out! There are just a few short hours left before our big fundraising deadline, and every last dollar we bring in before midnight is going to help us show just how strong this campaign is. With big races in Indiana and North Carolina coming up in just a few days, you're making the difference. We're seeing an incredible response to our matching program, and we need you to keep the momentum going!

And don't forget, if you contribute before the midnight deadline, your gift will match a new donor's contribution. That means every dollar you give is worth twice as much. You've been there for Hillary before, and now is the best time to be there for her again!

Contribute before the midnight deadline, and your gift is worth double!

Your contributions help Hillary compete with great ads like this one, my personal favorite, featuring Maya Angelou:

Hillary won the Pennsylvania primary despite being outspent 3 to 1 by her opponent.  She needs every dollar possible to continue her winning streak.  It's the homestretch, folks, let's help Hillary close the deal.

Double Your Dollar's Impact.  DONATE HERE, DONATE NOW:

Re: Double Your Hillary Donation (none / 0)

Gave Another $50. Well worth the investment. We need a fighter; Hillary Clinton is our fighter. And, she can beat John McCain.

Obama's Unfavorability Rating Up 11 Points in Fox News Poll:

Nearly half of Democrats (48 percent) think Hillary Clinton has a better chance of beating John McCain in November -- 10 percentage points higher than the 38 percent who think Barack Obama can win, according to a FOX News poll released Wednesday. This represents a significant shift from March, when Democrats said Obama was the candidate more likely to beat McCain.

Democrats continue to favor Clinton as their party's leader, albeit narrowly: 44 percent want her to win the nomination and 41 percent want Obama. Last month Clinton was preferred by 2 percentage points.

Further, for the second month in a row Clinton does slightly better than Obama in head-to-head matchups against the Republican senator. Clinton tops McCain by just 1 point (45 percent to 44 percent), down from a 3-point advantage last month. McCain edges Obama by a narrow 3-point margin (46 percent to 43 percent), up from a 1-point lead.

The leader in these matchups has shifted back and forth. In the last year, the biggest spread between Clinton and McCain was September 2007 when Clinton led him by 7 points. Obama held a 10-point lead over McCain last July.

Nearly a third of Clinton supporters -- 32 percent -- say they would vote for McCain instead of Obama (47 percent) if the general election were held today. Fewer Obama supporters -- 21 percent -- would defect and vote for McCain over Clinton if she were the nominee.

Re: Double Your Hillary Donation (none / 0)

I can't decide which is my favorite part:

Iced grande non-fat latte, that's my preferred drink at the local SB drive-thru. They know me there....stressed out red-head in the silver BMW wagon approaching quickly, blackberry headset stuck in right ear, can't stop yackin, laptop and files falling off passenger seat, Starbucks gift card self-purchased, never any cash, sorry no tip!, always in a hurry...Hillary Clinton button, Hillary Clinton signs stashed in back seat.

OR

Tax time, appointment with CPA rescheduled twice, procrastination. Always strictly business; she's a lawyer too, $350 an hour; serious no-nonsense 35-ish former IRS auditor, conservative navy suits. Usually I'm in and out, notes jotted down, click click she's on the PC checking tax codes, checking the database, and suddenly says "so who do you think will be the next president?"

What's stand-up about being on the board of directors for Wal-Mart, one of the most anti-union corporations of the 20th century?

What's stand-up about destroying the reputations of women who spoke up about her husband's infidelities?

What's stand-up about outright lies about her previous support for NAFTA, which has immeasurably hurt poor Americans?

These are not rhetorical questions.  Sure you could trash Obama in response, but I'd like an honest answer.

Re: Hillary $$..Midnight Deadline! (2.00 / 5)

Cause I don't feel like it?  My goodness you're an important one, aren't you?

But, on a lighter (if possible) note I just saw Hillary on O'Reilly and she is one brainy quick witted charmer.  She's a laugh a minute too, quite the one to think on her feet. And she gave Bambi a pass on his Wright problem, although Bill O'Reilly thinks Bambi is toast now, that twenty years with that fool is too long to shrug off.  Me, I'm not sure, but still I'm not asking you to explain it. And why? Cause you don't need to explain a thing to me, and if you wanted to, I wouldn't' be interested. Why? cause this isn't the Wright diary.  (hehehe)

will you go away now, or do you want to hear more about how Great Hillary Is?

Re: Hillary $$..Midnight Deadline! (none / 0)

It was a good interview, got to say I was impressed by her responses (and disappointed that O'Reilly split the interview into two parts to spread his ratings spike into tomorrow).

Sure, I'll go away now.  I forgot that if you want a discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of a team, the last people you talk to are the cheerleaders.

Re: Hillary $$..Midnight Deadline! (2.00 / 1)

no, if you want a discussion you go onto a discussion diary and you offer to discuss, and if your offer isn't accepted you go away.  If you go onto a fundraising cheerleading diary and challenge some nice girl who's not looking for a fight with a bunch of stuff that's totally old and boring and that's been argued to death, you can't expect anyone to take you up. This can't be the first time you've been rejected, can it?

Re: Hillary $$..Midnight Deadline! (2.00 / 1)

All the Clinton diaries are cheerleading diaries, which always seemed to me to be rather silly. They don't persuade anyone and actually turn people off who are undecided.

BTW, is it getting harder to cheerlead as the superdelegates keep moving toward Obama?

Re: Your Hillary $$ Matched...Midnight Deadline! (2.00 / 3)

I have to tell you.

I have never donated to a political campaign before in my life.  I never even contemplated giving money to a primary campaign, before.

As of tonight I have donated $132.

It's not a lot.  But it's what I could give.  And after hearing Dr. Angelou speak, my money couldn't have been better spent.

Hillary shows us what determination really looks like, and sets an example for anyone who as ever felt slighted, stepped on, or cast aside in life.  We should never be so caught up in the heat of politics, the hype of speeches, or the rambling of talking heads, that we turn our backs on vital missions, like universal healthcare.

I want you folks to think about all the depressing crap you have had to read today, and then listen to Dr. Angelou, and let it all go.  The pundits tried to shut us out, but we said, no.  Hillary challenged us to help rebuild this nation, and we said, yes.  Yes we will.

Folks, we are this campaign right now.  Because some things are worth fighting for.

Join me in supporting Hillary, will you?
