ROBOTcall: Ardent Obama supporter on the board

An ardent supporter of Obama is also on the board of Women's Voices Women Vote according to Politico .

"There are some arguing that this was a pro-Clinton conspiracy, rather than a disruptive mistake, as the group claims; those suggestions are based in part on the fact that Maggie Williams used to be on the group's board, and that it's staffed with other former Clinton types.

This seems, so far, unconvincing to me. Also on the board, for instance, is William McNary, the president of the progressive coalition USAction and a leader of Illinois Citizen Action who has been, reportedly, a vigorous Obama supporters since his 2004 Senate race. "

Do we now blame the Obama campaign for voter suppression and other dirty campaign tactics?

Truth shall set you free!

Re: ROBOTcall: Ardent Obama supporter on the board (2.00 / 10)

wow - this reminds me of the passport-gate thing, where everyone was so quick to jump all over Hillary Clinton, and it turned out that Obama's camp had a finger in the pie there as well.

Re: ROBOTcall: Ardent Obama supporter on the board (2.00 / 2)

it says reportedly he is a barack obama supporter, and according to opensecrets.com he didn't donate any money to his campaign. Is there any evidence he is a supporter. This isn't snark, im just wondering

Re: ROBOTcall: Ardent Obama supporter on the board (2.00 / 1)

Maybe they dropped it from the rec list because it was complete bullshit.
The group in question is made up of both Clinton and Obama supporters,
but Bob, in his usual hyperventilating fashion, simply makes baseless accusations
before even bothering to look them up.  In fact, I had this exchange with him about
it at the Big Orange Blog:

   I posted it over there. (19+ / 0-)

Clinton backers behind deceptive robo-calls aimed at blacks

   by Bob Johnson

It would be even more exciting (0+ / 0-)
if it were true.  Alas (for you), it is not.
The group is made up of both Clinton AND Obama backers.
Don't worry, though, I'll go ahead and make the correction for you at MyDD.

   by dhonig on

   We shall see. (0+ / 0-)

I note that they are already "apologizing," but that doesn't explain why they
would be using a distinctly African-American male voice in their calls and targeting
    African-Americans voters.

I think there is more information to be discovered on this story.
And I suspect some enterprising reporters will be doing further digging.

   by Bob Johnson

I suspect the same. The difference, of course, (0+ / 0-)

is that I wait to see what they find, while you do not.

Re: ROBOTcall: Ardent Obama supporter on the board (2.00 / 3)

Come on now everyone knows that Obama and his supporters can do no wrong, and every problem in this nation, and the rest of the world, for that matter, is the Clinton's fault.

You expected fairness and truth from Bob? (2.00 / 5)

Well, this is just more of the same.   I'm not at all surprised that the organization in question has supporters of both candidates within it's leadership.  It is, after all, an organization that is dedicated to decidedly Democratic goals and ideals.  No Phyllis Schaffley types here.

As for Bob, not since his infamous "I slept with Hillary " diary on dKos has he been the 'harbinger' of truth, goodness and the American way.

Hell's bells, even the GOP didn't have to crucify Eisenhower's record in order to make Reagan their 'saint'. We can have two great ones, you know?

Re: ROBOTcall: Ardent Obama supporter on the board (none / 0)

Don't get you point.

I serve on the board of a foundation that went through a period of doing things that I thought despicable.

I was outvoted.

I don't endorse those actions.

So how does the presence of a minority Obama vote keep the organization's actions clean?

by wrb on Wed Apr 30, 2008 at 11:32:11 PM EST

Re: ROBOTcall: Ardent Obama supporter on the board (none / 0)

Do you know Obama supporters are a minority on that board?

How do you know that the organization did something malicious?

If Obama supporters on the board cannot be held responsible for the organization'screw-ups (and I agree) Hillary supporters cannot also be held responsible. Do you agree?

I hope you understand that guilt by association works both ways.

Re: ROBOTcall: Ardent Obama supporter on the board (none / 0)

Nope

On the board to which I was referring, the bad guys staged a coup & democratically instituted actions of which I disapproved, l. Rather than resign I outlasted and outmaneuvered them & returned the foundation to the light side.  I certainly do not take responsibility for those actions I fought.
