Contribute for HealthCare: Have Your Contribution to Hillary Matched!!!

Hey all,

Until midnight tonight, every dollar you contribute to Hillary's campaign will be MATCHED!  As we all know, the critically important contests in the great states of Indiana and South Carolina are fast approaching (May 6).  Hillary needs us all to do whatever we can to help her win in these crucial states.

The issue of biggest concern to me in this election is healthcare.  I, like many people out there, have a pre-existing medical condition.  I pay 25% of my after tax income so I can have health insurance.  Luckily, I make enough that I can just afford my rent and living expenses after that.  There are many people who cannot afford it--and they DIE because they do not have enough money.  This shouldn't happen in the United States of America.  It is a moral imperative that we right this grievous wrong and provide healthcare for every person in this country.  No one should die in the richest country in the history of the world for lack of basic medical care.  To my mind, the fact that they do, every day, is our greatest failing.  Hillary has the ONLY plan that will cover ALL Americans.  Senator Obama's plan, by various estimates/analyses, leaves 15,000,000 of our fellow Americans without healthcare.  We CAN do better than this.  We SHOULD do better than this.  We MUST.  By helping Hillary win in Indiana and South Carolina we get closer to this goal.

So please give what you can.  Make phone calls.  Travel if you are able.  We're all in this together.  Let's get it right this time.

Love and Peace to all.  (Please Rec this diary (I hate to ask but this is too important)).  Thanks!!!!!

Re: Tip Jar-- (2.00 / 1)

We don't discriminate based on race or gender, because we know it's wrong.  But we discriminate based on sickness.  In a country as great as ours, healthcare must be seen as a human right.

We've had enough talk about this.  Time to make it happen.

Amen (2.00 / 1)

I'm hoping against hope that we get it right this time around.  Thanks for taking the time to read.

In the profit-risk model, its not discrimination (2.00 / 1)

Obama is taking advantage of a disconnect between how laypeople see insurance. When he says 'they can't discriminate' it doesn't mean 'they can't charge sick people or people who they think might get sick more'.

But many people think he does mean just that. They are wrong.

We should only price healthcare by age, or make it universal for all.

The current model is based on the gambling principle, where they get to calculate your 'odds' based on the information you tell them, and what they can find out about you.

SO, if the insurance company claims you intentionally or unintentionally (THIS IS THEIR CALL, AND ITS OFTEN A LIE) gave them false information 'to get a lower price' they can DROP you and then SUE you for all the money they have paid to your doctors BACK!

WE HAVE TO STOP THIS...

Good idea.  The kitchen in Mark Penn's beach house really needs remodeling.

This is a positive diary (2.00 / 1)

Did you really need to throw that in here?  I can't stop you, but I'll ask you to take it elsewhere.  I sincerely meant what I wrote.  Healthcare for everyone is an issue of conscience for the country.  Sorry that all you can add to the conversation is snark.

Re: This is a positive diary (1.00 / 1)

If you think Hillary is going to get universal healthcare legislation passed you're delusional.  She's just pandering.  Mark Penn thanks you for your contribution, though.

She's not pandering (2.00 / 1)

and you know it.  She's has spent the better part of a lifetime trying to get universal healthcare in this country.  And stop with the Mark Penn shit, Ok?  Last time I checked Alexrod was pulling down some pretty heavy compensation.  But what does that have to do with healthcare; in either case.  You're angry without a point.  Back to your bridge!

Sure she is (1.00 / 1)

Sure she is.  She failed in 1993 and learned nothing from it.  She's still got that same arrogance and my-way-or-the-highway foolishness that sunk her in 1993.  And all she cares about is the Billary legacy, she's not going to risk tarnishing that even further by getting smacked down by the GOP yet again.  It's an obvious pander.  Even if she was serious, she's creating an obvious obstacle to movement toward the only truly progressive health-care system, which is single payer.  Nope, nothing good about Hillary on the health care front. But go ahead and keep writing checks to Mark Penn.

It's not a debate (none / 0)

If you don't make any points.  Hint: calling someone a troll is not a point.  Be sure to make out your latest contribution to Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates.  May as well cut out the middleman.

Health Debate Is Filling Campaign Coffers
By RICHARD L. BERKE,

Representative Jim Cooper offers a simple explanation for his putting forward a health care proposal: "This is a pocketbook issue. It really matters to every family."

It has also become a pocketbook issue for Mr. Cooper, and whatever the fate of his health plan, he is already a winner.

In less than a year, the mild-mannered Democrat from the most rural House district in Tennessee has become the toast of health care providers and insurance companies, which have channeled tens of thousands of dollars of contributions to his campaign for a Senate seat.

Mr. Cooper is only one of the many politicians benefiting from the fund-raising frenzy set off by the national dialogue over health care.

Since drug companies, hospitals, insurers and doctors have so much at stake in the legislation that may emerge from the Congress, many are investing all they can in lawmakers whose proposals would be most favorable to them -- or the least damaging.

They are showering millions of dollars in donations to members of Congress with prominent roles in the debate, like Mr. Cooper, whose plan is the alternative to President Clinton's proposal most often preferred by business because it neither requires employers to provide coverage nor limits insurance premiums.

What exactly is it that Hillary did not learn? (2.00 / 1)

in your opinion? That MONEY rules EVERYTHING in this country, especially the media and politics?

I'm glad you have SO much confidence in Barack Obama, Inc.

The insiders insider.. Mr. Marketing.

Also, while you are here, why don't you read up a little bit on what REALLY happened in 1994 and WHO WAS BEHIND IT?
