I don't know about you, but, I blog out of passion for my beliefs and for what I, personally, think is righteous. I would imagine many people here on MyDD share my feelings about why they're here, too.

In my 32+ years of participating in and following U.S. politics, like many, I find this cycle to be far more fascinating than any I've lived through until now.

Now, I don't care if you support Clinton or Obama or even McCain, as long as you're sincere with regard to what you write. That being said, if you're going to get in my face here with disingenuous bullshit, then I've got a problem with "you."

Which brings me to the purpose of why I'm posting this diary now.

If "you" are going to go behind my back and make a total hypocrite of yourself as you shit on this community in public to others, elsewhere, I've got an even bigger problem with YOU.

And, I'd suspect that others here would feel similarly upset if they knew what you were doing when you weren't within earshot of MyDD, too.

YOU then return here, under the guise of "contributing to this community," only to repeat this cycle of vicious and disingenuous behavior, often on a nightly basis.

Over at MyDD, we're hosting an Obama/Clinton supporter debate in order to bridge or seal some of the rifts on that site that have emerged from this contentious primary debate. I know some of you lurk or frequent the forum over there; please drop by and offer input if you've got any.

It's scheduled for next week Sunday, tentatively. At the least, it will be great fun. It seems that some of the heavy-hitters on MyDD that left Kos are, ahem, a little reticent to engage in such a debate, which I find a little amusing, but nonetheless- this is for furthering the dialog and hopefully doing something to mend the rift between our camps.

She's, predictably (in my opinion) shied away from accepting it. Everytime she's brought up with hard facts, she retreats- which she couldn't do here, I take it, but is easy for her to accomplish at MyDD.

A debate would only force her to try and answer those questions, which she'd never be able to.

That's very nice of you.

I actually left MyDD for two weeks, and sat back and watched as the worst of the lot there were expelled from the site, and then most of them were allowed back. Right now I think it's at a point where it's at least possible to have a decent argument there.

There's the Alegre's and Linfar's of the world, who are either directly working for Hillary, or extremely closely allied to her campaign, and then there's some racists and "unusual personalities" who got thrown off here and other sites and think they're being subtle over on MyDD.

However, then there's a small group of Hillary supporters who are just there parroting what they've been told, however wrong. If left alone the Clintonite core will come along and reinforce the misinformation, so when I have time I try to drop by and inject reality if I can, or at least make them support their claims. It is what it is.

Now, I'm not sure, but this isn't a Clinton website. It's a progressive website. There is no prerequisite for supporting Clinton to post here, just as there isn't for supporting Obama over at daily Kos.

I try to be polite, sometimes I get snarky, and that's all there is. Not some stupid conspiracy, just trying to refute some of the odious allegations and to put forward counter arguments about silly gas tax holidays.

Well, I think you proved beyond reproach you are the biggest troll of all. The Terms of Service here specifically forbid calling other people out by name, like this, for one.

For two, you're simply trying to create trouble because of whatever problem you've got with DailyKos. I mean, Good Lord, man, it's a friggin' website. Get over it.

On my diary, for instance, referenced there on Kos- I've never had any qualms taking Alegre to task here on MyDD. She never diaries anything worth a damn, in my opinion, it's all hackneyed and divisive junk, and she's yet to answer a really hard question.

I don't really see the point here, other than to be intentionally provocative. Some people have problems with the site or criticisms of certain bloggers that they air elsewhere. Is that about it? If so, I expect future installments on comments made at OpenLeft, Hillaryis44, No Quarter, Free Republic, etc.

Also, what is the obsession with DailyKos? It's become almost pathological around here.

That's probably true. Dailykos did a lot of great things for the progressive community and a lot of people learned a lot and felt like a part of an important movement.

I can't blame people for being upset about what happened there.

What's hypocritical about it? We all know that just about everyone at DKos views MyDD with disdain these days. Even the ones who still post here are only too happy to tell us how pathetic we -- and this blog -- have become. I hold no illusions that the Obama supporters who hang around here have any real respect or use for most of us. I think a lot of them are sick of their echo chamber, and I think some of them were here before this cycle began and are hoping things go back to normal soon.

That said, some of them behave decently enough here, and I'm not interested in what they're saying on DailyBarackos. Let them group us all together, let them call us racists and Republicans. Who gives a damn? A lot of people on MyDD sure spend a lot of their time stereotyping them, so it's not like we have a lot of room to talk here.

Those people aren't necessarily trolling, though, and some of them have actually been helpful. The ones who've been fair and respectful (some, if not all of the time) are good advocates for their candidate. Some of them aren't difficult to get along with. The segregation of Hillary and Obama supporters between MyDD and DKos isn't necessarily a good thing. We spend far too much time dehumanizing each other, and talking to Obama supporters civilly has reminded me that they're as human as I am. I'm grateful for their presence, and I would hate to see them leave.

I just finished reading a freakin' REC'D diary here accusing this site of being racist...from someone who hates Hillary Clinton to the point of being on record as grossly misogynistic and a downright bigot, themselves?

I see great diaries, night after night here, trolled by folks that use the excuse that they're just contributing to the community, when in fact, their own comments elsewhere based upon face value--in and of themselves--indict them as trolls, plain and simple.

This diary is about honest communication versus obfuscated trollish behavior.

I agree whole heartedly with Bob. I started out on Dkos in 2004, for crying out loud, and I was driven away by the nastiness and intolerance of Obama supporters there. I do not go back to dKos to taunt or convince or do anything. (I peek from time to time when I smell a melt down) I don't care if Obama supporters support Obama. Good for them. Let them have fun with their primary season, fine. I do care that they are, with the rare exception, the biggest online assholes I have ever seen in the netroots. And they definitely changed my mind about how much power I want concentrated in the hands of such people.

Uh huh. I spent all of sixty seconds writing that post. He obviously had to do a lot of research, since he had to rift through blog posts, find who was who (considering, for instance, I go by a different moniker at Kos), etc, etc.

Sorry, but that's one thing I can't stand, is to be attacked personally. You can disagree with my candidate, or opinions on policy and such, but you start to have issues with me, I'm gonna stand up for myself.

But that's not a personal attack against you- as bobswern seems to be doing; you could accuse me of demagoguery, and I would be able to show you I've made an honest effort to reach out to Clinton supporters, because I honestly believe there's no way we'll win unless it's together.

However, everytime I see you post, it's a slam on Obama hands-down, as if he could do no right ever, or against an Obama supporter. If I've mischaracterized your behavior, I'll be happy to admit to it- but that's what I see.

You have a very convenient definition of what constitutes a personal attack. I never called you a "demagogue[]." I never "accuse[]" you of anything either.

I don't have many positive things to say about Barack Obama. I don't have a positive opinion of him. I state my perspective.

Frankly, I want a candidate I can advocate for wholeheartedly in the fall. I will vote Dem regardless of the candidate's identity, but I know many people who won't vote for Obama. (These people are not mythological creatures invented solely for the sake of argument).

I shilled for John Kerry bigtime and hated it towards the end when his Mary Cheney bomb revealed to me that he was an opportunist who would sell out principle in a heartbeat. I voted for him but I couldn't advocate for him well because it wasn't in my heart.

Obama is not in my heart.

I don't. This is really stupid, because instead of arguing the points we're arguing about who posted what on which website, but if you want to take a look at how often I post at Kos versus here, you'll see I post at Kos if:

1) I write a diary here and think it could benefit them

I write a diary about something going on here (like the debate we're doing)
I need help from a bigger community of people who are interested in topics other than this primary war.

MyDD has been my home, and I wouldn't give it up for Kos in a heartbeat. I just don't get the obsession over it.

I suppose Bob can feel anyway he wishes, but this is ridiculous. I'd love to write a diary taking Alegre to task, for instance, but it's very specifically against the user guidelines on this website- but Bob can get away with this trite and unredeeming trash with no consequence.

Look at my diary history at both places and most of it is here (I cross post some but not terribly much), I look over there to get a larger picture (due to the larger community a more news filters through there than does here) and occaisonally comment. I will say that it has gotten ugly there, tonight a poster named David HG had up a diary about a certain Presidental candidate's secret service attachment calling that candidate a very derogatory name (all done anonymously). I recced the people's comments saying to take down the diary and voted to have it taken down.

I've been coming to MyDD for over 2 yrs now; it is the only national blog I patronize. I read and occasionally comment on two of my state blogs and at the local newspaper politics blog.

Therefore, I only know from what is posted here about what goes on at DKos.

I'm probably not the only one, as many of us have many other priorities in our lives that require our time and physical and psychic energy.

Therefore, I wouldn't have known that those you cite are actually two-faced. One in particular surprised me, since he has tried to portray himself as fair and high-minded.

We already know that some use other names here, and we have to deal with that.

I particularly find the chat room-type comments a turn-off. Some of these people must be like the stereotypes on SNL.

I'd like to stay with MyDD, but am open to info re a Dem. discussion site frequented by adults.

Blogging is just as fun as it is productive. Sometimes the fun/social aspect eclipses the mission, but the two aspects are always waxing and waning in opposition to one another.

After elections, people can get more serious because issues gain attention in place of campaigns. At the height of campaign season, there's going to be a lot of news junkies looking for that quick fix; I'm not criticizing cause I do it sometimes. After a big change in the status quo, I find it exciting to read the myriad different perspectives. The info highway can be so overwhelming that we tend to short circuit in our haste.

Once things calm down, I'd expect a more sober return to the norm.

It's like when someone (usually a troll) takes the comments off-topic into a pissing match with one or more other commenters. I used to see it at AirAmerica's blog all the time where nested comments would have so many tiers from sniping back and forth that each line had only one word. 'You're an asshole' 'No you're an asshole' 'No really, it's you who's the asshole' 'Uh-uh, I'm sure it's you' etc.

And now someone started a whole diary that has no purpose but to call out other diarists and commenters. Am I in the Twilight Zone or something?

And let me add further to my remarks in that MyDD is attracting racist bigots and obvious freepers. Now, on most Progressive blogs, these get routinely banned, because even the slightest tint of racism disqualifies anyone from participating in a community like this. The "affirmative action candidate"? Comments about black crime rates? Trolls that disparage black anger over the Tuskegee experiment? Really?

Then, there's the rightwing extremism. Multiple diaries about Bill Kristol's NYT op-eds. Claims that Fox Noise is indeed fair and balanced. That republican anti-Democrat ad from NC glowingly described because it's also anti-Obama. People getting described as America-haters, leftwing extremists and whatever other freeper frame comes to mind. The list goes on.

It's not even about Clinton and Obama. It's about the kind of discourse that's considered appropriate in a Progressive community.

This little offering is a perfect example of Kos thought. Any discussion of race as an issue in American politics is completely off limits although MBNYC doesn't seem to realize it's one of the great fault lines in US society. Any mention of Bill Kristol (who is indeed one of the most malign influences in US politics today) are verboten because we are giving aid and comfort to the enemy. We might as well say we can't mention Joe McCarthy. The mis characterisation of comments. No one praised the Republican ad in NC they pointed out entirely legitimately that this is the sort of tactic that is going to be used in the general. I come here and I go to other forums. In fact, I've been doing it a lot longer than almost all of you. I have User Id of 1167. I try to obey the rules here, and I try to obey them at other places, but I feel no obligation to be loyal to MyDD when I'm on another forum, and, likewise, I don't think people here should feel an obligation to be loyal to Dkos when they're posting here. Sometimes, when you want to go meta, you gotta go somewhere else.

And, really, right now, MyDD is a MESS. I've said it here before. It's an ugly trainwreck, and it's the main reason I have boosted my activity here, because I LOVE ugly trainwrecks, from a voyeuristic perspective. And with that said, I must applaud the diary author for having made the trainwreck even more entertaining for me today. This is like a pie train colliding with a clown train.

To review, you have become so insanely petty that you have gone to DKos to scrounge for posts criticizing MyDD and mocking the growing and obvious insanity of this place. Then you posted them here for what reason? Those of us on both forums (and that includes you, obviously) know what is being said. People on MyDD trash Dkos (THE BIG ORANGE SATAN) on a daily basis here. The fact that many people here are "on strike" (ha ha ha, ya got me quivering now) doesn't distract from the fact that cross-pollination has been going on for years between the two forums. With "The Strike," the meta-trashing has just been raised to a new level.

And you're offended by some posts on DailyKos? Jesus man. Get a fucking grip!

Okay. I've had my laugh for the day. I'm over my recommended daily allowance. Please, next time, paste something I said so I don't feel left out.

Basically Kos has got more and more like the nut factory over the past couple of years. Basically it's because of the way the system works which has allowed a little Soviet to seize control of the dialogue. Any dissent is as ruthlessly suppressed as it was in Stalinist Russia. The range of opinions expressed their essentially on the far left of the Democratic debate and in he main they are as crazy as those on the far right of the Republican party. In fact in many cases you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. I've seen comments there about Pelosi, Reid, Clinton, and Bill Clinton that would have looked totally at home on Redstate. As this diarist points out most of the extremism here such as accusations of racism etc. comes from the same people who post similar stuff at Kos.

I left Kos because there was no more rhyme and reason in the discussion over there.

The main theme of Kos is to wield a personal attack on HRC, and against HRC supporters.

Life is too short to be arguing with narrow-minded people. I wouldn't worry too much about Kos if I were you. Just left it rotten in its own craps. There is a better thing to do.
