He should drop out...?

I am absolutely loving how for months now the same people who say Obama supporters should not tell Hillary to drop out, waddle over to the next diary and start yelling about how he is unelectable and should drop out now. You know who you are.

Let me put it plainly.

If Hillary was up ~160 some delegates, won 30+ states, had popular vote, and had a problem with "The Family" pastor you would never say she needs to drop out.

Instead you'd be telling Obama supporters how he can not win now.

So please, kindly, go outside, take a walk in a park, hug your kids. Then come back and continue posting what you are posting now.  Or maybe not.

Maybe the fresh air will do you good. Maybe something will change.

Agreed, I think they should stay in (and stay positive) until all the votes are in.  So June.  I'd hate to see it go all the way to the convention floor though.  McCain is too many free passes on his constant line of crap.

This Clinton supporter does not want anyone to drop out, even if Obama loses IN and NC, which was what the diary was about.

Exactly. No one should drop out until the primaries are over. Everyone needs to shut up and let things work themselves out.

But he's a pansy, while she's a Rocky-esque fighter.  He's just an orator, while she's a brings tears-to-the-eyes actor.  That makes all the difference in the world.

Re: He should drop out...? (none / 0)

Even though I believe Obama has become toxic to middle America I still believe he is on track to win the nomination.

NC and Indiana will be pivotal.

toxic? (2.00 / 3)

A bit of an overstatement. Polls show not only that he is relatively stable nationwide, but that on questions which ask essentially whether Obama understands American values etc, that he hasn't suffered, even though Wright has been around for a month.

Look, each side has an incentive to try and make the opponents weaknesses seem fatal, but I think people on MyDD have fallen hook, line and sinker for the media's overreactions on Wright.

Toxic?  Heck, the guilt-by-association thing isn't even 1/10th the scandal Bill Clinton survived to get elected in 1992.

Please define "toxic" in this context in a way that does not make so-called "Middle America" toxic.

I just wanted the Obama supporters to see how it FEELS - not too good, right?

I don't think either should drop out unless they want to.

I'm sorry, but you fail.  This points out "similarity" just like the diary entry "She is black?"

Re: He should drop out...? (none / 0)

In the case of calls for Obama to drop out, it just feels silly.  I understand and respect the desires of many for Clinton to stick it out, but since March 4 her chances of ending the primaries as the leader of the pledged delegate race have been slim to none.  After PA, the odds against her doing so rose steeply.  And for months it has been a decidedly minority opinion that the loser of the pledged delegate race might be a suitable choice for the superdelegates.

IF Obama were behind in pledged delegates, primary and caucus victories, popular vote, and money raised, I would take seriously calls for him to drop out.

he should accept VP in June after Hillary wins most of the remaining contests, is polling stronger against McCain and takes over the popular vote lead. after all its not about "him" right?

The difference (1.00 / 3)

is Clinton supporters don't think he can win the general so we were acting out of the goodness of our hearts. Obama supporters don't care about the general, they just want to beat the woman, so they're not acting out of the goodness of their hearts.

Re: He should drop out...? (none / 0)

He's not going to drop out, and he certainly doesn't have to. What the devoted Obama fans are missing in all this though is that he's destined to lose in November. This is so abundantly clear it's starting to bother members of the liberal chattering classes which is why were starting to see some wobbling from Dowd and others. I don't expect any of the Obama supporters here to buy into this since in the main they seem fanatical in their devotion and that is totally understandable given the emotions of the campaign. Next week will serve as a good guide to where opinion is going. If she wins Indiana and he fails to win NC by anything other than a landslide then the Obama fans need to pause and ask themselves a question. How important is winning next November.
