Is there a Zogby-Obama connection?

I wouldn't be so shocked about the newly released Zogby poll finding Hillary Clinton behind John McCain by 10 points, if James Zogby (brother of Zogby's CEO John Zogby, and senior analyst of said company) had not become a pro-Obama op-ed columnist for a day in the pro-Obama Huffington Post, and called for Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race.

Do you see a connection here?

Similarly weird is the fact that an AP-Ipsos had been dominating the headlines today with poll with a totally opposite outcome: Hillary up by 9%.

Am I the only one who thinks the timing of this poll is very strange, as if it had come as a damage-control response to the AP poll, carrying the message, "not so fast, Clinton is not the most electable candidate after all!

How ethical is it for a senior analyst in a poll to ask for a race to be over?

It's been there for a while, starting with "OBAMA WINS CALIFORNIA". Zogby's brother is also a declared superdelegate for Barack, so I don't take their polls for worth much of anything. (well, we shouldn't have after 2004 anyway, but still)

Unfortunately, PA is not enough evidence to say Zogby has been accurate or unbiased. Looks like Zogby mostly gets it wrong against her.

Re: Is there a Zogby-Obama connection? (none / 0)

Zogby's interactive polls have been all over the place.  His PA polls were phone polls.

The most worrisome aspect of this poll is that 48% think McCain shares "your values."

"former" is the keyword (2.00 / 2)

Dick Morris is a former advisor to the Clintons. Do you know anyone who hates her more?

Eileen McCaan? (none / 0)

Here's a really funny thing I discovered on Dick Morris' site vote.com

Go to vote.com
Right below the search box on the right (by the top), you see a small photo of him... right click on it, and look at the properties... it's named "small_dick.gif"

hehehe

Re: Is there a Zogby-Obama connection? (none / 0)

Zogby is an Obama supporter. Rasmussen is a right wing supporter. Its not unheard of.

Zogby's polling errors do not result directly from his support of Obama. He isn't making the data up. His problem is that his polling methods tend to oversample progressive/liberal support for candidates across the board.

Take his polls with a grain of salt, and take off the tin foil hat ;)

Fair enough. But my comments on the Zogby polling errors still stand.

No doubt. I won't dispute it. They changed their polling method at some point and have sucked since. My point remains though that I don't think they're producing false numbers to push a candidate over another.

Re: Is there a Zogby-Obama connection? (none / 0)

It is ridiculous to accuse Zogby of bias! A company like Zogby lives and dies by the accuracy of their polls. Less accurate polls equal less subscriptions thus less revenue.

Let's also remember, there's a James Zogby, a super delegate supporting Obama, and there's John Zogby, the pollster, who I don't think has a dog in the fight.

Re: Is there a Zogby-Obama connection? (none / 0)

But there's no way to verify the accuracy of a GE poll until November. This way, Zogby can get away with lying without really being "wrong" about the outcome, yet. The goal would be to convince superdelegates that Obama is more electable than Hillary.

James Zogby, the Obama SD, is a "Senior Analyst" with Zogby.

And if Zogby "lived and died" with accuracy, they would have been dead 4 years ago.

zogby hates clinton !

zogby when he is neutral is a very good pollster but sometimes because of his hate gives numbers he would like to be true his numbers on clinton mean nothing

Re: Is there a Zogby-Obama connection? (none / 0)

Zogby's regular telephone polls, with maybe one exception, have been less than wonderful, but his interactive polls are pure garbage; not worth the cyberspace they are projected on.
