Obama/Wright '08!

I never thought I'd ever see video more damaging to Sen. Barack Obama's campaign than the first videos of Rev. Jeremiah Wright of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ's sermons that emerged in mid-March.  Then I saw these:

Obama/Wright '08!  (hey, that's the Rev's idea, not mine!)

"The fact he's my former pastor I think makes it a legitimate political issue." -Barack Obama, this past Sunday: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,3527 85,00.html
(hey, those are Obama's words, not mine!)

The 527's don't need to swiftboat Obama, Rev. Wright is doing it himself.

Finshed off (2.00 / 2)

with a little flipping of the wrist in very dramatic fashion.

Why is Rev. Wright doing Barack like Bill Clinton did to black America? That Rev. is riding dirty.

I'm not the one that (2.00 / 2)

sat in his church for 20 years. I'm not the one that spoke at the NAACP yesterday and the Press Club today. I'm also not the one that sold tapes of Rev. Wright on the church website.

Now, get out of the way and make some room for all those chickens coming home right now that need to do some rooooooooooooooooooooosting.

He did not say one thing today which was wrong.  His only crime was saying it as a Black Man.

Seconded: I don't agree with it either (none / 0)

Black racists are just as bad as white racists.  There should be no room or tolerance for either in the democratic party.  I vote for kicking Wright out.

So you're one of the nut cases (2.00 / 1)

that thinks the Gov created AIDS to kill people of color. Because he reiterated his stance that it was created by the U.S Gov to kill P.O.C today. You think he's right?

How do you tin foil hat types marry that conspiracy theory with the fact that a majority of the first victims of the virus where white gay males?

Also since you don't find anything wrong with what he said can you explain this comment by him?

"Louis Farrakhan is not my enemy. He did not put me in chains, he did not put me in slavery, and he didn't make me this color."

So who DID put him in chains and make him a slave? If his enemies are people who made him a slave is he talking about the slave traders, slave masters in America or the Africans that sold their adversaries to the slave traders?

Re: So you're one of the nut cases (none / 0)

calling 27% of Black People nutcases is not helpful.  And he did not say that today.  You also only quoted half of the Farrakhan comment.  And Chains is a metaphor.

If 27% of black America (2.00 / 1)

think the Gov created AIDS to kill them and me while ignoring facts and reason then they are indeed nut cases.

Please let me know what chains is a metaphor for? What about slavery? What is that a metaphor for?

You intellectually dishonest Obamacans are something else.

His views on Farrakhan and Israel? "Louis said 20 years ago that Zionism, not Judaism, was a gutter religion. He was talking about the same thing United Nations resolutions say, the same thing now that President Carter's being vilified for and Bishop Tutu's being vilified for. And everybody wants to paint me as if I'm anti-Semitic because of what Louis Farrakhan said 20 years ago. He is one of the most important voices in the 20th and 21st century; that's what I think about him. . . . Louis Farrakhan is not my enemy. He did not put me in chains, he did not put me in slavery, and he didn't make me this color."

He denounced those who "can worship God on Sunday morning, wearing a black clergy robe, and kill others on Sunday evening, wearing a white Klan robe." He praised the communist Sandinista regime of Nicaragua. He renewed his belief that the government created AIDS as a means of genocide against people of color ("I believe our government is capable of doing anything").

There is the whole context and his response to the AIDS question. Now tell me who are his enemies since it wasn't Farrahkan because he didn't enslave him.

Re: So you're one of the nut cases (none / 0)

I'm no Obama supporter, but just to be clear, a majority of the first victims of the HIV virus and AIDS were not white gay men - they were, and continue to be, Africans.

Not African Americans, and certainly not developed by the US govt to keep African Americans down - that's over-the-top CT.  But facts count, and sub-Saharan Africans are (thus far) the greatest victims of this terrible disease.

  • it didn't tell me anything fundamentally new about the dynamic between them
  • so I didn't shit my pants
  • if you think Wright's press club appearance today is as minor a blip as Barack's bird, I think you're wrong
  • we'll see

Re: Obama/Wright '08! (none / 0)

Hey is cool at times Hillary looks like shes giving a Nazi Salute, I don't think she's doing it intentionally.... er wiat saying that would be insane much like the flipped off thing seriously, after all this bullshit its becoming increasingly clear that we can't win in the fall, bwecaus eif Obama is DOA as some Clinton people think, then Hillary is also done because the sheer insanity of some of this crap (the furor over Wright, the non-story on Ayers, the "Bird" etc) is going to make it literally impossible for young voters to come out in the Fall (hell on the issue McCain's more trusted anyway) and I'm starting to become afraid that the African American community is going to get one message from this whole fiasco: "We want your votes, but know your place."

Re: Obama/Wright '08! (2.00 / 1)

You know, your post was kind of hard to read.

But as far as telling AA voters "know your place", I do not agree with that at all.  Barack Obama was doing very well, across the country, when he focused on positive themes, and when he kept race out of it.

Note: that is not the same as suggesting his race is bad.  But his dialogue with America was very productive when he was not emphasizing racial issues.

Now, his campaign decided to push the race issue, because if you flip back in time to New Hampshire, Hillary actually had a bigger % of the AA vote than Barack (due to Clintons' long legacy of honorable service to the AA community).  So Barack's campaign decided to play dirty with race, to create a wedge just in time for South Carolina.

Well, it worked in the short-run.  But is it working in the long run?

He did this.  And now we are all dealing with consequences because of some very irresponsible behavior on the part of his campaign and equally on the part of certain media surrogates.

Clinton/Obama 2008 Obama/Hope 2016 (2.00 / 1)

My personal theory is that Obama has seen that by the demographics he can't beat McCain.

And by being the VP candidate and a gracious one at that he gets Hillary's mantle next time.

Obama's coalition and Hillary's coalition would be unstoppable even if he only got half Hillary's coalitions active support he would be unstoppable.

But he needs a way to throw the race that his coalition won't recognize as selling out...Enter Wright.

Yup, Senator Clinton's coalition of 55% against would definitely be unstoppable. In McCain's favor that is.
