Using John McCain's Own Words Against Him

This is fun. The DNC has another ad up hitting John McCain using his own words (see their first one HERE), this time for his "100 years in Iraq" statement. The RNC has, predictably, hit back whining that it distorts what McCain said but their cries of "out of context! distortion!" ignore a very important thing and something that's threatening to become a liability for John McCain: videotape doesn't lie.

Watch it:

The problem with attempting to nuance Iraq, is that, as Howard Dean said:

"What John McCain doesn't understand is that the American people aren't fine with being in Iraq for 100 years in any capacity," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean.  "The American people want a President who will responsibly end the war, not more of the same failed policy in Iraq that continues to cost $12 billion a month.  They want a President who will invest that money here at home to create jobs and ensure our kids have health care.   The more voters learn about John McCain, we're confident they will recognize that he is the wrong choice for America's future."

This is part of a $500,000 national cable ad buy. Help refill DNC coffers here.

NO to DNC coffers. (2.00 / 2)

Will contribute directly to HRC, though.

I will give zero, nada, zip, nothing to the DNC until they reform the primary process.

Re: NO to DNC coffers. (none / 0)

good attitude. It is much more important that we work to elect one Democrat over another than it is to keep this NUT JOB out of office.

72 years worth of stuff!! I'm thrilled about the campaign and since he loves the press and cameras around him, now it's going to come back to bite him in the ass.

Fabulous.

His posture does add a certain something... (none / 0)

If Howard Dean's gonna put ads like that on the air, I'll happily chip in.

I won't give to the DCCC and the DSCC because our Congresscritters won't stand up and fight the GOP.  (I'll give to individual candidates, though.)  But I'll give to the DNC, you betcha, as long as they're doing good stuff like this.

I'm in the exact spot you are. Haven't given a cent to any party organizations since the Lieberman debacle, just candidates.

But this is so damn good....

My first donation to the DNC this campaign season. It's extremely important to start getting the word out about McCain.
But I'm still mad at Dean.
I also plan on using half of my "stimulus" check to help fund down ticket races in the House and Senate. Take that, Bush!

read my diary about this very idea. I am seriously consdiering starting an organization simply to fund this idea.

"Videotape doesn't lie"----love it.

The guy who asked the question should get an award.

Also, when the Republicans say "context", the "context" actually makes it worse.  He says 100 years is OK b/c those 100 years will be peaceful.  Right.  Seriously, the guy's not in touch with reality.

I can't donate now... (2.00 / 2)

but after graduation, when I find a job, I'll kick in as much as I can--probably more than I can afford, knowing me, but it's for a GREAT cause!

What??? (2.00 / 3)

Democrats actually attacking John McCain instead of each other?  What a concept!  I can think of a few dozen diarists on here who might catch on to this approach before November.

Or maybe not.

Re: Using a Candidate's Own Words (2.00 / 1)

And will Obama's own words be used against him?

When asked on Fox News today for examples of superior Republican ideas, Sen. Obama gave Republican theory on regulation a thumbs up!
Re:  regulation of corporate America:

"Let them figure out how they want to reduce pollution."

Well, this is what big business has been doing the last seven years under GWB.  Nice to know BHO will be more of the same.  Honestly I would think progressives and real Dems would be up in arms over this.  Hey, not to worry, corporate America, when I'm president you can keep all your foxes in the henhouses!

Re: Using a Candidate's Own Words (none / 0)

trollrated for being grossly off topic and attacking a Democrat... and if that is against the rules I could care less.

This is a thread about McCain and his idiocy. If you would rather see McNuttynutterson in the white house than Obama then goto REDSTATE.

JEZus!

Dean is a screaming imbecile but, why am I not surprised the party of snivelers still have Bozo as their chair.

Is it too much to stop whining long enough to figure out we've been in every country we've fought in for what...60 some years??

All of you clowns can play at being as stupid as you want but, anyone with a clue just look at you and laugh.
