It's this simple

Clinton netted 10 delegates out of Pennsylvania. She's still down by 161 delegates. She can't catch up.

She will have to win over 70% of the remaining superdelegates to catch up.

It's not a diary; it's just a taunt. (2.00 / 1)

If he or she relaly believed it, he or she would not need to say it.  Thus, the very verbal act of claiming Clinton cannot catch up disproves the assertion.

Re: It's not a diary; it's just a taunt. (none / 0)

The point is that popular vote doesn't matter, the scandal du jour doesn't matter, electoral vote doesn't matter, the polls don't matter, the media narrative doesn't matter, the he said, she said doesn't matter, the electability argument doesn't matter, the expectations games doesn't matter.

Delegates.

No offense. That doesn't make sense. He can taunt you with the truth more effectively than with a lie.

This isn't a diary, but It's a good point. (none / 0)

Hillary supporters are not willing to address this point and they need to.

It's this simple...

No candidate will get a win with delegates, so it's up to super-delegates.

And super-delegates will choose the person who won the popular vote after Michigan and Florida revotes.

Re: It's this simple (none / 0)

And how does that work with the Caucus states....do they all get to re-vote in a primary? Sounds really workable there Jaz.

Re: It's this simple (none / 0)

1. There will be no re-votes. I think we all know that. It's a pure matter of logistics.

2. The point people miss when they say that neither candidate will get the requisite number of delegates from pledged and thus both need supers is that she will need VASTLY MORE. She will need 70-80% of the remaining superdelegates. There's no reason to think that will happen- even if you assume she finds some equally compelling rationale to Obama's victory in the primaries.

Delusional (none / 0)

I know you HRC supporters like to post all these polls saying that only 10% of the Supers think pledged delegates are the most important deciding factor - but NO polls have said anything about Supers thinking popular vote is somehow more important than pledged delegates. You're making up facts here simply because they suit you. Popular vote is a flawed and intangible measurement in this race, and the ONLY Supers using it as an excuse are those who ALREADY support Hillary.

Re: It's this simple (none / 0)

I think it is a diary. The simplicity/brevity is the very point. What better way to emphasize it.

Brilliant diary. (none / 0)

Nuanced, in-depth, well-referenced...

Pathetic.

Thanks for contributing.

Nothing.

Re: Brilliant diary. (none / 0)

The mistake we've made is allowing the Clinton campaign to introduce all these other distractions. It's a delegate race.  Or I could have written a few paragraphs making that very simple point. You're welcome.

Re: It's this simple (none / 0)

oh gosh not this again....

the focus has shifted brimur. Im not saying this to be mean but: get a clue.

if you dont realize that this is no longer about delegates then, man you are behind.

the focus for clinton has changed to the pop. vote and making the case that the pop. holds more water then delegates, electability, and so on...

Duh. its impossible for her to catch up in non-super delegates. thats the whole reason for shifting.

Re: It's this simple (none / 0)

Do you understand that the superdelegates need not all go to the same candidate?

Do you therefore understand that the number of superdelegates each candidates needs to convince is an important factor, regardless of which metric he/she uses to convince them?

Whether Clinton depends on "electability", on "popular vote" or on "the wishes of Odin All-father", she'll have to convince more than 70% of the superdelegates to that fact -- Obama on the other hand will have to convince less than 35% of them.
