No More 3 to 1, 4 to 1 in November against GOP

As a business owner & a regular democratic donor for the last 20 years, how can I have confidence in a man who has had 3 to 1, 4 to 1 money advantages PLUS bias favorable coverage, yet, Cannot defeat an opponent.

This is the 3rd straight large state with a diverse population that Sen. Obama broke All Spending records for a primary but could not defeat a outspent, media punching bag opponent.

Sen. Obama will Not have 3 to 1,  4 to 1 advantages in November against Republicans. In fact, Democrats will be lucky to have any advantage at all in spending.
He will not have a total media favorable bias in November.

The Republican Party are locked & ready for a $ 150 million barrage waiting for Senator Obama.

This time-

Republicans would even wait for him to spend all his money because they will attack him massively 24/7

He won't have enough Black voters to carry states like NC,GA,AL,SC,MD,MS in November.

He won't have the bullcrap "delegate splits" in a winner take all november. No More delegate splits.

( If we had a GOP primary winner take all system, Clinton would win the nominee today)

He won't have enough black voters to prevent him from losing in landslides fashions in states like Ohio, Texas, PA, NJ.

(If not for the unprecendented 90-92% black vote for him, Clinton would have won OH,TX,PA,CA,NY by over 20 points !)

Come November, Blacks can vote for him at 99% & it won't mean crap in states like OH,PA,NJ,MO & so many states)

He won't have enough liberal whites & liberal youths to keep the count close in states like Massachusetts, NH & Connecticut.

Just like many democrats, I am rapidly losing confidence in Obama for November.

We are headed for a massive defeat at the expense of Not Offending African-American voters & Old white liberals like Pelosi, Kerry & Kennedy.

The longer non-partisan people are exposed to Obama, the more they realize that this guy is simply Not Ready to be President.

And the longer they are exposed to Michelle Obama, the more they realize that Cindy McCain would be a more fitting first lady. Class & Dignity fitting for a first lady.

Hillary Clinton should Not accept any VP slot.

An Obama led ticket will lead this party to our worst defeat since Mondale.

You can write that in stone.

The overwhelming Majority of Democratic business owners across the country will cross party lines if Obama is the nominee.

We have Enough problems to deal with. The last thing I want is a President who is not qualified.

We will fight for Hillary Clinton until the end.

This is the most racist diary I've ever read on this site.  I hope someone deletes this.  What were you thinking when you wrote the following:

Obama's funding coming from 'stakeholders' who (none / 0)

I suspect that like Jim Cooper before him, much of Obama's copious funding is probably at least in part coming from
stakeholders
like health insurers, healthcare providers and pharmaceutical companies who would be forced to negotiate with the government over rates under a Hillary Clinton administration.

Obama wont hold that advantage in the general election, those same stakeholders would prefer McCain

For what I mean, see this article from the last time a universal health care plan was coming before the electorate:

Um, what do 1two 14-year-old articles (1994) (none / 0)

... have to do with Obama?

You "suspect?"

Do you have any proof?

Of course, the facts are that Obama collects a much larger share of his campaign funds from small donors than Clinton.

But since you only have you suspicions and no facts, the actual facts will have to do.

must you see everything as racist? (none / 0)

Sorry, the last thing that this diary is about is about racism.  And to dismiss this argument as such does not do your candidate any favors.

You must do the work now of bringing other people to Obama besides the current demographic he is pulling.  The money advantage has not translated into a winning electoral map.

One of the sure things that will stop your candidate is if  you dismiss every legitimate concern as "racism".  You won't be able to intimidate people like that.

If I were you, I'd step away from the keyboard and start working to ensure your candidate cannot lose in the general.  Beating up on HRC is not going to do that for you.

You do know she is a thieving drug addict right?

   * Cindy McCain, the wife of Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.), admitted stealing Percocet and Vicodin from the American Voluntary Medical Team, an organization that aids Third World countries. Percocet and Vicodin are schedule 2 drugs, in the same legal category as opium. Each pill theft carries a penalty of one year in prison and a monetary fine. McCain stole the pills over several years.

The flip side of the argument is... (2.00 / 0)

... how can you support a candidate who has a lot of trouble raising money?

This moaning from Camp Clinton that "Obama has outspent us 3-to-1 or 4-to-1" is pathetic and transparent. Maybe Hill should "take off her uniform" if all she wants to do is complain about how much money her opponent is able to raise.

I think the Obama campaign and the media have been remiss in not hitting back at this inane talking point. To whit:

  • 1. Why isn't Clinton able to match Obama in fundraising and what does that say about the viability of her candidacy? Where are Democrats placing their bets?
  • 2. How is this not the kind of whining Bill and Hillary have derided the last week? Should Hillary "take off her uniform" because she is bleeding cash?
  • 3. Would Clinton be pounding Obama into the dirt with everything she had were the shoe to be on the other foot?

So let's cut the crap. She was broke before she raised some dough online last night. That's why Obama is outspending her. If she had it, she'd spend it. But she doesn't.

This is a diary? (1.00 / 1)

Looks like a racist rant/comment to me, and a poorly reasoned one at that.

If you're going to place a comment as a diary, the least that you can do is show some intelligence; i.e., pay some attention to the fact that there are a ton of white Democrats out there who voted for Clinton and who might actually vote for Obama when he is the nominee.  Idiot.

Re: No More 3 to 1, 4 to 1 in November against GOP (none / 0)

What a pathetic racist rant?!?!  Holy Shit - did it ever occur to you that when Obama wins PRIMARIES (since I'm not even going to try and get in an intelligent discussion about Caucuses with you) in states like Wisconsin, Utah, and Delaware with NO AA Population at all, there might be something more at work than just a black vote? or an "old liberal" vote for Obama?

Maybe the fact that Obama wins states with very high and very low black populations is too much "fact" for you to handle.  Or maybe in states with a middle range of black populations that have had to deal with integration and segregation in the not too distant past, there are a few too many racists like you remaining to be able to credibly win without independents and a general election

This diary is disgusting.  (Oh yeah, and having enough money to outspend someone is something to be proud about and should bode the question of why your candidate is in a situation to be outspent 3-1)

Re: No More 3 to 1, 4 to 1 in November against GOP (none / 0)

I'm a business a owner and an Obama supporter.

From a business perspective, Obama has run an amazing campaign. He's built an unprecedented fundraising machine, he's leveraged the power of the Internet, he's amassed a healthy reserve for the GE, he pays his bills, and he spends his dollars wisely. (Let's not forget that all those ads in PA were effective in cutting Clinton's lead and keeping her from picking up much-needed delegates.)

From a business perspective, Clinton doesn't fair as well. Despite her fame and "inevitable nominee" status, she's failed to raise as much money from individual donors, she's failed to pay her bills on time, she's overpaid for outside consultants like Penn who haven't delivered results, and she doesn't have a large reserve for the GE.

by jdusek on Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 01:40:10 PM EST

Re: No More 3 to 1, 4 to 1 in November against GOP (none / 0)

I don't see the diary referring to Obama's lack of fundraising. He in fact says that Obama is raising & outspending Clinton by 3 to 1.

Its not being able to close the deal that he is questioning. Its the biggest issue of the day.

This reminds me of Howard Dean in 04.

Had the solid backing of the roots community. Had massive amounts of money but finished 4th. After all the noise & the hoopla by the net community.

Also reminds me of Mitt Romney in 08. Massively outspent McCain but could not close the deal.

Money does not buy elections. Especially in this Highest level & in 2008 were most voters are smarter than you think.

Barack has Big issues. No one here will discuss it because it is a gathering of highly partisan pro activists members.

But make no mistake. Obama has real problems especially if he gets to november.

Re: No More 3 to 1, 4 to 1 in November against GOP (none / 0)

The diarist said business owners won't vote for Obama.

The diarist implied that the reason business owners won't vote for him is because of how he's spent his money.

I'm a business owner, I'm extremely impressed with his operation, and I will vote for him in November.

I'm less impressed with Clinton's operation and her financial decisions, but I will vote for her in November, too, if she is the nominee.

The pressure is on BOTH candidates to close the deal. Clinton said it would be over on Feb 5th, yet here we are.

Reason Obama may be getting SO much money.. (none / 0)

It may be related to some vested interests having a lot to lose if Hillary goes on to be the Dem nominee and then wins.

Obama is getting most of his MONEY from big donors even though he has a large number of small donors, their donations don't add up to anything near as much. Lots of big money interests have a lot at stake, huge profits they are making now on overpriced health insurance services, for example.

There are HUGE differences between the two (Hillary's plan and Obama's 'half a plan' as
Elizabeth Edwards put it
) differences in the two healthcare plans that will mean thousands of dollars a year in increased costs under Obama-care-lite for the 20% of Americans who have pre-existing conditions and are not covered by a group health plan or who have limited 'choice' coverage with high deductibles like Obama is pushing.
