Seriously, Bowling

It seems we've arrived at that point in our Primary when everyone is given permission to make the silliest of suggestions.  Ideas that are ludicrous on their face are now given respectful consideration.  I have tried to resist the temptation to indulge in this.  But in the wake of Hillary's brilliant April Fool's prank, I find that I have a silly idea of my own.

Believe it or not, I've given this a lot of thought, and I think our two candidates really do need to have a "bowl-off".

Here's why.

It seems to me that all political campaigns have a tendancy to engage in holier-than-thou rhetoric.  Perhaps we are beginning to see some signs of wear and tear from this.  Wouldn't it be a relief to see our two candidates set aside their talking points for just one night, and lace up?

Now, I'm not suggesting that we actually assign delegates this way, of course.

But the match would not be without consequence.  Each campaign would agree, in advance, that for every pin their candidate manages to knock down, they will donate $1000 to relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Katrina.  Helping to atone for our government's national disgrace is something we can all get behind.

Think about it.

The message would be that, when Democrats engage in a serious, heart-felt debate, ultimately it is the most vulnerable among us who win.  It would send a signal that there is no loser.  And wouldn't it be precious to see our two candidates in a bowling match, after all that we've been through?  Might not it give us each implicit permission to do the same, to relax a bit, if only for a short while?

The media would love this.  And I think I would too.

So, what do you think?

Yes This is a good idea (none / 0)

In fact if it were to happen I would donate $.25/pin knock down by both candidates.

(I would give more but I am poor).

Obama has had some practice, so it might not be fair.  In the coverage of his trip to Altoona, and State College in PA, he was seen bowling in Altoona, and feeding a calf with a bottle in or around State College.  He still had his shirt and suit on though, maybe not the suit coat, but still the conservative garb.  The guy needs to relax on country trip, wear a plaid shirt or something.  Anyway, bowling is good or badmitton, even.

Seriously, this bowling thing is yesterday's stale bread. Feed it to the birds and be done with it.

The choice is simple: A President who voted for the worst of Bush's odius agenda, or one who didn't.

It would be hilarious, for sure, and probably do a lot to tone down the rhetoric of the race.

Of course, the less time either candidate spends looking awkward on national TV, the better.

Willing to Tackle Something New (none / 0)

Barack's trying bowling shows he is human and not afraid to try something new just because he is not good at it -- that he does not have to be Mr. Perfect.  Yet some made fun of him for their own agenda and turned something human into political sabotage!
