Phone Banking for Hillary Right Now!

It's 5pm and I'm sitting in an office in Los Angeles filled with almost a dozen Hillary Clinton volunteers. Why am I writing this diary? Because sometimes I feel that in all the back and forth we forget about the passion of the people on the ground. I've been phonebanking for Hillary since January; I've met dozens and dozens of people of different ages, races, and economic status. Some are students, some are full time workers, some are retired. Some of them have children while others are brand new voters. What is true of everyone here is that we are committed to a Democratic victory in November. I am not here because I am opposed to Barack Obama. If Barack Obama wins the nomination he will have my vote. But I am here because I believe in Hillary Clinton. I believe that the differences in their health care plans are not small ones. Out of the two plans only one will lead to universal healthcare. That difference alone is enough for me. Her plan is fantastic, if you haven't read it please do so: http://www.hillaryclinton.com/feature/he althcareplan/americanhealthchoicesplan.p df

They say she voted to authorize the war, I respond that he voted for Cheney's Energy bill. They say _, I say __...
That's not what this is about. We have two phenominal candidates and I would be proud to have either as my President. But with the majorities we are set to win in the House and Senate I don't see why we should give up on Universal Health Care. And please, make no mistake about it...Senator Obama's plan is not Universal as Elizabeth Edwards pointed out.

Let's fight for our candidates in a positive way, let's stop this madness as it has gotten completely out of hand. There are two words I never want to hear and they are "President McCain."

I say best of luck to Obama but I'm not giving up the fight any time soon. I appeal to Obama supporters to stand against the viciousness one can find on the DailyKos and the HuffingtonPost because let us not forget that come November you cannot win without us and we cannot win without you.

7 Days until PA!

If you're not calling then put some coins in the piggybank!

Keep those calls going! I say PA by 10%; followed by wins in Indiana and Oregon. Then we'll see who has momentum!

Sick people COULD END UP SPENDING MANY TIMES MORE (2.00 / 1)

under Obama's than under Hillary Clinton's healthcare plan.

Notice Obama claims that his plan will save 'normal' family (four and a half people) $2000 a year from what they are spending now, in 2012.

That is a pittance compared to pegging healthcare at 5-10% of one's income.

Obama does not limit premiums for people with pre-existing conditions (he just says that they have to offer you a plan, not what they have to charge you, IF YOU ARE NOT NEGOTIATING AS PART OF  ALARGE GROUP THEY WILL CHARGE WHATEVER IT TAKES TO MAKE YOU AND YOU ALONE PROFITABLE)

Obama's model of healthcare is one where PEOPLE GET LESS COVERED WHEN THEY PAY LESS which means in the long run they have higher uncovered costs, monthly caps on benefits, lifetime caps on benefits, high deductibles, 'usual and customary' limits on reimbursements, insurance rescission if you get sick and the insurer says your lied on your application, or left something out, even if it was something that had not been diagnosed yet(! yes, they ARE doing that!) even if it was MANY years in the past.

READ BETWEEN THE LINES OF OBAMA'S PLAN, ITS WAY TOO VAGUE AND THE SPECIFIC WORDING HE USES INDICATES TO ME HE'S PLAYING US.

Excellent Point (2.00 / 1)

This is another strong reason I support Hillary's plan so much more. Senator Obama talks often about "affordability," but limiting the cost to 5-10% of income will make health care much more affordable than lowering the price tag $2,000!

Thats really important.. IF YOU ACTUALLY GET SICK (2.00 / 1)

AND NEED CARE, under Obama's model, you could end up having UNLIMITED uncovered costs, and bluntly, IT HAPPENS A LOT.

Nobody 'plans' to get sick. Obama subscribes to the so called 'consumer driven' health care model. Obama's 'choice' IS AN INVOLUNTARY CHOICE - people 'choose' to buy the cheaper plan, WHICH COVERS LESS. Obama sweetly says 'you saved money' but lets not forget the REASON Bush suggested the so called 'health savings plans' AT THE SAME TIME AS THE RIGHT WAS PUSHING THESE SO CALLED CONSUMER DRIVEN (or a-la-carte) healthcare plans - THE HEALTH SAVINGS PLAN WAS SO YOU COUD TAKE THE MONEY YOU HAD SAVED.. say the sensible 'normal' family was supposed to budget $1200 a month on healthcare.. well, Mom and Pop, together, DONT MAKE ENOUGH TO AFFORD TO SPEND THAT MUCH so they get the $400 a month plan with the high deductible and little if any drug coverage and PRAY THAT NOTHING BAD HAPPENS.. The 'health savings plan' that they are supposed to put tax free money into.. the $800 a month that they are 'saving' by getting the ADMITTEDLY INADEQUATE healthcare plan for the UNCOVERED EXPENSES.. does NOT GET USED because even though they get a TAX BREAK on that $800 IF THEY HAD IT, they DON'T..

THEN WHEN THE BILLS COME, THEY CAN'T PAY IT OR IT TAKES DECADES... then their credit is crewed up and THEY have to pay MORE for EVERYTHING, FOREVER.

Despite my disagreement on some of the issues that Hillary Clinton stands for, I still believe that she will make an awesome president.
