Clinton to pick up 2 more NJ superdelegates?

Hillary Clinton is slated to pick up two additional unpledged add-on delegates when the Democratic State Committee meets later this week to choose add-on and alternate delegates. Sources say that former Governors Brendan Byrne and Jim Florio will be chosen as the two add-on superdelegates. According to a Clinton press release, both endorsed Hillary Clinton last year. Clinton defeated Obama in the New Jersey primary by 54%-44%.

This is very bad news, but not unexpected. I would expect better of Governor Florio.

these are add on delegates this was to be expected since she won the state.

Obama in the end will get more of the add on delegates because he won more states.

so nothing to worry about yet.

As expected. She won the state, thus she gets the add-ons. It is rare for a supporter of the losing candidate to get the add-on slot, though occasionally they choose an uncommitted person to be the add-on, as is the case with one each from OK, DC, and MO, and both add-ons from TN. Those uncommitted add-ons are free to endorse at any time they want.

If we assign all add-ons to the winners (and expected winners) of their states, I get 31 for Clinton, and 45 for Obama, out of a total of 76. That assumes Clinton wins PA, IN, WV, KY, and PR, and that Obama wins NC, OR, MT, and SD. It also assumes that Clinton gets Nevada's add-on, which makes sense considering she won more state delegates, even if Obama gets more pledged delegates due to congressional breakdown. It also assumes Obama gets Texas' three add-ons, which should be likely considering how well he did in the caucuses. It also assumes the undecided add-ons follow their states' leads.

So Obama will probably net around 14 delegates out of add-on selections.
