All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming!

All three Clintons will be heading to the State of Wyoming for the upcoming caucus to blunt the score of victories made by Obama. They have begun to run 60 second radio ads in the state!

Hillary's visits include a 2:30 p.m. town hall meeting at the Laramie County Community College gymnasium in Cheyenne, followed by a 6:30 p.m. town hall meeting at the Casper College auxiliary gym in Casper. Both events are free and open to the public this coming Friday March 7th.

Bill Clinton is there today campaigning in Riverton, Rock Springs and Laramie.

Chelsea Clinton is scheduled to appear with her father in Riverton and then speak at Casper College at 2 p.m.

Could Hillary score a win there this Saturday? If anyone has more information, please respond. This is going to be a good race!

I was afraid that Clinton was going to retreat to (none / 0)

her selective state strategy.  Its a huge relief to see her taking Wyoming seriously.

My question: HillaryClinton.com is directing volunteers to call Pennsylvania.  Why not Wyoming or Mississippi?

Re: I was afraid that Clinton was going to retreat (2.00 / 1)

With 3 Clintons it's entirely possible they could personally talk to every Democrat in Wyoming, thus no need for phone banking.

If Bill and Hillary had thought this thing through a little more carefully they might have wanted a couple more kids.  They could reach a lot more voters with a Mitt Romney-like brigade of offspring.

As a fellow Mountain West resident, (none / 0)

(Montana), that would be funny if it weren't so close to accurate!

She won't win the state, but she needs to try to cut into the margin.

Re: All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming! (none / 0)

They should contest, if not win, at least lose the delegate race by 2 not 15!

however, there are no polls from WY, so why is everyone assuming an Obama victory? Is it because he has an organization there or because it is a caucus state and favors him?

I would like to know.

Re: All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming! (none / 0)

It is a caucus state and he seems to be dominating the Mountain West region in general.

Re: All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming! (none / 0)

What are the demographics that favor Obama in the Mountain West?  There would not seem to be many African Americans or yuppies.  Is this area anti-Clinton in general?  Otherwise the demographics would seem to suggest that Clinton would do better here...

Re: All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming! (none / 0)

Not everyone who supports Obama is an African American or a yuppie, and your mischaracterizations are insulting.

The Mountain West is very independent...  The don't like either party much, so a "new kind of politician" is very appealing to them.

OK - something like 75% of Obama supporters are African American or yuppie.  Happy?

Re: All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming! (none / 0)

Sure, I'm happy.  It shows me that you, like many people, don't understand what his campaign is about... and don't understand his broad appeal.

That's fine... the less his opponents understand, the better it is for his campaign.

But, saying that Obama supporters are all blacks and trust fund hippies is just as demeaning as saying that all Hillary supporters are aggrieved hard luck women.  It simply isn't true.

You may have noticed that Obama tends to do extremely well in places that have virtually no black people at all.  Like Iowa!

Re: All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming! (none / 0)

Well it would be awesome if Clinton could GOTV in a caucus.  I think they did better in Texas than they have been doing - because they really emphasized the need to go out to the caucus.

But I still think that caucuses are a horrible way to elect someone.  I am a big fan of convenience, privacy, and one person one vote - all of which a primary offers.

I like meeting fellow Dems in a caucus, but a caucus vote should have no bearing on the nomination.  (Sort of like the reverse of what Washington state did - caucus AND primary, but only the caucus results counted).

Re: All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming! (none / 0)

First, you complain that too many republicans like Obama.. now, you complain that too many "lefties" like Obama... Make up your mind!

I never really knew much about caucuses until this year, and I think they are really cool!  I wish we had those here.  It's great for party building and it's democracy at its purest level.  Plus, you really get to advocate for your candidate.  It gives everyone a real voice in the process.  I think they are great!  We should do more caucuses!

Now, for people worried about convenience, many caucuses allow absentee ballots...  If you can't make it, you mail your choice in.  It's not as participatory as being in the process, but at least you get your vote in.  (and eliminates the complaint that Hillary supporters are "too busy" to go and vote)

Caucusing with absentee ballots is the way to go... it cuts to the chase with real people as advocates instead of ads and TV time.  It's democracy at its best.

I know you don't like caucuses 'cos Hillary doesn't do well in them, but that's really not a reason to abandon them.  Bill Clinton did very well in his caucus states in 1992.  There is no reason that Hillary couldn't do better in them if she actually tried.

Re: All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming! (none / 0)

It could have something to do wiuth the fact that he's had four campaign offices in the state for months and just opened another in Jackson hole?

Wyoming is Obama country. If the caucus was held today, he'd win with 75% of the caucus.

Re: All 3 Clintons heading to Wyoming! (none / 0)

It's about time... I guess Wyoming "matters" now...  Where was she three weeks ago in the other caucus states?

I'm glad she's learning that the fifty state strategy is the way to win!  The big state strategy has failed time and time again... Fire Penn and Wolfson and get a real campaign manager out there who isn't stuck in the 90's.

Hillary wouldn't be in this position if she wasn't 10 years behind in campaign ideology.

We'll see if she can catch up... probably too little too late!

These are conservative states, even the DEMOCRATIC governor of Wyoming has dissed Howard Dean publically "I don't care what he does". Obama is winning them based on a few things...

The people that support Obama, AA, yuppie or not should ask him why  he is the race if he knows he cant answer ANY call at 3am. Obama without a prepared speech and teleprompter is a sorry sight to behold.
