Pre-Results Thread

Vermont (15 delegates): polls close 7 pm ET.

Ohio (141 delegates): polls close 7:30 pm ET.

Rhode Island (21 delegates): polls close 9 pm ET.

Texas (193 delegates): polls close 9 pm ET

Figures that the least suspenseful result will come the soonest.

Buckeye State Blog is reporting that some major flooding throughout Ohio has led the SoS to authorize voters in certain counties to vote provisionally at their local Board of Elections. Looking at where the worst of the weather is, BSB suspects a suppressed turnout in those areas probably favors Obama.

Did you vote today? What's the buzz on the ground where you are?

Re: Pre-Results Thread (none / 0)

Looks like another late-night nail-biter in Ohio tonight.

Voting problems + close race = no definite results until tomorrow morning?

Re: Flooding (none / 0)

Agreed there.  That's the difference between Democrats and Republicans...we're the ones trying to increase voter participation, the other side looks at how to suppress it.

Anyone want to guess how many more people vote in the Dem primaries than the GOP?  2 to 1 margin?  3 to 1?

Re: Flooding (none / 0)

With the Republican race mostly decided, I would guess closer to 3:1.

Re: Pre-Results Thread (none / 0)

CNN calls Vermont for Obama.  That was quick.

MSNBC and Fox too.  Will he get that extra delegate?  Quite possibly.

Re: Pre-Results Thread (none / 0)

Clinton won seniors by large margins, Obama won young people by large margins. Which group do you think the bad weather effected more?

Re: Pre-Results Thread (none / 0)

CNN projects Obama wins Vermont.  One down, three to go.

Obama wins VT (none / 0)

CNN and MSNBC call it.

No surprise. Exit polls called it a 2-1 victory for Obama.

Iraq a big issue in VT.

Re: Pre-Results Thread (none / 0)

I'll be heading to caucus soon. Many people I never suspected of voting for Hillary have done so already. It's rather shocking, but in a good way.

Oh EXCELLENT weather today in Houston.

Re: Pre-Results Thread (none / 0)

Intrade is showing dramatic movement over the last couple hours. The crtical numbers:

Clinton wins in Ohio: 88%
Obama wins the primary in Texas: 80% (up almost 30 points in the last hour)

Smart money says Clinton takes Ohio, Obama takes Texas. It's not the shutouts of Feb., but it should be enough to bring the party down on Clinton like a ton of bricks if she decides to proceed into Huckbeeism.

Re: Pre-Results Thread (none / 0)

Obama Texas: 83%

And his chance at the nomination has just shot up 9% to the high 80s.

Exhale, my fellow Obamanations. The good guys win again.
