Having Our Cake and Eating It, Too. A Brilliant Solution.

All of us have seen a number of diaries on MyDD advancing the idea of some kind of joint ticket. Most of the time, the idea gets shot down with the "who's on top" debate. But, an article on Slate.com proposes a positively brilliant way that we can have both candidates, each one with a period "on top" - PLUS (drumroll, please) a way to have them both for four full terms. Here's the link:

So, whaddya think?

Yeah, right...  It's silly season.

Yeah, I guess there are a lot of folks who would prefer us to continue eating one other alive rather than look for a creative way to resolve our differences. Not as much fun, I suppose.

Amusing, but utterly unworkable. Even entertaining the idea seriously, I can't imagine how they'd campaign, or how taken aback people would be by the idea of "rotating presidents," not to mention how it would affect implementation of policies on which they have different positions.

But hey, no one expects the most hard-hitting coverage on Sundays. Thanks for posting.

Considering that Hillary and Barack have almost no significant policy differences, I don't think that would be a problem. But you're probably right about this idea being just a little too "creative" for most people to get their heads around. I admit to being a sucker for stuff that's a little "out there." I certainly understand that not everyone shares my point of view. I think what I was really trying to encourage is some way of ending all this insane in-fighting we're engaged in right now. We have to find some way to keep BOTH Hillary's supporters AND Barack's supporters. Personally, I'd be interested in almost any idea that moved us in that direction.
