I Choose You (But I Don't Choose the News Cycle): The Obama News Quiz!

It's quiz time! With all this Obama news in the past few weeks, which story will have the most staying power/importance in the battle of good versus evil (stories):

A) Richardson endorsement - count Bill Richardson out for the VP spot in a (potential second) Clinton White House. As was widely reported on Friday, the New Mexico Governor was the latest high profile superdelegate to endorse Obama.

B) Wright's sermon - There was another endorsement for Obama - one he didn't want - which came from the Reverend Jeremiah Wright about a week ago, in the form of video footage of an impassioned sermon on race and the 2008 Presidential contest. Obama's speech on race this past week dulled the negative impact, but analysts are still talking.

C) Passportgate - over the weekend, we found out that Obama had his passport file at the State Department breached. While we later found out that Hillary and McCain also had their files violated, Obama's was breached on three seperate occasions, as opposed to once each for his Democratic and Republican rivals.

D) A combination of two or more of these stories working in concert.

Bonus question: with all the focus on Obama, is no news good news for Hillary?

Good luck!

Re: I Choose You (2.00 / 2)

Yes no news is good news for Hillary by the law of exclusion. Because the moment, this media gets some free time, some like MSNBC will start focusing on something trivial from Clinton campaign and use it to create a story of how it is hurting our poor Barack.

They love showing Obama the victim. Let him be the victim while Hillary impresses people in Indiana and North Carolina and PA.

He must lose all three if we want to avoid President McCain.

Y'know... (none / 0)

... Hillary was always going to lose the General.

Look at how well she's handled the primary.

You left out the one thing that will stick: the reaction to Obama's talk on Tuesday.

Re: I Choose You (But I Don't Choose the News Cycl (2.00 / 1)

"I should have added however, how there has been less and less interest in HRC in terms of news stories/press coverage in the past week."

That's certainly been true for some time.  MSM has been working hard to end her candidacy.  It's become rare for them to allow people to see her rallies or speeches anymore.  But if you dig deeper and look at how the local media is responding to her in the places where she is campaigning, that is going very strong.

So, what I suspect there will be a pronounced shift in media coverage beginning on April 15 and ending April 22.  If she performs decisively at the debate and wins PA by 15%+, the media will fall in love with the story of her resilliance and the growing anxiety in the Obama camp.  And the question of Wright will be raised during the debate, so it will play out again at that time.  If she doesn't deliver a decisive performance in both the debate and the primary, the media will decide they are officially bored of her.

Note that none of this will have anything to do with such banal subjects as: who has the better healthcare plan, who is actually taking action to keep people in their homes, and things of that nature.  It will be entirely driven by the Obama campaigns continued attempts at character assassination and whether or not Hillary makes an interesting story to them.
