What Did Obama Know, and When Did He Know it?

It's sort of a paradox that Reverend Jeremiah Wright disappeared as soon as he became famous.

If he gave a few interviews, maybe he could answer some specific questions that the mainstream media and the blogs have somehow forgotten to ask Barack Obama.

What did Barack Obama know about the "God damn America!" sermon and when did he know it?

So far Mr. Obama is very, very vague about what he knew. There were some "controversial" sermons, and some "inflammatory" sermons, and now that Obama has finally heard about them, he "vehemently disagrees." But nobody is asking specific questions about what and when, and Mr. Obama isn't volunteering any specific information.

So maybe if Jeremiah Wright came out of hiding and gave a few interviews, he could expand the discussion beyond the usual platitudes and excuses.

What did Barack Obama know about the "God damn America!" sermon, and when did he know it?

He took a cruise. Yeah right. Did he go with Obama's Grandmother she disappered as well. That would be two peole the MSM should interview at length.

Give it a rest with these pathetic 'gotcha' games.  What did Clinton know about Vince Foster's suicide, and when did she know it?  Cattle futures?  Whitewater land deals?  It's fun to ask so many rhetorical questions.

I don't care and I can't imagine many people do.

This is not Watergate, bub.

Actually people do care. Get off the Obama blogs and talk to some people. People are talking about it all over the place.

So... have you yet watched that entire sermon? Just curious. I'm sure you did, in the interest of fairness, and aren't basing your knowledge from the five-second soundbyte played on the news. Right?

So, what'd you think about the context?

Context? (2.00 / 1)

I have watched videos of numerous sermons by Jeremiah Wright, and read other texts and interviews, and there is still no context that makes "God damn America!" sound any better.

Re: Context? (2.00 / 1)

So, by "Yes," you mean "no", right?

By "Yes" I mean "Yes." (none / 0)

Jeremiah Wright's litany about the government giving drugs to black people, building bigger prisons, and passing three strikes laws doesn't make it sound any better when he curses his own country.

So let me ask you the same question Jeremiah Wright asked Sean Hannity.

How many books by Wright's mentor James Cone have you read? Did you read Black Theology and Black Power, where Cone claims that "While it is true that blacks do hate whites, black hatred is not racism." [p. 14-16]

That's part of the real context of Wright's sermons that Obama's friends want to forget.

ragekage should post a link. (none / 0)

If you have a link to the full sermon, post it. I listened to the fullest version I could find, and the context for a couple of minutes on either side of the money quote is raving about the government selling crack in the ghettos, and the rest of Wright's paranoid fantasy structure.

Many you think paranoia is a context that makes Wright sound better when he screams "God damn America!" but I can't agree.

It's on CNN. Roland Martin did a thorough dissection and examination of the entire speech.

You claim the New Testament is a context for hate? (1.00 / 1)

Now you're really on the same wavelength as Jeremiah Wright and James Cone.

"What we need is the divine love as expressed in black power, which is the power of blacks to destroy their oppressors, here and now, by any means at their disposal." [A Black Theology of Liberation, p. 70]

It isn't an observation, it's a curse. (1.00 / 1)

When Wright screams "God damn America!" he isn't making an observation about what God may or may not be doing, as "new account" claims.

Wright is exhorting God to damn America.

Another way to say it is that Wright is cursing his own country.

And he is also urging his own congregation to sing "God damn America!" to the tune of "God Bless America!"

Maybe there's another YouTube video out there with this uplifting song on it.

I'm sure Obama's disciples could explain it away with "context."

I cant find the diary that said a HRC supporter owned the company that did the passport breach

but if you are out there I wanted to let you know I heard this and see if you can confirm

"The article said a focal point of the probe will be an employee who works for The Analysis Corporation and is still with the company. The firm is headed by John O. Brennan, an Obama adviser. The Times reported he advises the Democratic presidential candidate on intelligence and foreign policy matters.

"The Times reported that the employee at TAC is the only individual who accessed both Obama's and John McCain's passport information. TAC decided to honor a State Department request to delay firing the consultant to give investigators time to conduct their investigation, the company said."

Really.... who cares? (2.00 / 1)

So minor in the scope of things. Let's focus on the issues that really matter, like a big win in PA.
