Reuters: Obama Natl. Lead Evaporates [VIDEO]

From a Reuters/Zogby poll released today:

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama's big national lead over Hillary Clinton has all but evaporated in the U.S. presidential race, and both Democrats trail Republican John McCain, according a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

The poll showed Obama had only a statistically insignificant lead of 47 percent to 44 percent over Clinton, down sharply from a 14 point edge he held over her in February when he was riding the tide of 10 straight victories.

Careful - He is the Nominee (1.66 / 3)

Don't be so quick to dance on his grave because it is the Democratic Party's grave too.

I don't think anybody's dancing on his grave, especially since he still IS leading. :)

But point well taken.

WHY oh WHY are we still citing Zogby after California? After Massachusetts? After Ohio? After Texas?

Elections 101 is very clear. It states that the delegate count selects the nominee. So unless the poll you mentioned has changed that count, your headline is wishful but, in fact, completely erroneous.

However, do please let me know when Senator Clinton takes the lead in actual delegates. I'll be happy to congratulate the Senator from New York at that time.

I wouldn't be so smug if I were you.  In any case, we seem to be on the verge of losing the WH to an inferior Republican candidate, no matter who we put up.  That is the real issue at this point...

It wasn't my attention to be smug, only factual. There are 20 polls out every say showing the ebb and flow of the current evaluation of the candidates.

All I did was draw attention to the fact that polls don't elect candidates, delegates do. And, excuse me, your diary made zero mention of the polls effect upon the final election. Perhaps you should have told us that's what the purpose of the diary was about. Silly me, I presumed you were a Clinton supporter who was celebrating. Of course, that might have been a smug attitude while trailing so badly and I know you're above smugness.

While that may be...the SDs were created for just this situation.

Ha. (none / 0)

It's a polling blip, and meanwhile, the voices calling for Hillabee McClinton to withdraw are getting louder.

Meanwhile, The New York Times has released her WH schedule, and finds this:

The documents offer no support for her claims, made during the presidential campaign, that she helped to negotiate the Irish peace accords or facilitated the flow of refugees in the Balkans. Neither is there evidence in them to back up her claim that she helped pass the Family and Medical Leave Act, the first legislation Mr. Clinton signed as president.

There's far more, including documentary proof that many of her claims about experience that ultimately underlie her campaign are false.

So no, there's no reason to be worried about Barack Obama. McBush and McClinton have been hitting him with everything they have, and he's still standing.
