Natl. Polls Trend Down for BHO (2) GRAPH

I reported yesterday in this myDD diary that national polling demonstrates a markedly downward trend for Barack Obama on several levels.  I also provided a Survey USA report card of pollsters in this election year.

Gallup and Rasmussen tracking polls both report today that the downward trend for Obama continues.

In Gallup, Obama drops another point.

Link here.

Given that this is a tracking poll that rolls nightly results into a 3-day average, a 1-point change has significance.  Gallup reports that "Clinton had a significant lead in Monday night interviewing."

Gallup's results shows a net 9-point drop for Obama in the past 5 days.

Rasmussen's 7-day tracking poll also shows a drop of another point for Obama (O45:C44).  This represents a 5-point drop in 4 days for Obama while Clinton has gained 2 points, resulting in a net 7-point decline for Obama in only four days.

Link here.

Rasmussen also reports that Obama's unfavorable rating is now 49%.  Rasmussen says:

The Illinois Senator is viewed favorably today by just 48% of voters nationwide (see recent daily results). The number with an unfavorable view of Obama has grown to 49%. Obama's overall favorable ratings peaked at 56% on February 21 and have declined modestly since that time. While Obama tries to move beyond discussions of race, he is viewed favorably by 83% of African-Americans and by 42% among White voters.

An interesting graph showing favorability trends of Clinton, Obama, and McCain for the past month was developed and presented by another myDD diarist yesterday.  That link is here.

I will update this weekend...it is pointless to update everyday (I am a genuinely lazy guy!)

In a few days he will go right up. HRC is still 170 behind in pledged delgates and the Florida door is now shut.

what does that have to do with a poll? (2.00 / 2)

People either like the guy or not.  Hillary's delegate situation is not what brough the numbers down and its not what would bring them back up.

I actually think that the DNA-like stranding of the neck and neck charts stops here and Obama will permanently be trailing Clinton.

We should be looking at the numbers after today's speech .

Listen, I support Clinton, but looking at the polls today, it is clear this is not having the dramatic "death to Obama's campaign" effect many Clinton supporters had thought would happen. Obama will be back on top the polls in due time. If this is going to have any effect, it will be in the general election, if he is the nominee.

Collapses and Boils (2.00 / 1)

Obama's downfall is looking more like a low heat  simmer and not a flashy and dramatic drop (like Spitzer) but nevertheless this one might stick because there are no CAUCUSES or primaries to boost his image back up for a LONG, LONG time.

And then on April 22nd, things may only take a turn for the worse for him.  The Math people will continue to pound us over the head with their calculators in the meantime -- I understand.

Perhaps a more relevant place to see this trend play out is in the remaining states.  See new PPP poll today for Pennsylvania showing a 26 pt. lead for HRC.

The only place I see a trend downward for Obama is in his favorability rating, which was a net positive and is now a net negative. It is also affected his standing against McCain, but in the Democratic primary, little has changed. Clinton is leading in PA and has always lead in PA, so the 26% lead is not surprising.

And thank you for the link (although it also means I am now obliged to update the graph every so often)

John McCain's advisor Hagee. His friend and supporter called the Catholics, ''son of whores''.
Unless he denounces, I will work every day till the general to spoil McCain's chances.

Re: Natl. Polls Trend Down for BHO (2) GRAPH (none / 0)

It is a dramatic drop and will continue with the Wright controversy hanging over him from now until the convention. Of course the Obama faithful will tell you its all about nothing, which is their 'slogun' reply to anything negative about him.
