Obama, Clinton, racism, sexism the blogosphere and more

I am writing this while still blurry eyed.

After reading many of the diaries here last night and the writers strike diary here and at dkos, I have so many thoughts screaming through my head. I may not do justice to my feelings with the words that I write, but here is goes anyway.

First off, I agree emphatically with the sentiment and frustration of the Writers Strike at Dkos diary. Dkos has become a place that even annoys me and I am one who pushes people to use it. It is the biggest and used to be the best. Markos has allowed his blog home to become a thin shell of itself and that is sad.

My initial comment at the writers strike diary was this:

Fucking A! Yes!

Way to go! You hit a nerve! You hit a JACKPOT!

I blame the shit going on at dkos on KOS... MARKOS.. himself! He did it, he fed it and he fertilized it!

I was and still am a supporter of posting at dkos simply because they are the big dog, but I find that I am going there less and less and feeling less stress.

My main blogs now are Mydd, EENR and WashingtonWoman.

Did I say WOOOOHOOOO!!!!! yet?   :)

You did an AWESOME JOB with this diary!

HOW did it get on the rec list at dkos?!

I guess there are a lot more lurkers or a lot more supporters of all sides that feel the same!

I wonder if Markos will address this diary and IF he will back off what he has been doing.

I have not seen him  on the TV machine in a looong time. Id his star fading? if so.... IT IS HIS OWN FAULT!!!

I wrote that after being gone all day and night. Also after drinking a few beers. I may have written it a little differently had I wrote it now but the sentiment would still be the same.

More below...

Second, (every time I do this first, second, etc. stuff I think of Obama and his "point number one", etc. stuff.)

So... Second,

All of the supporters for BOTH sides, at Dkos and here at MyDD, really need to cool off a bit. The constant attacking of each other and the candidates is getting way out of hand.

The race crap from BOTH sides is absolute NONSENSE and really needs to STOP! Hillary Clinton IS NOT a racist! Barack Obama IS NOT a racist! What their supporters do and say can reflect on the candidates, but how much is dependent on how they react to it and how the MSM and the NETROOTS responds to it! Race baiting is not exclusive to whites towards blacks, it works BOTH ways!

The sexist crap has also got to STOP! The first thing I thought of while listening to Obama's pastor was that he is an idiot! He may know what it is like to be a black man and the struggles that go with being a black man but does he know ANYTHING about the struggles of WOMEN of ALL races in the USA and around the world? He dismisses Hillary Clinton like she is a little "girl"! Does he realize that women HAVE had cabs rush past them? Does he realize that almost all women hold a constant fear within themselves of being raped, beaten and killed simply because they are WOMEN?

I could go on and on with my thoughts on this, but I will not for now.

Hillary and Barack are NOT SEXIST and they should BOTH denounce sexist crap from everyone!

Sexism and racism are the two worst things in this country and around the world! It is double trouble if you are a woman of color in this country and many others.

I will end this diary with a link to a comment thread between myself and "ill" last night. Once again, I wrote these comments in the same state that I wrote to quoted comment above.

Third... My last thoughts (ok, I had a little more to say).

WHEN will we start pulling the tax exempt status of ALL churches that delve into politics? What this pastor/reverend was ranting about from the pulpit was definitely political and definitely in support of ONE candidate. This is or should be against the law!

Maybe we should ALL refocus our energy and remember what is real and what is important.

If you or any other Progressive/Democrat/Liberal chooses not to vote, vote third party, write in a candidate or worse... vote for mcain... the it is YOU or that other person that IS To Blame for MORE of the SAME gdub/rove/neocon BULLSHIT!
If you are a repub trolling here at MyDD as a fake supporter of a candidate, then I ask you to leave now.

I leave you with a little music from a Great and Peaceful man. His name is Michael Franti. Enjoy.

Well... (2.00 / 2)

That was a little longer than I expected it to be. I hope my blurry eyes did not make a mess of things.   :)

Peace.

Re: I was starting to wonder (2.00 / 3)

No, but people will probably be rude even about this diary, simply because you don't hate Hillary Clinton and because you don't approve of every word that came out of Wright's mouth. (Personally, I mainly took offense at Bill/Monica. I didn't even know what to make of the rest of it.)

Also, if you're white, you are despicable (apparently). No joke. I've got someone in another thread "blaming me because I'm not black." I sh*t you not. I'm so angry right now I can't even think straight. Apparently, my defense of comments I disagree with means nothing. There's little difference between how I'm treated around here and how a racist is treated. I'm white, so I'm inherently blameworthy. Not sure for what. Everything, I guess.

God I'm pissed. It's hard to remember that it'll be important to support Obama in the fall when his supporters try to turn me into an ignorant racist. I'm losing perspective.

New Hampster, posted a reflective diary today too. I think we are all searching right now. Thanks, recommended.

Re: Obama, Clinton, racism, sexism the blogosphere (2.00 / 1)

I will vote for either Barack or Hillary or both after the Democratic Convention. However, I cannot get too excited about them because I see them both trimming their sails and tacking this way and that a bit to satisfy their corporate sponsors. I felt very let down watching Edwards get forced out by the media. I am hoping to be enthusiastic by their VP picks and would also be very excited if they pick each other.

Instead, I'm also focusing on regional candidates such as Andrew Rice, who is running for the U.S. Senate in Oklahoma. His opponent is incumbent Republican Senatory James Inhofe, a total captive of the energy interests and in denial over global warming.

Agreed (2.00 / 1)

I'm sure this is a really late reply, but I very much appreciate and support your views vis-a-vis the racism and sexism arguments. I don't agree with the strike, but I understand it and support Alegre's right to do it.

The attacking is out of hand, no question. I'd like to see discussion/arguments about real issues: health care, the economy, Iraq, Iran, ethics reform, growing the party, etc., instead of the nonsense that passes for issues these days.
