The Google Primary: Obama vs Clinton

HRC will win PA, and NC too....at least according to Mr Google

Compare the site traffic for their respective websties over the past 12 months

http://www.google.com/trends?q=Barack+Ob ama%2C+Hillary+Clinton&ctab=0&ge o=US&geor=all&date=ytd&sort= 0

Note that in recent history (i.e., after Iowa), www.BarackObama.com consistently gets more hits than www.hillaryclinton.com  This is consistent with his frontrunner status, and also with his support profile (younger people tend to be more internet savvy than AARP types etc.).

Now look at PA and NC and IN

Traffic to HRC's website had slowed down in Feb (when she was probably given for dead), but is picking up again.

http://www.google.com/trends?q=Barack+Ob ama%2C+Hillary+Clinton&ctab=0&ge o=US&geor=usa.pa&date=ytd&so rt=0

http://www.google.com/trends?q=Barack+Ob ama%2C+Hillary+Clinton&ctab=0&ge o=US&geor=usa.nc&date=ytd&so rt=0

http://www.google.com/trends?q=Barack+Ob ama%2C+Hillary+Clinton&ctab=0&ge o=US&geor=usa.in&date=ytd&so rt=0

It seems like interest in the www.hillaryclinton.com website has really picked up in PA and NC.

If you take this data point, and cover one eye, and then look at the data point until your mind starts to wander, and humm hamunahamunahamuna* over and over again...

why then, you will conclude that HRC wins PA and NC by a landslide (or maybe by a whisker, or maybe she loses them both...or maybe we will all learn to live together)

As an aside, results from Alexa are somewhat different.  But most people do not care too much about the Alexa primary, so I did not include that here.

One really ominous note for Barack Obama: traffic to his website seems to be largely coming from African Americans, whereas traffic to HRC's website is coming from a very broad range of people

http://www.quantcast.com/barackobama.com /demographics
http://www.quantcast.com/hillaryclinton. com/demographics

And finally, www.barackobama.com seems to be better designed and implemented technically than www.hillaryclinton.com (young IT types vs AARP types at play again, perhaps), at least according to SlashDot (and slashdot is never wrong)

http://politics.slashdot.org/article.pl? sid=08/02/02/1641211

*PS: Instead of humming hamunahamunahamuna, you can humm any other humm that you like... as long as you humm with full faith!!

It may also be because he doesn't ... (none / 0)

Obama ISN'T making his positions CLEAR, so people feel they need to go and TRY to figure them out from his web site. Ive done that quite a few times. Good luck.

I know fluff when I see it. He avoids specifics.

Universal healthcare IS a core Democratic value
Without a REAL committment to it, we WON'T win in November.

They only one throwing around empty and insulting rhetoric around here is you. It is disrespectful to any Obama supporter who cares about the issues and decided that he likes Obama's stance better and it will not convince anybody to change sides. The only thing it does is to strengthen the meme that some Obama haters on this site try to push.

I don't see how this will help Hillary in any way and I don't see how this will help the Democratic nominee in any way. So stop it or tell us exactly what more you want to know. This is just rhetoric from your part, not Obama's.

marcotom, you have lost it!! (none / 0)

this is supposed to be a fun diary...

you know how it works: (a) you read the diary, you are somewhat amused..hopefully (b) you make a funny remark, hopefully it lowers your blood pressure in the process (c) someone makes a funny retort to your funny remark...your blood pressure goes down even more.

If you want to start another he said/she said argument, then please start it elsewhere (I may even come join you there)

Re: The Google Primary: Obama vs Clinton (none / 0)

Remember, Hillary needs 57% of all remaining pledged and super delegates in order to win the nomination.

That means in order to maintain that 57% requirement, she must win no fewer than 90 of the 158 delegates up for grabs in PA. Anything less, and the requirement becomes higher.

That's a monumental tsunami of a landslide vitory as she'll need to do at least 65% of the popular vote to achieve those numbers.

Then, it's on to North Carolina where she will require 66 out of 115 to maintian the requirement that she win 57% of all reamianing delegates in order to win the nomination.

Every time she fails to meet the 57% of delegates up for grabs threshhold, the bar raises.

All Obama needs at this time is 43% of all remaining delegates to win the nominaiton (2025 delegates total).

Bill Foster would agree, Barack Obama has coat tails.

Re: The Google Primary: Obama vs Clinton (2.00 / 1)

I read somewhere that only 3 people use yahoo these days.

I am honored that I have met one !  Now, do you know where I can find the other 2 ?

"ominous note" (none / 0)

Do black people on the web scare you?</snark>

Numerically Obama and Hillary are getting the same of white visits (how to they get that data anyway). Obama's black number is just so huge it make the chart look out of balance. Maybe that got skewed because of the recent Miss. primary.

Re: "ominous note" (none / 0)

"Do black people on the web scare you?</snark>"

I guess you can call me a racist for implying that.  That would be consistent with recent standards !! </snark>

The way I see it...Obama is getting 3x as many visits as Clinton, but Obama's numbers are predominantly from blacks (341% of normal average), and not as much from whites, asians and latinos (84%, 29%, and 34%, respectively).  Clinton's visitors are much more broadbased.

Yes, Obama's white visitors are only marginally lower than Clintons (84% vs 103%), but he has a big problem with asians (29% vs 99%) and latinos (34% vs 72%).

I would say the traffic is consistent with his support demographics: blacks and upscale whites !

And I have no idea how they get those numbers...good question though!  I am sure it is 110% reliable, however !!!
