Global Leader

Like it or not the United States is considered a global player and in some minds a global leader. Senator Obama has reminded the global public as to why they admire Americans. President George W Bush has of course reminded us as to why we love to hate Americans.

Senator Obama is playing a totally different game from his rivals? What will it symbolize to the planet if a Black man is elected to the highest office?  Why has Senator Obama created so much excitement globally? Like it or not we are not just electing a president of the United States but a person who will have great influence and the momentum to change the planet. To elect Senator Obama would be telling the world we still have a dream, we are still optimists, and we are still a wonderful country with amazing people who want to help our brothers and sisters. Senator Obama is breaking the color barrier because it isn't about color it's about great ideas and the courage to dream
again without fear.

And electing a woman would not send the same message?

Re: Global Leader (none / 0)

Thank you for your comment. Yes you are right.
Electing a woman would be sending a great message.
I just think that Obama inspires more people in the U.S. and around the planet. (this could be my own bias I admit) I connect more with Obama than Senator Clinton.  I also think because of the way black people came to this continent it would have more impact and more meaning. I wish you my best and if we elect a woman I would happy to know that we have evolved. Cheers

Re: Global Leader (none / 0)

Honestly, if we have a President Obama, I strongly believe he's a one-termer and in 4 years, we end up with President Romney or President Huckabee.

Re: Global Leader (none / 0)

No, not global greatness...

UNIVERSAL greatness! He will craft Thor's hammer with his bare hands and strike down all the world's injustices. He will be able to strike as firmly as necessary, and he will never miss his mark. I've heard Mjolnir can be shrunk small enough to fit inside a suit. Mayhap Obama is already in possession of it... We MUST elect this man. No one else has the power to change the planet AND the universe. NO ONE!

Re: Global Leader (none / 0)

Thank you for your comment because it reflects your candidates cynical attitude. I agree Senator Obama is not a god or perfect but he is inspiring more people here in the U.S. and abroad. If he is elected I believe we will have enough momentum to really make some changes. Will my dream be shattered? could be but I would rather feel hope than cynical. If we look at President Kennedy he was far from perfect and not the god some people have made him out to be. Martin Luther King again wasn't perfect and perfectly mortal but he inspires people to this day. In my Opinion Hilliary is an amazing person but I think compared to Obama she's out of her league. We need leaders who inspire rather than mock. Let's look at it a different way. President George W Bush has had a great impact but in a negative, and criminal way. He's not Thor but look at what he's done. to the planet, to Iraqi civilians,
and to the Economy. You don't have to be Thor to have a great impact. P.S. I love wine, and lattes.
Thank you for your point of view. Don't be afraid to dream again I know there are so many reasons to be cynical but we can't give up. We are better than that.

Why can't Obama supporters (none / 0)

take a JOKE? I mean, why do you people take everything so seriously? I say something in a joking way that isn't meant to be "cynical" at all, and you start rambling about presidents and inspirational figures. I think Obama's ability to inspire is a great thing, and I'm glad so many people have found something to believe in. I can't even begin to imagine why you're talking about Bush and dreams.

For the good of everyone, please calm down a little. Not everything is meant as an attack on your candidate. I just don't understand why everyone around here jumps to their candidate's defense every time anyone makes a silly crack about anything.

Please drink fewer lattes and a little more wine, and try to relax a little. I recommend a dry red. Rarely goes wrong.

I'm honestly not trying to be rude, but I'm a little exasperated -- not with you so much as with everything. Everyone is hypersensitive around here, and we're all constantly misinterpreting each others' words. Maybe the Internet's just a crappy way to communicate with people.

Re: Why can't Obama supporters (none / 0)

The reason I took your comment sooooo seriously is because Senator Hillary Clinton said the same thing as you did not as a joke about two weeks ago. If I remember right she said the heavens would open up and everything woud turn out perfect for an Obama administration she went on on in a mocking way and I mistakingly thought you were doing the same thing. I apoligize for misinterpreting your joke. I will take your advice and try some red wine. Cheers
