MyDD Poetry Jam

Last week a diarist put up An Ode to Clinton's Narcissism. Setrak had the great idea that everyone should respond in poetry. I'm attempting to resurrect that idea. Here were my two entries into that thread:

1.

Ever since I was ten I've wanted to say
A woman is president, not tomorrow but today.
In all of her brilliance, in all of her passion,
Clinton is claiming that role in fervent fashion.

The Obama campaign is little but smoke,
The silver tongued orater is starting to choke.
Keep him out of the White House, keep him off of
  its lawn.
Send him back to the Senate, gone baby, gone.

2.
The Ballad of Obama

As told by himself.....Naturally:

There once was a man with an ego so wide
He believed he was Jesus himself.
"I'll be your savior, I'm the one for you!
Take your dreams off the shelf.
Though I can't speak so well without something
   written for me
and I have not much experience to boot,
you'll vote for me, sing for me, shout for me,
   moan for me,
cuz I'm eloquesnt and just so damn cute.
Don't ask me specifics, because I don't have
   too many,
and hey! what about my funny staff!
With NAFTAgate, MONSTERgate, REZKOgate,
   MICHELLEgate,
I'm sure you'll agree it's a laugh.
I tell you I'm putting the gloves on
but the truth is they've been on all the time.
I've been trying to smear, I've been trying to
   damage,
Oh, I'm well acquainted with grime.
I follow the Rovian playbook, I echo the
   footsteps of Starr's wronging.
If someone has audacity to question me
I smile and say, 'Shucks, you're racist and fear
   mongering.'
It's all about winning and I invite the Repubs
to be a Dem for a day.
Pay no attention to the stuff in the caucuses,
that's just my young thugs at play.
They'll say anything, do anything just as I tell
   them
to get me the very last vote.
To hell with the legal stuff, I am the Savior.
Shit, what's all this water filling my boat?"

Please make your comments in poetry (or something resembling it).

Wimp Love (none / 0)

is good at desire, but unsustainable
as the most ferocious bonfire.
You have to die down with it
before nightfall, to be willing
to consign yourself to a hiatus of
roseate ashes. Like anything unsure
of its worth, it glamorizes itself by
scorching whatever it touches
with passionate invitation, then
as it falls into a love-sick coma, flashes
its Amnesiac Diploma.
