Foster, issue-oriented = victory for Dems

Bill Foster:

People on both sides should take the message that we want people who are less divisive, less ideological and more problem-solving.

Bill Foster's victory in the gerimandered Republican 14th Congressional District sends the message that this looks like a huge year for the Democrats. If "tax-and-spend Democrat" are the best attack ads the Republicans can come up with, and all they can come up with are attack ads . . . ? Wow!

Democrats are the party proposing solutions. Imperfect solutions but at least we're offering the voters something. What's happening among voters, I think, is a "'what the heck' the Dems aren't perfect but at least they're offering us real solutions" attitude. The Republicans offer nothing except tired, very tired, attack ads. I mean Foster's opponent, Jim Oberweiss, his 'solution' to the health care crisis is killing off malpractice law suits? The Republicans are in very bad shape right now.

Savor this victory, Democrats, whether you're a Hillbot or Obamamaniac. The only thing that can prevent a big November victory for the Democrats are . . . well, I can't think of any.

More analysis here:

Hastert seat loss, Foster win, big blow to GOP:

Foster keyed on a direct issue-oriented message, playing to a war-weary public and fears about the troubled economy while embracing an expansion of health care and an immigration-reform package that included a path to citizenship -- important in a district with large numbers of undocumented immigrants. . . .

In addition to the negativity of the contest, some Republicans said they fielded complaints from voters who reported receiving more than a dozen automated calls from the Oberweis campaign as well as countless mailings, which they contended did little to motivate people to vote in a Saturday election, let alone vote for the GOP contender.

Pelosi is exstatic about this win.

Pelosi should clear celebrate (none / 0)

by clearing the junk off that table so that there is room to put impeachment back on it.

The heartland of America sends Foster to Congress to tell the Democrats that they have nothing to fear.  Put a stop to the tyranny in the White House and the America will be on your side.

Re: Foster, issue-oriented = victory for Dems (none / 0)

Yes both hillary fans and Obama fans should be happy BUT Foster himself at his victory party credited Obama's coat tails with his win.

If Foster said he won due to Obama coat tails we should look at that.

Re: Foster, issue-oriented = victory for Dems (none / 0)

Foster is an Illinois Demo politician, and an Obama supporter. The following fact speaks for itself: Foster was ahead before Obama's ad and after.

The Republicans also ran a terrible candidate, Foster's money supply and calm, moderate, issues-oriented approach were excellent, and so on.

Re: Foster, issue-oriented = victory for Dems (none / 0)

With Foster's win in IL, we should be blogging and spreading the word of it in this context:  Obama has coat tails.  He actively supported and campaigned for Foster, and the result was a whippin' and a regain of DENNY HASTERYS seat.

Spread it!

Reminder...another narrative to share with everyone is the magic happens that occured on Friday night... check it out:

No Robo call my friends.

As you might recall, my twin brother has cancer that he may not recover from. I set up a personal fundraising page in his honor to support Barack...who gives Steve HOPE. The local air-america morning guy, lee rayburn, saw my email regaring Steve's cancer and the page I set up ...and mentioned it on the air. Here's the website of Rayburn:

http://www.themic921.com/pages/leeRaybur n.html

Anyway...a old friend of ours heard about it over the air, and SHE has a sister who knows Barack's personal assistant... long story short..I sent contact info, and at exactly 7:38 p.m. Friday night Barack made time (though he was busily campaigning in WY) to call a very sick man who has dedicated as much of his remaining energy as he can to his campaign.

It is that compassion, wisdom, and connectivity to the common man that makes Barack the choice for ALL of us. It was a thrill, and a touching moment for me personally, and it was great to hear Barack say to steve that Steve's fight embodies the very best of his own campaign. Go to my donation page and please donate for Steve and Barack, and continue to pray for Steve and Barack!

Please also go to my fundraising page that honors Steve and helps Obama at the same time.

Re: Foster, issue-oriented = victory for Dems (none / 0)

Nearly every news outlet has correctly stated Fosters win was largely thanks to Obama coattails.

Which is good news for the super delegates to see.

Re: Foster, issue-oriented = victory for Dems (none / 0)

News outlets in the know know that an issues-oriented, well-funded, moderate campaign won the election for Foster. BTW, Foster was winning before Obama's ad entered the scene.

Finally, give 'credit' to the Republicans: their last-minute hit-piece ads were terrible, substance-less crap.

Try as much as you like, you can never remove the Obama Coat Tails factor from this race.

Even Foster himself gives Obama's coat tails credit.

Wow, an Obama supporter credits Obama so it must be true.

And to rub salt in the GOP wounds, Dixon, IL is in the boundaries of the IL-14 district.

It's also the birth place of Ronald Reagan!
