Vote for the BEST Candidate! Gender shouldn't be considered

I'm sick and tired of people only voting for Hillary because she is woman!!! This is outrageous! This a VERY immature, and stupid thing to do!! Gender SHOULDN't be an issue. Come on people, this is ridiculous. Let's all grow up, and vote for the person who is the most honest, and who will unite this country. That person is Barack Obama.

Don't worry, I'm not considering gender.  I'm voting with my brain.  That's why I'm male and supporting Hillary.

Re: Vote for the BEST Candidate! (2.00 / 2)

Hmm, wonder why Hillary's base is far more racially and religiously diverse then.

Race shouldn't be an issue, either, but you aren't complaining about 80% of blacks voting for Obama.

I'm not voting race or gender (none / 0)

I support Obama because he is the wisest candidate and the one who hasn't taken corporate PAC money.

Re: I'm not voting race or gender (none / 0)

Corporate lobbyists and PACs funded Obama's political career - until 2007.

Why are ObamaBots so UNinformed??

He has not taken corporate PAC (none / 0)

money in this election.  Like Edwards he saw that it was bad for the process and stopped it.  He's clear about that - I know it.  Hillary had a fund raiser at Monsanto HQ.  Hillary is embracing the corrupt politics of corporate money - she doesn't see how its corrupting our politics.

Your insults reflect poorly on you argument.

Re: He has not taken corporate PAC (none / 0)

Ahh....Obama stopped taking lobbyists money during his CURRENT campaign.
But he was accepting their donations WHILE he was promoting "lobbyist reform."
And yet - Obamabots criticized Edwards for making proposals that conflicted with his beliefs 8 years ago.

Re: Vote for the BEST Candidate! Gender shouldn't (2.00 / 2)

you've posted two diaries in a row, each based in a false premise. one that people are saying that obama will lose this weekend: that is demonstrably false, everyone knows this will be a good weekend for him. two that people are saying vote for a woman because she's a woman: again, do you have quote to support that falsehood? I have nowhere seen that assertion.

i'm (a male) supporting hillary because she's by far the best qualified candidate. and it's not even close. a couple of years in the IL state senate does not a president make.

by CalDem on Sat Feb 09, 2008 at 02:00:03 PM EST

Don't worry about me either (2.00 / 3)

I'm a woman voting for Hillary because she would make the best president in 2009.  Am I glad that in addition to that, she is a woman?  You bet!!!

Ask me again when we are out of Iraq and the country is back on track.  I will be all for Obama then. He is just not ready now.

I did not support Elizabeth Dole when she ran.  I won't vote for a woman who does not share my values.

And by the way, who are you to tell anyone what the acceptable reasons are for voting?  Obama supporters telling Hillary supporters they are immature - that is rich.

Re: Vote for the BEST Candidate! Gender shouldn't (2.00 / 2)

Didn't yellowdem say this same thing about African-Americans and Obama and get chewed out for it?  How very sexist to assume that women vote for Clinton just because she's a woman.

So (none / 0)

Do you think there are people that are voting for Obama simply because he is black?

I think you are being silly in your statement.

Yes it should be the most qualified. That is John Edwards and then Hillary Clinton.

Race shouldn't be considered either (none / 0)

but Obama allowed Oprah to tell blacks how to vote - for THE ONE.
The Black One.

Hillary the one who had a fund raiser at Monsanto corporate HQ.  The one who has taken more corporate PAC money than anyone.  The one who will NOT work for progressive causes other than to give lip service to them.

Re: Vote for the BEST Candidate! Gender shouldn't (none / 0)

Is this the most important issue to you?  I'd personally like to see the economy come back from recession, and PAC money doesn't worry me one bit.  That's how the system has been until someone decided that this was suddenly a bad thing; it's politics.  Idealism about these things is cute, but we live in the real world and nothing is going to make lobbyists go away.

Its very sad (none / 0)

that you have given into the corporations.  Democracy is about people not corporations.  The economy is a wreck because corporations are lobbying for war money and stopping investments in alternative energy.

This is the most important issue - its sad that you don't see it.

Re: Its very sad (none / 0)

First of all, inflation is ridiculous and the housing crisis is only making things worse.  That's predatory loan companies, not war money.  Then there's the fact oil prices are so high, which may be due in part to oil companies bumping prices up, but it's made worse by oil taxes and political strife in the Middle East.  That's still not war money; it's against oil companies' collective interest for political strife to continue and threaten their profits.

Clinton has offered a stimulus package that emphasizes fixing American infrastructure and green collar jobs; what part of that did you miss?

It's sad that you can't see the world for what it is - shades of gray.  I supposed it's easier to buy into the idea that world is black and white when unity gets pushed forward all the time.
