Bush Tacitly Endorses Obama

In a bizarre twist of fate, Bush has apparently decided to covertly endorse Obama. How did he do this? By saying that meeting with leaders of adversial countries "can send the wrong signal." http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la- na-bush29feb29,0,2240873.story

While some might perceive this as a dig at Obama, this is in fact a tacit endorsement, since even someone as out of touch with reality as Bush must understand that, between Iraq and his current 19% approval rating, his criticisms of Obama's proposed foreign policy can only make these policies seem better. Perhaps he could have gone father: "Y'all like Iraq? This Alabama fella won't bring you anything like it."

Were I McCain, I would politely ask the president to stop killing me with kindness.

I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw the news story about Bush's comments. We should be so lucky as to have Bush try to trash our guy (or gal).

Uh, yeah. I don't think that George Bush would intentionally support Obama. I was just so amazed that Bush would poke his nose into the election, given the amount of distancing that McCain will already need to do to get any part of the non-insane conservative vote. The best thing that Bush can do for either Democratic candidate is remind the electorate of how completely our current foreign policy has failed us.

No, Bush really did say this. Objectively, I think it was an absolute blunder in Republican strategery, but subjectively, I have no doubt that Bush is irrational enough to think that he helped McCain's cause.
