Hillary: Texas Doesn't Count

Hillary clinton said this morning, "I'd love to carry Texas, but it's usually not in the electoral calculation for the Democratic nominee."

So where's the next firewall gonna be?

Re: Hillary: Texas Doesn't Count (none / 0)

Her campaign is already $7 million in debt, she has lost the big union endorsements, doesn't have as good ground organization, and her 527 support groups hasn't bought ads either because they couldn't raise the money or because it is legally shaky -- So, after she loses Texas, she will be done.

The superdelegate movement toward Obama will accelerate and it will be clear that she has zero chance of catching him in the delegate count.

Re: Hillary: Texas Doesn't Count (none / 0)

Ummm - no - he has the biggest and 3rd biggest unions endorsing him.

Ben smith said the 527 hasn't purchased ads:

Re: Hillary: Texas Doesn't Count (none / 0)

And why has Obama gained so many more superdelegates than Clinton since Super Tuesday?  Obviously the movement is toward him.

Let's be evidence based here.

As I'm sure you know, even if Clinton wins Texas, she is unlikely to get more delegates or certainly not many more than Obama.

She should stay away from saying stuff like that.

Re: Hillary: Texas Doesn't Count (none / 0)

It's right here.

The context is a question on seating the Florida and Michigan delegations in order to line those states up for the general election. I think the context matters. She was not suggesting that she doesn't need to win Texas. She was merely pointing out that Florida and Michigan are likely to be in play in a general while Texas is not.

Re: Hillary: Texas Doesn't Count (none / 0)

You are really taking that quote out of context.

She was asked a question about seating the Florida and Michigan delegations. She notes that these two states will be in play in the general, so it is in the party's interest to seat the delegations. Her comment on Texas was simply that Texas is very unlikely to be in play in the general election.

Re: Hillary: Texas Doesn't Count (none / 0)

Superdelegate momentum:
http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/02/ superdelegate-history-tracker.html

As of 2/20 Clinton had 59% of superdelegates, down from 71% on 1/13.

Obama has gained 25 over Clinton since Super Tuesday.

It's unlikely that anyone who didn't commit to Clinton before is going to do so now.

Are you trying to change the subject of your stupid non-diary? It would be a lot easier to just delete it.

Re: Hillary: Texas Doesn't Count (none / 0)

Anyone who is not wearing a tinfoil hat can understand what she is saying. She is clearly not talking about the primary and is talking about the general and which states are in play for dems. Texas certainly is NOT in play for us. Anyone with half a brain knows that.

Florida and Michigan could be, if they are treated failry and not disenfranchised.

As I have said before, don't let facts get in the way of the Hillary hate. I just do not undrstand why people who support a candidate who we are being told now CANNOT lose are still so virilant against Hillary.
